[TR] Nooksack Tower - Beckey-Schmidtke/Upper North Face 7/22/2013
sepultura replied to JasonG's topic in North Cascades
Way to go Choss Dogs! Been waiting for your TR Jason, and the pics are awesome as always. Hell of a handsome crew with Gordo AND Trent along. You have been tearing it up this Summer! We knew Trent would not be denied after the last time on the route. Solid work gentlemen! Me so jealous... -
Beautiful pics Jason! but I know it is hard to get a bad shot when Gordo is in the frame. For sure makes we want to get back into that area, its hard to believe it has been 16 years since Dallas, Chris and I did the traverse. How many more years do we have to wait to try and get Skookum peak renamed Kloke Peak?
-
Hey Tom, I have been meaning to ask you how you feel Seapho holds up, difficulty wise, to the peaks included on the Kloke list? I know Dallas climbed Seapho way back when but did not include it...but maybe they had different conditions and less snow recession.... I sure sounds harder by the standard route(although a standard route on Cloudcap sounds laughable), than say Burgundy Spire, but maybe an easier way to the summit exists?
-
Sweet! Looks like fun, that sure is an awesome spot. Save a few fall summits for me Jason! (and whiskey)

At first I thought " That is Madness" all those people on Baker, and then I realize it is not the mountain they seek, but the chance to be seen with(or just see!)the legendary Euro Canuck Guide Gordo Fausto, and it all becomes quite clear....
-
That is a great resource, thanks!!!

Wicked! Probably the first solo of Lincoln? A lot more snow in the upper gully than when Dallas Kloke and I did Lincoln in the stone age, it was in late July or early August though..... That approach road is classic! when I went in to give Assassin Spire a go some years back there was a group of hillbillies camped in the road having a bonfire, we had to drive around the party! A reasonable and less car damaging way to approach Lincoln is via the Heliotrope and Thunder Glacier, but who know when that road will be open again. Nice work !

Way to go Tom! Repeating more of the Difficult ones. Definitely hard driving. I have still not forgotten my first unplanned bivy coming off of Nooksack Tower in 2000! -

Hey Steph, glad to hear you got it done! Happy to know that injury is not slowing you down too much! -
Wicked! I miss that Hozo already. Its great when you can find a true Euro Choss Guide like Gordo Fausto. And what a handsome man.
-
This is a great cause! Yes thanks John and Steph. Count the Choss Dogs in on this one. I am going to donate right now.

The I5 Skagit River bridge just collapsed
sepultura replied to tvashtarkatena's topic in Climber's Board
Seems Bronco is on to the Choss Dogs plan to keep the Southern Tribes out of the Skagit Mountains. Treaties have been disregarded about the number of Subaru's, GoPro cams, and blue Goretex pants allowed into the sacred lands of the Skagit. If this continues........ HWY 9 bridge could be next. -
The I5 Skagit River bridge just collapsed
sepultura replied to tvashtarkatena's topic in Climber's Board
I heard DOT officials are also looking to question two pigeons who landed on the bridge at the same time the trucker struck the bridge, thus ultimately causing the who rotten thing to collapse. The hope is that the pigeons are insured. No worries though, a cheap third world solution has been found: Sink old semi retired WS Ferry horizontally in the river and secure with sunk motorhomes and rail cars. Attach gang planks to shore and have traffic drive straight through! -
[TR] Spearhead Traverse - Blackcomb to Whistler 4/22/2013
sepultura replied to JasonG's topic in British Columbia/Canada
Great photos Jason! (as usual). It was a pleasure to repeat the Spearhead with you and our handsome and competent euro guide Gordo Fausto. Thanks for keeping me feed and hydrated that first frigid night guys(and changing my diaper). Note to self: Do not expect your hydration hose not to freeze up on the Spearhead in April! A couple more photos... -
[TR] Washington State - 10 Most Difficult Peaks 9/25/2011
sepultura replied to Tom_Sjolseth's topic in North Cascades
Thanks Tom for such a comprehensive and detailed report of the "Terrible Ten". Your perseverance and suffer ability is admirable to say the least. The fact that you have repeated several of these test pieces multiple times gives you true Cascadian Hard Man status and Honorary membership in the Choss Dog Millionaires. Hell I am just a choss puppy by these standards you have set! The fact that I am only half way through the list, and no summers in state anymore means I may never get a chance to complete it, but your write up has certainly inspired me to want too!(I think). Dallas would for sure be proud of your accomplishment and recognition of his 10 Most Difficult Peaks list. Do you know of others who have competed this list? Can the Holy Grail completion of the Repulsive 69 be within your sights? Thanks again for this TR, truly inspiring!! -
Awesome trip Jason and Crew, that really is a great way to go up Silverstar. I heard Fausto was working on his full back tattoo of the" Canadian Hunter" Its gonna be wicked sick. Those Canadian Euro guides are a hard act to follow!

Looks like a great trip! It is a really nice hut and stunning terrain. Years ago when I was living in Canmore for the winter I helped a buddy porter a load into that hut after some people bailed on him. Its a long ways with 80 lbs in the pack. Bummer was we went in, spent the night an had to haul some stuff back out the next day. Your photos have inspired me to go back and enjoy the place. Thanks!

Thanks for the great trip Jason and Tim! Gotta love those border peaks.

Really at a loss for words, simply outstanding! Why are you not being filmed and sponsored? You make what the heli-cheaters do seem like child's play. The real deal is happening right here in the Cascades.... -
