  1. Trip: The Tooth - S Face Date: 10/13/2013 Trip Report: Premature snow has not shut down alpine rock yet! In fact the Tooth was suprisingly overrun for a mid-October day (16 people by our count!). But then again the forecast was pretty nice... Temps were in the 40's much of the day. Snow begins a few hundred feet above Source Lake in the boulder-field basin. The snow is patchy and combined with verglas on the rocks in the morning quite a bit treacherous, requiring concentration, deliberate moves and mindful foot placements. On the way out, the issue is more about punching through the soft stuff. There is a good boot tread all the way up to follow. The route is 99% snow free with just a bit on the scramble pitch (more muddy than snowy), but you can avoid it. A great way to spend a fall day. Pics follow. On the approach above Source Lake: A bit of snow in the approach gully: My belayer on P1: View down from the final pitch: View down the basin from the summit: Rapelling: The basin on the way out. Gear Notes: Trekking poles were nice. No need for 'pons or ice axe.
  2. You should have left a steaming coiler in one of the cordoned-off lots, preferably right next to a pit toilet
  3. Is that what you did in person? fixed that for ya
  4. So your hero was a shade of gay, so what? Why is that so bad? Calm down there sailor! I'm not sure why you blame others for wreaking your childhood delusions. The facts are always stranger than fiction, most people learn that with age. He can still be an image of toughness and masculinity for ya...those can be gay too. Rob Halford
  5. anyone wanna build bolt anchors on the W ridge of Forbidden this weekend?
  6. and I bet you "think about that a lot" sickie
  7. no shit? really?
  8. It's gated in winter; easy enough to lock and gate now until the government shutdown is over. The road can be biked.
  9. Even GW never had the audacity to think he could bypass Congress to start a war--or to spy on US citizens' internal communications. Also, Ivan, I think your memory is failing you regarding No Child Left Behind. I recall a collaboration between Ted Kennedy and GW led to its overwhelming passage. Oh there was endless fighting tooth and nail from you Ivan and all the rest on the left. Nobody that cares stands around and says "yeah, fuck shit up... you'll pay later". Nice try though. And for the record, I think the shutdown is a stupid idea. glassgowdick: I don't read your lunatic ravings. You are on ignore.
  10. Yeah, right, like that's human nature. Why didn't the Dems follow this advice - "Hey, let's let Bush whatever the fuck he wants and when the country turns to shit we reap the benefits"....
  11. Who are these Republicans of which you speak? Welcome back, FW. You couldn't keep away, could you? ;-)

  14. you should bitch about the weather, glassgowdick - there's something to legitmately whine about now

    skis!

My 12 year old is a double-black diamond skiier now. We started him at age 4. 3 just seemed too young to make any traction.
  16. I did think that self-regulation was working pretty well to this point, so I'm unclear as to why it is necessary. Well if you recall when Adam introduced himself, he did point out that he spoke with, "A duo of climbers," who were shut down at Playground Point because of crowds, most likely on a weekend. Gasp! No way! I could not even imagine the Duo of climbers' disappointment when they then went to Roto Wall and too found it very busy. Clearly management needs to be instituted. Signage and climber education would have prevented this unfortunate incident for Duo of climbers. I would hate to think that duo would need to open the guidebook to search out a possible alternative crag. Yeah, maybe they can block the path of unregistered climbers like they do now on the Colchuck and Snow Creek TH's "Where are you going? Your pack looks too big for a day hike..."
  17. fock no! I killed it with vodka! No shit. Takaya zaraza can't survive in an environment like a Russian's bloodstream (>0.20 BAC)
  18. Dunno about your question but hope to see a TR soon :-) I'd like to get those two... and around this time of year seems a good time for it
  19. Now you like slow sex? I bet you wanna know, Oleg, but keep reality and your fantasies apart . I always normalize the reality with my fantasies, Nastia "U nas seks nyetu"...
  20. Now you like slow sex? Wooah... is there more to the story on this "Great Gendarme" bivy? :-)
  21. sounds like BC Parks are actually managed by reasonable, thinking people using sound policy decisions - our NCNP rangers should learn something from them.
