But when the same cast of characters comes out with their pontificating extremist message (usually involving social engineering by the force of government), I reject and oppose them. Moreover, I do not respect blind, baseless suggestions. I do respect full cost-benefit analyses and reasonable, well-thought out solutions, which, BTW, are usually "nuanced" and a mixed bag. You miss the point. If that $200 m. was not used to buy "a plane", I actually would advocate using the funds to pay down the national debt. And I brought up the stimulus package because it highlights how trivial $200 mill is in the big scheme of things. The stimulus package is something like 3 orders of magnitude larger, and the Iraq Occupation is even more significant.

Well, gee, anyone making less than $75K individual or $150K filing jointly is about to get $1200 back plus up to $300 per child. If you are so concerned about the issues above, feel free to donate your check... or lobby congress to rescind the stimulus and redirect the funds elsewhere.

Heck - the same indictment applies to most congressmen and other miscellaneous bureaucrats, not just the lobbyists. As long as we have humans in government, the problem of people attempting to use the medium of government to enrich or benefit themselves at the public expense will be with us. As usual, it's all down the memory hole--"oh hey look, Lehman stocks are up!" So is the solution here better rules that increase transparency, etc or nationalizing the entire financial marketplace? The answer is collectivization and five-year plans.
