  1. 9?? That would be Cub Scouts jesus, whatever, it's all the same organization. i did the gambit from age 7ish to 17, and the religious part did in fact help push me away... Well, I remember nothing at all about religion in the Cub Scouts. It was all about what amounted to "play dates" with your friends, and if you were lucky home-made cookies from your Den Mother. Yeah, that and the Pine-Wood Derby.
  2. Let's end on some common ground, tovarishch

  4. or the call to "bravery" is to stand up to social engineering thugs like yourself that try to force YOUR view of morality on an organization who views things differently.
  5. People have been saying that for at least 30 years w/r/t gays and atheists in Scouting, and Scouting still exists. My point is not that you can't change them, however, if you know the organization requires a faith in a higher being, you join anyways, than make a big deal about being an atheist and complain about how the Scouts will not allow this, then you should not be surprised to be kicked out. Moreover, if you just go with the flow, most likely you'll be able to participate because there are very few times you'll be grilled on your belief in God - at least that was my experience, YMMV
  6. drug, not druk sorry, i was channeling alex's pronuciation A role model? Pronunciation is close enough, but translieration rules are a bit different, tovarish. At first I thought you meant "moy drunk". LOL

  8. You know what I'm talking about Rob. But have your fun. Person 1: I'm agnostic/atheist, and I want to be in the scouts. Most of the time it never comes up. Well, pretty much never. So, I pick my battles and enjoy the experience there since it is 99.99% about things other than religion Person 2: I'm a loud-mouthed obnoxious ass. I know the Scouts require to profess a faith in some God, so I'll openly, constantly raise a stink about it. Are you person 2, Rob? I know TTK is.
  9. He is a white guy. I consider Middle Eastern folks to be white, don't you? I mean, if not, what color are they? Just curious.
  10. You know what I'm talking about Rob. But have your fun.
  11. Maybe the ACLU can represent when you sue them? Only if he was excluded because he drew naked pictures of little boys. That's a case they'd have to get on.
  12. The extent of "Christianity" in my experience was in reciting the Scout oath (much like the Pledge of Allegiance) from time to time, and in having that ONE question posed to me at the Eagle Scout review - "do you believe in a higher power". Nothing Christian, just a belief in a God, and it would only have blocked me from becoming an Eagle Scout. Keep your mouth shut and have fun and you can join and participate in the scouts just fine.
  13. Scouting was fun, and got me into the outdoors. Looking back now that I climb, they didn't teach us very much about camping/backpacking - it was all more trial and error, very disorganized. I didn't get my kids into scouting as I'd rather go out with them on my own, at our own pace (faster than what you'd get otherwise), and skip a lot of the quasi-militaristic aspect to it. Don't like that Scouts want you to profess faith in a higher being, or be openly gay? Don't join. You can find plenty of other organizations elsewhere that'll get you into the outdoors.
  14. You sure about that? You never had a teacher, boss, VP, company where someone in charge of your future or livelihood at the time was not a person of faith who made decisions based on that faith, including those relating to work and you?
  15. You probably have been, are, and will be many more times in the future. That's life.
  16. I would ignore it. There's all kind of goofy shit up in Seattle that I ignore.
  17. drug, not druk
  18. Well, you and Ivan's repeated anti-religious hate-speech bothers me. Much more than some picture could possibly harm you.
  19. There will be hundreds up there. You'll hate it! ;-)
  20. that's, like, your opinion, man. the same rationale was used in violating the constitution in deporting the indians (and the japanese) no less - sure, it's breaking the rules, but it ain't hurting any (real) people... nonsense. your example obviously harms people. The picture has been there for decades. Leave it alone. The ACLU is famous for this kind of bullshit- that and supporting pedophile rights to draw naked pictures of kiddies. A great organization, yep.
  21. uh-huh. so you call it fun then say everyone that opposes new handgun regulations wholesale is complicit in murder. The logic of a egomaniacal sociopath
  22. you're on ignore fatty
  23. More proof that the ACLU are nothing but worthless shit-heels. bizarre. this story sounds like a prime-example of what the 1st amendment bans - public institutions don't get to hold out one religion or religous figure as the preferred one. these folks could at least muddy the waters by having their "historic" portrait flanked by others of mohammed, vishnu, buddha, confucious, gandhi, and david lee roth so as to not so crystal-clearly violate the establishment clause... The ACLU go after things like this just to be complete shit-heels. The picture harms nobody.
  24. your fat sociopathic buddy said shooting is "fun". read the thread, you'll find plenty of "examples"
