  1. I always bring my assortment of Pringles Chips. So many flavors.
  2. Peter blew by me on the east face of Whitney. Day hiking shoes and a fanny pack was all he had. He didn't even stop to talk. I'm sure he was back to the Portal even before we made the summit. Portal to Portal in less than a day. Could have been him.
  3. We'll be at 8 Mile but I could stop by and hang out.
  4. Marie, I have 2, I can lend you one of mine. I'll be camping at Eight Mile Campground. Most likely will be there on the 16th in the evening.
  5. I will be in Leavenworth climbing with my 7 year old twin boys on September 17th and 18th. Make it for that weekend and I'll be there.
  6. I gave a slide presentation a few months ago on the Ptarmigan Traverse and actually mapped out the route so that people viewing it could get an idea where we went. If you're interested, I can send you those JPEG's. Let me know.
  7. Oh, sorry MountaingirlBC. We did it as an early spring snowshoe trip. Anything goes and everywhere goes on SS trips. Although I think you could make it down the way we did it. Just exit the summit on the west side and follow the drainage down to the trail. Adds adventure to your trip. If you don't feel like heading back down to the trailhead, head up to Colchuck or Stuart Lake. All in all, Cannon's a great peak to stand on, but of course every mountain in the Cascades is worth standing on. Have Fun
  8. Any way you go, Cannon gives you excellent views of the Enchantments. We did the abandon logging road route up and then exited off the northwest side and connected with the Stuart Lake trail.
  9. It's nice when someone is given the opportunity to write somthing that others can read. She had a lot to say.
  10. Wow! I live in Mill Creek but have no reason to drive by the area. The last time I was in the area, the place was fenced off. Must have been a couple of years ago or so. Think I'll drive by there today.
  11. Stay to the right and you can avoid most of the glacier by climbing on the rocks.
  12. I lived in Lake Stevens for a few years and climbed at the rock. The rock is now a neighborhood park and yes, the hangers have been removed and the bolts smashed. The last time I went was a few years ago and I really looked out of place climbing on the rock and at the same time looking down on someones back yard. After being spoken to by a few neighbors, I realized that this was no longer my place to climb and that the rock was now the property of few dipshit people who had no use for it other than to look at it. After that, I never went back. If anyone is interested in viewing it, I believe these are the directions to get there (all by memory). Take hwy 205 up from hwy 2 and at the red barn gas station, take a right, take a right at the first housing development and head down across the bridge and take another right. Rock will be on your right. Take a peek but don't stay long enough for someone to question your presences. Remember the rock at Martha Lake Airport in south Everett? 1 bolt on the top. The airport has been fenced off and is soon to become a county park. Might be able to climb on that one someday soon. Doubt they'll move that one. Those were the days........
  13. Better them than me!
  14. If that's Burntboot Peak than it looks like the photo was taken just to the south of Big Snow Mountain in the North or Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River area. I'm just going on memory with no maps to look at.
  15. Oh, just the picture of the route brings back memories of our unplanned bivy in 2001. Excellent views from the summit. We were working our way down when we can upon a couple of guys going slow. They seemed a little gripped and asked if they could join us on the decent. Our consciences got to us so we stayed with them. Hence the bivy. The sunset and sunrise was worth staying the night on the mountain.
  16. I believe I've located it. To the left under your name.
  17. Looks like you're fairly close. Maybe you could help this person out. Surfing with an Alien....Very creative.
  18. Yes, Boundary Peak, does count along with Tatoosh Peak. Don't know if I would count Stevens Peak though. We just chose to stop at Unicorn. Like I said, to do the whole traverse in a day would require an early early start with a full moon to shed some light on the night.
  19. In 1999 we ran the traverse in 1 day from Eagle to Unicorn. 1. Eagle 2. Chutla 3. Wahpenayo 4. Lane 5. Denman 6. Plummer 7. Pinnacle 8. Castle 9. Foss 10. Unicorn I guess to do the complete traverse would mean getting up in the morning a bit earlier. We started at 4 am and allowed at least 15 minutes on a summit. We took a half an hour nap on Foss. Made it to car just as it turned dark.
  20. Pretty cool Klenke. A lot more peaks noticeable that can be identified.
  21. Quote: my original question still sits--what would your reaction have been if it was you who had set the anchor? i think one person has replied that a simple sorry was enough. any others? "It's your turn"
  22. Most likely to late for this thread but Spada Lake is now gated for security reasons and of course most of those roads fall short of what the map shows. Fastest and shortest way is through Headlee Pass.
  23. I sent this photo to Lowell yesterday and he said it brought back great memories.
  24. I was up there a month ago and we had no trouble going up the Walrus Glacier. We summited pretty much in a whiteout so we could not see most of the glacier but it was more than do-able.
