  1. If it is not out yet and it hasn't already been changed, tell Fred to add another 100 feet to Mt. Spickard.
  2. I suggest doing Dome from Cascade Pass but give yourself a few more days. That = one trip (downhill) through Bachelor Creek.
  3. The east face of Great Trango is the world's tallest vertical rock face. That is what Wikipedia states.
  4. Looks like Lucky isn't getting so Lucky.
  5. Well, lets see, I spent 6 years in Anchorage as well as Fairbanks, Alaska. Does that make me the ultimate badass? Oh, and by the way, the only difference between Interior and Exterior Alaska is your choice of women.
  6. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the Sorels.
  7. ahhh...very good Klenke. You can tell by the shape of the Spirit Lake. Pre 1980 would have put me at age 12 and living somewhere in the midwest. This photo was actualy taken by a friend of mine.
  8. Minnesotans shovel 18" of snow off strangers' sidewalks wearing flannel shirts and gloves in -20 weather. For fun. Open-water snowmobiling? Minnesotans are just a different breed of badass. I spent 18 years in Minnesota as a kid and surviving the cold weather in itself makes you a badass. If you could skate a whole hockey game without going into the warming hut that made you a super badass. Tukes and Choppers are what makes a Minnesotan. And if you lived in the north as I did, you might as well consider yourself a Canadian.
  9. Nahe aber nicht nahe genug. Hinweis: Dieses Bild wurde auf einem Gipfel genommen.
  10. Come on people, this ones not that hard. Are you waiting for the Col. Klenke to answer this one? Obviously the peak has been named. Describe the Photo.
  11. Yes, we should make as few assumptions as possible. The whole thing just gets you thinking. We hope it was just a fluke accident.
  12. Yes it is possible. Sad thing to see it go though. Funny thing is that I just finished a Fire Investigation/Arson Course and there are many factor that can point to arson. Was the lodge occupid within that last few days? If not, it doesn't look good. More questions could be asked but I guess will wait and see what the investigators come up with. Those guys are good.
  13. That doesn't make the Mountaineers look good. Sounds like a win win for both parties. Authorities better be checking for any current updates to insurance policies.
  14. Like I said, this one is not all that hard.
  15. Ok, this thread has not been touch for a while and I've been meaning to add to it. Now's my chance since I bored here at work. This picture was taken in the Cascades..... Not the "North Cascades" but since this is trivia, I'll put it here. Name the peak in the distance and describe the photo. It's not all that hard.
  16. Here's my old stove story. I was coming back from Mt Whitney flying out of Reno. Southwest took my MSR stove at checkin due to it's white gas residue on the used stove. Don't ask me how they found out I had a stove. Anyways it was pain in the ass to get back after arriving back in Seattle. It didn't help that I flew back on the evening of 09/10/2001.
  17. Lowell, I believe we are talking about the SW Couloir. I was confussed for a second when the picture of the north side was posted above but realized it was just taken from the top.
  18. I can't remember what year I did it (1998?) but we went up there the day that the road openned and for me, I think it was a bit to soon. To much snow in the couloir made it just a walk up (looked the same as picture posted above). I guess it just depends on what you want to get out of it.
  19. Thanks Oly . I'm on it.
  20. My boys are 8 and I think they are ready to get out of the full body harness anyways. The Trango harness is identical.
  21. I was out to Leavenworth with my twin boys this past weekend and climbed at Playground Point. I found out that they have just about grown out of their full body harnesess so they will be going up for sale as soon as I can find replacements. Any suggestions? These ones I got at MEC and I believe they are a Rock Empire.
  22. I had the same problems and by looking at the picture of the one shown in this thread above, it looks like they redesigned this one. The 1 cup maker is the one that they first came out with and it would tip over for me often plus the base was two small to sit on top of any of my stoves. http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductD...t_cat=undefined You can see how the small cup would hang over the edge a bit. They designed it so that when the water was in the base at the bottom it would hold the cup but when the water was transfered to the cup, the base was not heavy enough to support the cup with coffee in it. I ended up tossing mine in my kitchen somewhere and never used it again. Looks like this one will not tip over so easily.
  23. Come on.....it's not that bad being a Mountaineer. Plus you do not have to live in the Republic of Fremont to qualify. Toast is right. The Everett Mountaineers have really put together an excellent program. If you are interested, I believe you can come and sit through the first lecture without a commitment and then decide if you are interested in signing up. First lecture is Feb. 7th, 7:00pm at Cascade Crags in Everett. Toast, is that rye or wheat?
