  1. One of these doesn't belong with the others. Can you pick which one? This is like a game on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, except for adults.
  2. I love you, Robbob
  3. I love that area. I cut my teeth up in there when I was younger; mostly in summers. I think I got up to 35 or 36 of the 46'ers. Giant Mtn was my fave up there. Ah, the memories of that beautiful cup of lukewarm lemonade at Johns Brook Lodge!!!
  4. Mainly becasue it's so scary looking!!! If I do climb it this year, look for a very long cheastbeater trip report! You're climbing that bitch this summer if I have to drag your ass!!!
  5. Did you want decaf or half-caf? Would you like a straw?
  6. Was talking with some dude's on Sunday on the road up to the Stuart Lake Trailhead about getting into the Enchantments in winter. There are about 7 avy chutes to cross going in from Snow Lakes Trailhead. Going in via Colchuck there are fewer areas of great concern. In summer, I still maintain that Snow Lakes is more scenic.
  7. No shit.
  8. Take it from a former midwestern manufacturing engineer (with what sounds like similar experience as you): the PNW is not the heavy duty manufacturing center that the midwest is. Aerospace, sure, but who wants to get laid off in six months? Let's face it, Boeing isn't the super safe place to work anymore. Take all that money your wife got from her dead grandmother and buy a mocha stand near a major intersection and then climb 4 days a week. You'll be better off.
  9. Sure, as long as you can make a double tall skinny mocha with whipped. Bwahahahahahaha!!!!! What kind of engineer are you?
  10. Greg, you fail to see my point: So FOI the lease and shut the fuck up already. Seriously, there has been much speculation on this thread. HOwever, several individuals have talked with Alpental management and/or FS management and gotten a somewhat foggy picture of what is going to be done/allowed. What I have read in relayed conversations is that access IS NOT being denied into the Source Lake Basin area, they are simply asking that said access be made from the "summer trail".
  11. Read carefully, marylou, nothing that is going on is preventing your access to public land. You can still park in the parking lot, you can still head up the valley. All Alpental is saying, from what I've read, is that they want to keep the trail THEY groom free of uphill traffic to avoid potentially dangerous situations due to collision with skiers coming down said trail. The USFS trail, or the "summer trail" is still accessible; some say it is better from an avy-exposure standpoint anyway.

Is that for length or girth? Then you have to divide by 2.54, remember.

I thought this thread was going to be about the penis enhancement surgery that Dru was getting the Canadian Health Care system to pay for.
  16. Inspiring photos, Chris. Now, if there weren't so much to do here in Washington...
  17. Read the posts on that Mountie thread; from one dude's discussion with one of the FS people, it tells a different story.

    LOOK!

Blue skies, dipshit. Go change your own diaper, would ya?
  19. Mounties discussion I pulled one point out of this thread, and that is that the parking lot itself IS ON FS land and people CAN park on it. What the ski area is doing is requiring backcountry users to use the "summer trail". However, one gentleman made a good point: if you're making a pre-dawn start up to Chair, who's gonna see you? Plus, it's open to "down hill users"; when you're walking out, you're a downhill user. Roark
  20. Your interpretation is what I read, as well, Matt. What I don't understand is the part about not being allowed to head up the trail at the end of the lot in question (walking past the water tower). I've never run into skiers/boarders from the ski area on that trail. Further, regarding the lease, from what I am reading, we should be attempting to work with the FS to include an addendum that allows backcountry users (i.e., non-lift ticket buyers) to park in the upper lot. This, I would think, is something that Andy Fitz and the Access Fund would be able to help with.
  21. Yeah, fuck off!! Ya fucking prick-nosed, cornholing, cum-guzzler!!!

    Who let Dru out?

    Hey, they're both pointy-headed!!!
  23. I didn't really tear up my hands on Deception; it's not too bad, just one not-so-secure jam and then you're good.
  24. Good one. With all those nice jams, why fuck it up by laying it back? To save the skin on your hands for the crack to the right of it about 20 ft. I still have the scars from my flailing from 7 years ago. Besides, laying it back is how Becky did it! 20' right? You mean 'Deception Crack' (5.9) or 'Twin Crack' (5.8) just to the left? Who's Becky? I heard that Fred Beckey laid it back, but that was before jamming really took off.
