  1. too cynical - despite flaws, American public schools are still pumping out plenty of good citizens I agree it's not failed, but our results are way lower than they should/could be. I'm not blaming teachers though. I think a lot of cultural changes are making things worse (electronic distractions top that list).
  2. the SBAC just got rolled out here and I am aware of it. I like the idea of "accountability" - rewards for good teachers and moving the bad ones out... but fuck it seems like a nearly impossible metric to derive (who is actually good) and dependent on so much out of a teacher's controls i'd prefer to see testing as just a sanity check, a way to track trends - rather than used as a heavy handed stick that refocuses teaching on doing well on the tests rather than learning...
  3. it's never been proposed to my union, and, depending on the details, i'm sure we could be easily on the side of such a proposal i'm sure that there are countries w/ both teacher labor unions and longer school-years - there's no reason they're mutually exclusive I agree. They shouldn't be mutually exclusive don't you think a longer school year would be a hell of a lot more efficacious than standardized testing and NCLB-induced hoops to jump through?
  4. Settle down, Beavis! ;-)
  5. I'd be all for having school increase to 245 days a year, and paying teachers proportionally for that (and pay the higher taxes required to fund that). Our kids are falling behind other countries that don't take off summers from K-12 education. I wonder how the unions would like that idea? i'm just one union guy, but a year-round schedule sounds pretty cool - a lot more money (i'm expecting the extra 65 days aren't being expected for free? ) - the typical approach, as i understand this kind schedule, still has 2 weeks or so breaks at the end of each cycle, which as a climber means good long road-trips at times of the year that currently are tough to get out during that you assume the attitudes of a union member on this subject shows you don't much understand the thing you're judging so well this has come up many times over the years. teachers unions oppose it vociferously. a three-month break to let the kids go help with the harvest is such a ridiculous anachronism. I would alternatively favor kids doing some form of hard labor every summer (or some other volunteer or life-enriching activity) and yes, you would get paid for the 65 extra days - proportionally higher. and yes, there would be a 2 week break here and there.
  6. Actually, the summers are a time that teachers use to get those extra credits and higher degrees that are needed to make living wage. So if they were to work all year, when would they be able to do the state required professional development? (which they are not paid to do) sneak it in during the recess periods? I'm saying pay them commensurately. Read above. If they make 70K, then pay them 85 or 90K or whatever the increase amounts to. Our kids are what matter, right? And they are losing out to other countries on classroom time - every year.

  8. *yawn* another cartoon character, unbelievably even more dimwitted than his Polish twin. Answer the question: Which country do you want to declare war on Everybody knows a good republican loves war whether justified or unjustified Listen, fuckwit, I'm not a Republican, I'm a Libertarian, and I prefer a non-interventionist foreign policy. No wars and also no foreign aid. If some third world shithole wants to kills all its neighbors... or its own, that's their business. If my country is at war, yes, I will support our troops and our president. But I'd prefer we weren't at war.
  9. in the other forums on this site, indeed! on climbing topics. :-)
  10. "thoughts and opinions" LOL

  12. Based on the amount of time and effort you spend replying to me, it seems you do care. FOAD, AAK.
  13. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything of the sort. But I am enjoying mocking you, assholekisser. Very much, in fact.
  14. Well, that's setting a pretty low bar - at least he's not a truther. While you don't have to be smart academically, you have to be a quick study and be able to sift through the mounds of information coming your way, weight the advice of staff, and make sound decisions. After 911 I thought, maybe, that Bush was in a position of history and that he would quickly grow to meet the demands of his stature. Boy was I wrong. Instead, he fell into the neocon reactionary group and here we are. Biggest foreign policy blunder in the last 75 years. *yawn*. keep living in the past and enjoying your hyperbole. Loser.
  15. Dumbest president in history? That'd probably be #9--or maybe #33. I'll let you look 'em up. In any event, GW somehow got through Yale and Harvard ok--with mediocre grades. Of course, we have no way of knowing Obama's academic or intellectual cred, since he's never allowed the release of his college transcripts--or produced a graduate thesis. At least W is still not stupid enough to be a Truther. The belief system that engenders that type of conclusion can only be explained by profound mental retardation.
  16. Truthers like all conspiracy-theory kooks and folks with some form of OCD, hypochondriasm or other mental deficiency float through the interwebs looking for whatever turd that appeals to their world view/mental illness, then can swallow whole and regurgitate as Gospel.
  17. You're so ATM. Just like your Mom.
  18. Tell us about how much smarter underground power lines would be again, assholekisser. I mean if you have time in between hand jobs for your "clients".
  19. Uhhhhhhhhhhh, no? Believe it Hateweather Not everyone can be as smart as a 9/11 Truther, Fuckaroo.
  20. which one is Jim? Second from the bottom, next to a pollock giving a happy ending I guess ggk's massage biz is really booming these days!
  21. which one is Jim?
  22. I think he's a kook. What he posted (found) is insulting, so just giving tit for tat. It is spray after all. Yeah, the subject of this thread is incendiary, a troll. I don't really agree with the original premise. But it's one of like two threads now on Spray getting traffic, so, I'm checking in and dropping turds like the rest of the miscreants here. I don't take it seriously, especially from those that take themselves the most seriously (Jim). Damn, it's looking sunny outside - can't wait to ride home, pour a gin and tonic and read out on the balcony. And not think about politics one iota. :-)
  23. Fuckaroo is not hateful, just derisive. I mean it's not like I identified myself as "armed"... why are you always jumping in on me or FW when we use a term like Fuckaroo or libtard and silent at all the Republifuck/etc spew? The one-sided outrage is so black and white it's not even debatable. Enjoy this sunny day while it lasts! who identified themselves as "armed"? as in they have arms? and legs too? what? Who is outraged? onesided? I'm not the arbiter of truth, as I'm sure you'd be one of the first to point out. But I do have an opinion. I'm not laying down any laws, but last I checked "Libtards on Parade: Alcoholism, Corruption, Murder" was started by FW. I'm sure the intent of this thread was to have a meaningful discourse free of insults. "hateful" vs. "derisive"...what are you Bill Clinton? But no doubt most people who post in spray are assholes, that's why I never do. Sorry for being so mean and picking on ya! Have a good weekend. look at Fuckaroo's image, lower left corner: armedDemocrats and yes you are an asshole, sorry
  24. I was trying to. But oly and effaroo are too filled with hate. Isn't it ironic? Don't ya think? effaroo! OMG! hater! hate speech!
