ridehikeclimbski replied to gapertimmy's topic in the *freshiezone*
Thought it was called Mt. Flatchelor ....for Oregon I rather spend my $ at Willamette Pass on a great cold, knee deep powder day.....try the skiing/boarding the trees next to RTS , thats STEEP, DEEP and NARROW ! holy -
Thanks for all the suggestions , the 20% off coupon applied to REI/US Bank CC holders, it expires today ! However REI is backordered on the standard size Freerides, darn but I ordered it anyway. Had great luck with REI on all previous purchases/returns. I emailed BD asking if they knew the width of the brakes that REI sells and asked if they would swap if needed for no extra charge if I paid the shipping. I use 03 XXX bandits for inbounds skiing , rather not use the Freerides for cliffs or jumps. Maybe soon they will have a stronger binding that suits both AT and alpine. TGR High Life is showing tonight in Eugene, am pumped especially with all the early season snow !! Taking my daughter and a high school foriegn exchange student from Denmark , apparantly he has skied the Alps in France , lucky kid ! Have fun in Telluride and anywhere with POWDA !

I am considering these for my new Atomic R:ex , have a 20% off coupon for REI , but cant seem to get thru the Portland store to see if they will trade the standard brake for the wide one for no extra charge, even emailed the REI.com question post and the person that replied didnt know if the brake was included ,geez the online REI Freeride page mentions the brake IS included ,DUH . Backcountry store offers either brake when you buy from them at the same price as REI. Any other places offering better deals ? I am a pathetic cheapskate ...Thanks !

Hey ,lets hear your ski/board or barefoot run of your life on snow . Yes, you may include pond skimming or anything goes on snow !
-
One of the best runs I ever had in a ski area was taking the Germania lift up at Alta then hike up Mt Baldy and ski down the Main/Little chute with tons of dry powder, creating a mini avalanche every turn , that run kicks ASS !

What can be worst than Jackass, the movie , I did manage a few laughs but what a dumbass show. Daughter brought movie over last weekend , glad I didnt waste $3.79 for it !

Damn , the pc technology would be more understanding for these Canadians if the engineers wouldve designed it similiar to an outhouse near Chilliwack.

Putin needs to send GWB a telegraph, advising him to quit acting like a Dumb Fucking Jackass Dickhead World Dictator ! Sumbitchbush thinks he can transform the world into a complete democracy environment , that idiot needs some real education on world affairs and foreign policy ! Kudos for Putins country arresting Russias largest corrupted oil barron , hopefully Putin can come to the USA and arrest some of our thieves that are CEOs !

Some pumps will have some end (horizontal) play which is fine , its the vertical (up and down) movement of the pulley/shaft that will indicate a failed bearing . Also spin the pulley if its noisy and rough , its shot , however when turning it you may feel the vanes in the pump moving the fluid which is normal. Some pump assemblies have a square hole in the pump bracket so you can use a socket ratchet for leverage to tighten belt so you dont pry on pump housing . If your PS pump is part plastic ,and aluminum , sometimes the oring between them will leak. Hope that gives you more info ! Good Luck Or just leave your belt off and use manual steering to build up your wimp ass arms for climbing !

Why be a democrat or a republican ? consider and vote independent ! I prefer to vote for the individual that is the lesser of all the evils.

I work as a mechanic and impressed with similar Pick a Part yards in the South Willamette Valley . I got a drivers door outside handle for 10 bucks when the Honda dealer wanted 70 for a bare, non painted one. I got a blue colored handle for my white car , now I can find it w/o my headlamp in the dark ! Most of the auto recyclers drain and contain the fluids these days . The DEQ came to my shop with a weeks prior notice and passed inspection the first time !

Thanks for the feedback from Adventures Edge plus your honesty and thoughtfulness in returning them , thats great ! I sure enjoy Shasta for big mountain experience , might try Casaval Ridge late winter or early spring .

Since I am hard of hearing from birth, all I could get from the guys was they rented them from a shop in Arcata ( the one by Eureka , Arcadia is by LA ) I searched thru Yahoo and got Adventures Edge .... 650 10th St. .... Arcata ,CA 95521..... ( 707-822-4673) cant remember their names but I do know both of them had rental crampons so one pair got returned . Either the weekend of July 26th or August 9th , I was up there both weekends. Amazing they lasted a month up there ! Wish I had more info , good luck
-
Were they Grivel crampons ?Talked to 2 guys that went up the Wintin Ridge and they dropped one pair of them on the CC route on the descent (between the plateau and the springs) in the first part of August. They rented them from a mountaineering shop in Arcadia Ca. ...cant imagine the crampons would still be up there .
