    Hypocrisy

Regardless....you play the game, you accept the risks and consequences. You have sex, you might conceive. Actually, this only applies to 50% of people who "play the game". And sure, men are "responsible" for their half. They just have a much smaller price to pay for it-that I assure you.

    Hypocrisy

By the way, holding conflicting beliefs simultaneously does not make you a hypocrite. It just makes you human. Expecting people to be able to be perfectly consistent--especially when it comes to values that are sometimes the result of emotional response or internal "knowing"--is unrealistic. It is also unreasonable to be such a harsh judge of people just because they can't justify to you their own beliefs and the inconsistencies those beliefs may hold. Don't we all, at least at some point in our lives, grapple with thinking or believing two different things at once? And don't we all, at some time, find it hard to put into words what we just know in our hearts? And haven't we all done something that is actually true hypocrisy? I don't know about you, but I have stated a belief in one thing, yet acted differently--thus making myself a hypocrite. Fortunately, it also makes me less willing to judge others who are just muddling through the same as I am and trying to figure it out as we go. Unfortunately, it doesn't make me any less of an asshole. But hey, I'm working on it. And my guess is, so are you.
  3. Awesome! I'm sure she'll like you.
  4. I'd also suggest clean underwear and a toothbrush, but I know you don't worry about these trivialities. ;P Have tons of fun!
  5. Yeah, like electricity. I'm gonna design a fake rock wall that I can electrify whenever I want. That'll be fun!

    Hypocrisy

And just a tiny note of an ugly reality: Most forms of birth control are not 100%. So please don't jump to the conclusion that every unplanned pregnancy is a direct result of irresponsible behavior. (And please don't say that is a justification for abortion blah blah blah--I am only pointing out that accidents do happen-even to responsible adults).
  7. You insure it right there at the counter. And I'll bet they are much tighter about what you actually carry on with you. I only carry my harness (I take off the chalk bag) and my shoes on with me. I figure that way no matter what happens, I can still climb. And I won't get hassled getting on. Oh, also, if you decide to try and carry stuff on and they say no, you may not have the option to say to check it and insure it. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. But I am a little like that--there are hundreds of people who never had an issue.
  8. I've flown with gear to Vegas (as well as various parts of the world) without much problem. I've only ever had one issue--I had overpacked a bag and a rope blew out the end of the bag. I actually saw it on the tarmac while loading up (it was in Peru, and they aren't very picky about people walking around to get to the plane--IOW they don't put you thru a habitrail to get onto every plane. I saw my rope and started walking to my bag--they got a bit upset about that. But it all got straightened out. Also, you can and should insure your bag for the amount new gear would cost you. Ruining your one climbing trip is nothing compared to losing all your gear. Oh, and flying non-stop brings your chances of getting a bag lost even lower. Enjoy RR, and if you do Epinepherine, I will weep with envy.
  9. I'd think you'd come up with something good from Rollins. Maybe I missed it in a past post.
  10. Hey! You still over at your Z-job?
  11. I dunno, Slayer is not so good for one on one violence themes(serial murder excepted); but Fight Til Death might be an option. Just not the best option.
  12. Not a good choice from Slayer--especially the part about willing to slit your own wrists or take a bullet in your own head to get away from the person pissing you off. Not a good go-get-em IMO.
  13. That's an interesting question. I wonder what type of efforts are going on in areas like Haiti or Bolivia. I do know I have read some incredibly frightening stuff on the UN site and related sites that work with women and children in war-torn areas. It makes me cry--and I don't cry too easily.
  14. I totally agree with this. I also get pissed when they start talking about giving special mortgage loans to teachers because "they can't afford to live in the community they work in". What? Hell, I can't afford to live in the community I work in. And why would a teacher be considered more of a valuable asset to a community than any other professional? We picks our jobs and we know what they pay. Can't whine later and expect special treatment.
  15. Risk? Monopoly? I love those games!
  16. To the folks who believe that we are conditioned to see our fighting forces as a group that can do no wrong: please re-read the above statement. This echos what I hear from my friends who have served as well. These sentiments sound like heartfelt lessons learned under conditions most of us will never face. This is what makes me recognize that the vast majority of our servicemen and servicewomen are just like you and me--people who want the best for their families and their fellow countrymen. And this is the way they believe they can most powerfully ensure that hope. These folks are not archetypes. They aren't movie characters. And they aren't ads in the upper corner of your screen. They are the ones who fight for us--in the wars you personally agree with and in the wars you don't. Personally, I am grateful to them.
  17. There is a capitalistic indifference gene?
  18. You put the dick in tater, dontcha? I knew it all along!
  19. Seems ironic to me that people use their freedom of speech to bitch about those who ensure we get to keep that right. On one hand, its cool to live in a country where we get to do that. On the other hand, it is sad to live somewhere that people are not grateful for what we have. Maybe I am just making links where there aren't any. But I honestly believe that if some folks had their way, they would happily invade us and make us all STFU. I wouldn't like that much.
  20. Incredible.
  21. I think we have a winner.
  22. You know you can probably save a lot of time if you just spray black paint over the bumper sticker. Have you ever tried to remove one of those suckers? Man, they are tough.
  23. What is this thread about again?
  24. "Blame Canada"
  25. You ride an out of service bus? A step up from the short bus.
