I'll ask, but my friends were only climbing Dome via the standard route, and they were descending when the accident occurred. They said the guy slid from above down into a crevasse almost 'in their laps'. My friends said the guys were on the NW face and identified them as "ice climbers".

Great show! As for 80's shows - Cheers! 70's MASH. On the kiddie front I loved Land of the Lost :-)

My friends got back at midnight. They said they helped in the rescue - the party in question slipped 1200 feet into a crevasse. SAR came within 2.5 hours.

My brother does year-round baseball with his kid (who also pitches). I think he is "in" it for similar reasons. The movie was a lot of cool graphics. Don't expect much from the plot or characters.... just enjoy the ride. The Avengers was a lot better. I agree - Mad Max is next to check out. It's gonna be hot this weekend so a bike ride with a breeze on an island or a lake cruise may be a better call than soak up 360 degree solar radiation, but I've had Bonanza in my sights a long time...

I went to the M's game with the boys on Fri for Star Wars night. Sat I hiked Tamanos Mtn with my youngest. Sun we went to Jurassic World and grilled steaks. It was a good weekend. I may be leaving early Fri morning for Bonanza. If not, then yeah, I may swing by the pub club

They really need to split the core zone - coney/tolketie/edwards plateau/n side of temple ridge really is a different place that shouldn't be impacted by the 100's that rush to the lakes S of Temple ridge

This map appears to have changed from what i remember in the past where the boundaries extended closer to the peaks of Stuart, Argonaut, etc. A few years ago I went to climb Argonaut, approaching from Stuart Lake Trail and camping in the basin under the N side. I thought I needed a permit (looking at the map above) and reserved one. When I went to pick up the permit and told the ranger where I was camping she said I did NOT need a permit to be there. You may be good - call the ranger to be sure

IMO a descent of the N ridge is not implausible, but it depends on what you objective is. If you need to do it to link something up it would be doable. It isn't plausible as an alternative to for getting back to Boston basin. It would require a lot of downclimbing. There are no established stations for rapping, but there aren't a lot of places where it would be efficient to rap. It would be a long day I think to ascend the W ridge from the top of the couloir and downclimb the entire N ridge to the bivy spots. Ilia, why would you want to do that? If you find the W ridge too slow, there is the E ledges descent route...
