    New Modest Mouse

The base beat sounds a LOT like Franz Ferdinand's 'Take Me Out'
  2. I finally got through to Jack's Store. With a CC # you can call and reserve them in advance and then they will leave them in the al Gore lockbox for a "non-business hour" pickup.
  3. So if I permits are only available at Jack's store during open hours (7-7PM) what does everyone typically do if they are going to be legal and get a permit? Drive up early the night before, get one, then sleep at the trailhead? Start late morning? If anyone else has gone up this weekend, I'd be interested in beta.

    Dark Peak?

    56. Dark Peak, 8,504'/2592m, North Cascades, USGS Agnes Mountain. Dark Peak is a high ridge point NW of Bonanza Peak. The easiest route is via the SW face. Like Bonanza Peak, Dark Peak has abundant loose rock. Those who have climbed it vow to never climb it again, just like Bonanza Peak. Reference: Cascade Alpine Guide. I bet Klenke has some pics... check his Summitpost websites for close peaks.

  10. there are some smaller public schools that incorporate those type of principals into the curriculum. I'd agree that climbers in general tend to be more "experience it" types than "read about it" types.

  12. When I started rowing crew my hands had the same thing. After continued use (ie weeks and months) of every day, they eventually toughened up to where they are practically blister-proof. I think it just takes a long time of constant "roughening up." Lifting weights where the knurling of the bars will rub on your hands (ie deadlifts, chin-ups) helps too.
  13. "Administrative assistants' day"
  14. Friday is forecast for Rain, while Sunday is supposed to be merely "cloudy." In other words, I'm going up Sunday and looking for partners myself. If you can/want to switch then that , otherwise, have a good trip saturday in the rain.
  15. You have to buy the $15 permit at this point, right?

  17. What is it about Luna bars that make them "for women"? just marketing hype?
  18. In Vancouver WA there is a store on 99th street called "A&L Bargain store" You can buy cases of cliff bars, balance bars, and "Triathalon" bars for $3-$4 for 12. Only some are past the experiation date too.
  19. I am looking to do St. Helens some time soon, next week possibly. The weekend even better, I'd be booting up and skiing down, as I don't have AT gear.

    WTF?

That's an $87,000 Tax rebate from the government. Buy a huge gass guzzler (small SUVs don't count), and as long as you are a sole proprietor or in some type of business for yourself (part time is ok too) you got a huge instant tax break.
  21. I think it's the true identity of snugtop.
  22. That is great stuff! I think the pelton basin lake is called Spirit Lake.
  23. What's the deal with the midnight "mazama" start? is that some kinda traditional group start time? Do they have classes up there that leave @ midnight?
  24. Did you burn the ends to prevent unraveling? How's the ankle doing?
