  1. Yojimbo is a great film. It's pretty much a masterpiece. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. See it on the biggest, loudest screen you can find.
  2. I agree with Dru!
  3. Nah, he's the best. Him, or Fellini, and possibly Bergman.
  4. Reminds me of my "Last Exit Live in Tokyo", except with the addition of Peter Brotzmann. It's pretty much the same thing.
  5. Quick wires: And those new little locking biners by BD are awesome. Throw in a couple of nice pear shaped lockers for harness work, and some locking ovals for general rigging, and you're good to go.
  6. Yes we do, and I'm still reading the same books. Fatland (almost done though) The Making of the Atom Bomb Hmm... I'm gonna go out and buy that book on Krakatoa.
  7. Matrix: Kurosawa: THE GREATEST FILMMAKER THAT EVER LIVED.
  8. Eugene in the house! Can't wait to see the slideshow!
  9. WOW. That's a pretty good imitation, Trask!
  10. Hey, Fejas! That movie will also be at the McDonald on the 20th. Bend will probably more fun though, and you get to hang with Timmay. Anyway, I''m going to go to the McDonald showing. Have fun in Bend! Let's go do some skiing!
  11. Hey Timmy, Are you gonna show me around Bachelor this winter if I come up with some skis?
  12. You guys are WAAAAAY off about the formation of Israel. The idea of a Jewish state was being kicked around as early as 1897, during the first Zionist Congress in Vienna, Austria. And FYI, its was the Balfour Declaration, drafted by prominent Jewish members of the British cabinet in 1917, that laid out the foundations for a lawful return of the Jews to Palestine. So Israel was not an afterthought or a consolation prize of what happened druing WWII. Not to mention the fact that Jews are ORIGINALLY from Palestine/Israel, so it's not like some random spot on the map was picked.
  13. Okay, Petzl doesn't list an Arctic anymore on it's website. Is that headlamp really discontinued? Just having to carry one 4.5V beats the hell out of carrying 4 AA's or 4 C's. Plus, the flat batteries seem to last forever. Man that's too bad, cuz what I really want is my Arctic with LED's.
  14. I swerved and then stopped to avoid hitting a couple of red squirrels that were playing in the road.
  15. Interesting question RuMR. I've often wondered what several individuals are like. The 3 or 4 that I've met are just like they are on the site, pretty nice folks. But I've yet to meet the hardcore sprayer/chestbeater types. I try to keep the BS to a minimum, but I agree with whoever said that sometimes it gets pretty funny. I also agree with Adventure Gal, who fucking knows what some of these lurkers are actually like in reality? But by and large, I think a majority of the people here are not assholes. I could be wrong, as sometimes the spray gets pretty acerbic. Funny, I do the same thing as AG, I always put my real name in my pms! hmmm.......
  16. BBBBZZZZZZZT! WRONG! It was Paul Hardcastle.
  17. Yeah, it sucks, but the Democrats just don't know how to put up a good opponent. I've had it with G "dubya" B as well. The sooner we're rid of him, the better.
  18. We stop supporting Israel, watch what they do. Trask, unfortunately, is probably right. WWIII. And despite all of the understandable pessimism regarding the current state of affairs in said region, I for one would like nothing more than to see it a stable place. aside from my own personal feeling about Israel, even just as a human, for some reason, I find what happens to the birthplace of the world's three biggest religions to have some consequences for all of us, no matter how geographically removed we may be. And even though to a lot of you it appears intractable, and that extremists run both governments, a vast majority of the people that live there, Israeli and Palestinian alike, just want to go home at night and hang out with their friends and family, and maybe catch "Three's Company" in Arabic. And Egypt and Israel signed a peace treaty, so there is precedent. Not likely soon, but let's hope.
  19. "wait, how do you tie this?" "Dude, it's a figure eight follow through" "I know, I just haven't climbed in a while"
  20. Rainier Wolfcastle? hey didn't you write that song "Nineteen?" na-na-na-na-nineteen?
  21. I've quickened my pace often at Smith.
  22. One time as I was walking out of the park, I was walking past 5 Gallon Buckets, and there at the third bolt, was this big fat guy, that clipped himself to the bolt with a daisy chain, and was untying from the rope!! WTF?!! I quickened my pace.
  23. Getting ready to climb Ginger Snap, a girl comes up to me and asks: "What are you going to climb? "Ginger Snap" "Oh, it looks like you're going to climb this one (points to "Lichen it")" "nope, that one back there, see it?" "Oh well, can we climb this one then?" "Ask them" as I point to a LINE OF PEOPLE WAITING TO CLIMB.
