  6. it must be a good movie. the back of the case has quotes of praise from foreign policy luminaries like moby. i also like the praise from scott ritter... his praise indicates that he must have been really impressed with his own appearance in the film. interesting stuff, but nothing really new if yer paying attention
  7. Good points there Spliffy, but there is prolly no need to so up in arms about their style. Sounds like those guys were a bit inexperienced and bit off more than they could chew. Many (most???) climbers probably have similar stories of getting in a bit over their head. As a result, we learn and don't repeat these mistakes. But to you, such learning experiences merely qualify as "the stupidist shit I've ever heard." Boy, good thing you've always exercised impecable judgment and never gotten in over your head. Kudos to those climbers for going for it. I bet you learned a lot. Other newbs, you should take heed of their cautionary tale. And yes, being censored by the mods is lame.
  8. Bush likely to bow out of one debate Adviser cites concern over possible town meeting participantsBy Mike Allen Updated: 1:37 a.m. ET Sept. 8, 2004President Bush may skip one of the three debates that have been proposed by the Commission on Presidential Debates and accepted by Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.), Republican officials said yesterday. The officials said Bush's negotiating team plans to resist the middle debate, which was to be Oct. 8 in a town meeting format in the crucial state of Missouri. The Bush-Cheney campaign announced that its debate negotiation team will be led by James A. Baker III, who was secretary of state under President George H.W. Bush. Baker headed the Bush campaign's Florida recount response in 2000 and is the current president's personal envoy on Iraqi debt resolution. Baker negotiated debates in 1980, 1984, 1988 and 1992. As chief of staff to Bush's father in 1992, he took a cautious stance with the view that a sitting president has little to gain and much to lose in debates, according to accounts at the time. Concern over participants Bush aides refused to discuss their opening position. Officials familiar with the issue said he plans to accept the commission's first debate, which is to focus on domestic policy, and the third one, which is to focus on foreign policy. The audience for the second debate, to be at Washington University in St. Louis, was to be picked by the Gallup Organization. The commission said participants should be undecided voters from the St. Louis area. A presidential adviser said campaign officials were concerned that people could pose as undecided when they actually are partisans. "It's not a fear of the format," said the adviser, who refused to be identified to avoid annoying Bush. "They want two debates that are focused on clear differences on foreign and domestic policy. We benefit from the differences." The Democratic team is led by Vernon E. Jordan Jr. The Republican team includes U.S. Trade Representative Robert B. Zoellick, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, and campaign advisers Karen Hughes and Mary Matalin. Washington University has set up a Web site saying the community "welcomes the nation and the world," has recruited 471 student volunteers and is holding weekly lectures on campaign issues. The university was host for debates in 1992 and 2000. The commission picked the university in 1996 for a debate that was canceled after President Bill Clinton, an incumbent with a commanding lead in polls, accepted just two. "That's kind of what we're hearing about the Bush thing right now," said Steve Givens, chairman of the university's debate committee. Bush plans to accept debates at the University of Miami in Coral Gables on Sept. 30 and at Arizona State University in Tempe on Oct. 13. The campaign also plans to participate in a vice presidential debate Oct. 5 at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
  9. I was in the Army. The front sight post is raised so it is aligned with the rear sight, which is set into the carrying handle. The cop did not provide disinformation. The M-16 is a very accurate rifle. If you're a decent shot and your rifle is sighted properly, you can hit humah silhouettes at 300 meters regularly. 300 meter targets are a regular part of the M-16 qualification. I spent one day shooting @ a distance range. I hit a couple of human silhouettes @ 500 meters w/ open sights. My experience was w/ the M-16A2, so I can't speak for vietnam-era rifles. Get some...
  10. Yeah, MM is really secretive about his 'agenda'... I heard he really didn't like George Bush and wants him out of the white house, but, shhhhhh, that's a secret. I agree that F911 is pretty much a piece of junk, but MM's manipulation of facts and abuse of trust is no different than GWB's.
  11. Is that one of those sly stallone bolt-guns clipped to your belt?

    Stupid House

So I take it that you thought the recent Republican attempt to amend the constitution so as to prohibit same-sex marriage was a bad idea, on account of such decisions should be left to the states?
