uigeadail, for me (not so experienced) was like drinking a collection of disgusting things mixed with jet fuel. but after the bottle (you gotta stick with something so $), everything else tasted more pedestrian and i longed to drink goat urine mixed with moldy mushrooms out of a well worn shoe again. what about dat dewshine tho? http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/27/health/tennessee-teenagers-die-dewshine/

best of cc.com I made an amazing geologic discovery!

You read my mind. I don't know anyone on this forum, but reading through this thread and other threads on Cascade Climbers I have an observation about Ivan. Most of his posts are very concise and his humor is on the mark. And he seems to make these short comments at just the perfect place on a thread. I bet he would be a fun guy to have a beer with someday! He is! About the only person he doesn't humor is the Leavenworth camp hosts, how don't appreciate his bivies in front of the bathroom door. You should definitely do it if you get the chance. Just be sure to duck out after the 9-10th one, and before his hairy Russkiness emerges. Best if he's strung up on some aid wall when that happens, or the authorities get involved. -

And can someone post up a link to an online version of the video when the Great Reveal happens? Because I don't think I get that channel or show. -

Naval gazing drivel from a devout couch potato. He would've been active in cc.com spray if he'd been born in another era. Wow Rad! By the way, are you neutered? Nah, but my wife had her tubes tied so I'm done propagating my genome. Isn't this thread about probing virgin canyons dripping with moss? I'm sure we'd all like some of that action. Thank you for removing that slander about Beckett! It really hurt, since I live in the theatre of the absurd. Yes, we're putting together an expedition to explore this under appreciated gem. All we need is a climber, in case we need to climb over something. Are you available? -
Ah...the good ole days! Miss ya Steven!

“Now, in my readings and in my travels I have heard, like you, about men of a superior type, possessing the keys to all our mysteries. Somehow I could not regard this as a simple allegory, this idea of an invisible humanity within visible humanity. Experience has proven, I told myself, that a man can reach truth neither directly nor alone; an intermediary must exist—still human in certain respects yet surpassing humanity in others. Somewhere on our Earth this superior humanity must exist, and it cannot be absolutely inaccessible. And so shouldn’t all my efforts be devoted to discovering it? Even if, in spite of my certainty, I were the victim of a monstrous illusion, I would have nothing to lose in making the effort, for in any case, without this hope, all life is meaningless. “But where to look? Where to begin? I had already traveled the world, stuck my nose everywhere, into all sorts of religious sects and mystical cults, but to each one it was always: maybe yes, maybe no. Why should I stake my life on this one rather than that one? You see, I had no touchstone.” - René Daumal, Mount Analogue -

I will seriously make this happen. All we need is a team of heroes. There is another 20 in it if the TR is written in the style of "Mount Analogue". -

I will donate a twenty spot to the first CC.com expedition who (post-reveal of course) posts a TR of Hyperbole Canyon and plants a flag with this name on its shores. Must have pictures to prove the conquest. If it is all of that (and I sincerely hope it is!), then I may do it myself. -

HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT I HAVE BEEN SNIPPED??!!! AT LEAST IT WAS A HARDCORE VASECTOMY. I HURT FOR WEEKS. I still haven't had that done, so I'm full on still capable of impregnating women. But I would catch hell with my wife if I did, but at least it makes me a worthy internet forum poster. -

Gene is awesome and it would be awesome to name it after him, but I'm glad Hyberbole Canyon was found. What a great discovery! What are the coordinates? I can tag it on Google Maps and start a petition to make sure no one tries to tag it with some Norse nonsense that has already been over used. http://www.summitpost.org/valhalla-peak/800488 http://www.summitpost.org/valhalla-range-british-columbia/538347 http://www.summitpost.org/mount-valhalla-hail-peak/152731 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Valhalla_(Alaska) http://www.scci.org/preserves/valhalla/ I could go on.... I have agreed several times in this thread that the words in my original post were overly enthusiastic and hyperbolic (let go - move on). I thought people would be glad to hear about a place like I found. But I've since learned that on this site, unless you give out photos, details, coordinates, and in a certain way (and right now), that many members here will pout, ridicule and criticize every possible aspect of the whole story, including my motives for bringing it forward. I get it that you hard core climbers have your own culture (I wonder if some of you have ever experienced anything really hard core). I know there are many cool people here, but at times this forum reminds me of petty Jr. high school BS. And now, Oly Climber, with no part whatsoever with any investment in this discovery, wants to start a petition to name it something else. Not a single hit for a feature named "Hyperbole" in the Summit Post database. Go ahead and bury your discovery in obscurity behind all the other mountains, caves, glens, moores, canyons, and lakes called "Valhalla". Such a tired and overused name. But I do have an investment! I lived the hype around its discovery! I clamored for details, waited on baited breath. And now....a slot canyon named "Valhalla". Meh, pretty uninspiring, even if it is a cool chunk of nature. I'm sure you were not the first human to traipse it, and while your "investment" grants you the right to name it, it does not (apparently) appear to compel you to be original. For me, it will be, and always has been....HYPERBOLE CANYON and is another chapter of the rich history of CC.com. I applaud you for not only your discovery of Hyberbole Canyon, but also your circus-like reveal, and of course...for this entertaining thread. -
That sounds like 60s hippy music, didn't know you were into that stuff! RIP.

Or maybe you (not anyone particular here, but a cc.com poster) is more connected to the climbing life so you have more friends that are on the fringe with those that are wannabee "ambassador atheletes" and you even know some that are. So thus you're more sensitive and irritated by the brand hoes, because you know them personally. The whole process of becoming a person who gets all their rad gear from rad gear companies is all about self promotion and whoring yourself out, for the most part. Remember when not reporting your FA as the rage? Those guys didn't get shit for free gear. the cool part, if you can fool the gear companies into making you a part of their brand, is that you get some free or cheap gear and maybe even some travel paid for. And good on those that do it, and I actually can think of people that I don't like who have succeeded at this game...but I can't think of a lot of people who don't deserve it. They worked hard, they climbed more, they took more risks, whatever. They pimped themselves, and they got paid (however much or little). Meanwhile the weekend worriers gotta foot the bill. But nothing sells gear like seeing someone you know and trust using it to climb rad ass stuff. For me, if Rat and the Big Baller use it, then it will be good enough for me. -

Awesome thread! If it were not for my personal integrity, I'm pretty sure I would be festooned with brand labels by now. However, I must maintain my brand of disheveled disorganization.
