  1. Werd. We should have one at Zeke's on Phinney again. NO JIBBING??? whatever, dude.
  2. I like that, matt, and I fully agree. Maybe we all just need a post like that a bit more often. I like spray, it's entertaining, but it can be like ivy, nice at first, but soon it chokes the life out of everything. It needs to be pruned occasionally.
  3. Skykilo, David_Coleman, and I headed up to Baker (again) to try to ski the Park Headwall. An unlikely proposal, but we figured we might get some decent skiing in even if we didn't summit. We got turned around by crevasses at app. 9000 feet. The skiing was FANTABULOUS. Perfect corn for a few thousand feet. Photos and longer TR here .
  4. Honestly, I've been posting my TRs on Turns-all-year and mtncommunity.org lately. I'll do my best to reverse the trend.
  5. Hehehe. I was hoping that you would realize I was kidding there. But I don't like the Climber's Board being flooded with Pub Club posts. We should encourage people to post TRs. And come on, we're all adults here (except me ), even if we don't act it. Is it really too much to ask for people to keep flame wars out of TRs? Please?
  6. CC.com is heading in the wrong direction. The Climber's Board is full of 'pub club' posts, spray has moved from Spray to everywhere, and people (me included) refrain from posting TRs due to worries of put-downs and other spray taking over the thread. Solution: Keep spray in Spray. It should be common courtesy not to blast someone's TR just because you think their climb is not worthy of being reported. I enjoy hearing what people have done. Secondly, and this is the biggie. I propose a new PUB CLUB FORUM where everybody who lives for Pub Club, not the mountains, can post. But seriously, folks, let's encourage TRs, not discourage them.
  7. I went to the Stoned Gardens yesterday. Does that count?
  8. Do I have an opinion on bolt placement and sport climbing? I sure do, and I've stated it and why I feel that way many times. My beef with your anti-bolt posts is that you rarely, if ever, make a coherent argument. I still haven't figured out what your opinion on bolting is other than "sport climbers are gay" and "bolts suck". Give a reasonable argument that's well-thought out, and I'll listen. Up to now, though, I don't see any reason to take you seriously. I make it a point to include some thoughtful replies occationally, not just spray. You, on the other hand, don't seem to do this. Ahoy! as you'd say. Sport climbing is here to stay, and I'll enjoy it as long as it stays at sport crags. BTW, yes, there is a lot of spray on this site, but does that mean that you have to spray exclusively? I think not.
  9. Dude....something as important as the bolt-debate IS NOT SPRAY. As sport-"climbing" is utterly bolt dependent, and sport-"climbing" is considered a form of rock-climbing, then it belongs right here. Develop a consensus that sport-"climbing" is not rock climbing (or even climbing) and I MIGHT take the topic elsewhere. Even still, there are other issues such as bolts placed next to aid cracks in order to facilitate free climbing or to "protect the crack" ala Index. And there's more... Proper application of rock anchors and ethics = SPRAY???? Yes, I have convictions...and I will continue to share them when I feel it is appropriate until everyone understands that there is a serious issue, whether they agree with it or not. For example, I contend that most new sporto's have NO CLUE that their easily acquired new hobby is consided by some to be controversial or ethically dubious. - Dwayner Dwayner, the entire problem with your anti-bolt spray is in the way that you present it. When you make blanket statements, crowing 'sport climbing is neither', or post photos implying that sport climbers are gay, you fail to present a thought-out, reasonable argument. It's the same as politics. You very rarely make a coherent, convincing statement against bolting. Instead you spout meaningless phrases of your own devising that makes you lose credibility in the eyes of most people. I have never read a post of yours which seriously discusses bolting cracks, 'proper application of anchors', or dubious ethics. Your manner of 'sharing convictions' is pointless, destructive, and makes everyone regard you as a joke. State your points concisly, accurately, and make a coherent argument, instead of spewing from the high horse. Sorry, bud, your spray is just that: spray. And believe, me, your shit does stink.

    City of Rocks

It's a great area, good rock, lots of classic trad lines, LOTS of rock. Enjoy it, but watch out for cows when camping!

    fat chicks . . .

    Or too damn young.
  12. The good thing about having parents who climb is that they tend to be supportive of my being a gear whore. Good times!
  13. I'm skiing that thing this year.
  14. sometimes they just get lucky Erik, you don't know anything about these guys. How the hell do you know how sketched out they were and what better options there were without being there? Sky and Jeff are two tough bastards, and they've done enough in the mountains to judge what they can and can't do. So quit preaching and shut up.
  15. An accurate comparison, actually.
  16. Sky, this is cc.com. Just respond with a .
  17. That's not just how I climb. That's how I live my whole life. You guys should taken me along! Arrggh!
  18. Sounds like you guys had fun! Sorry to hear about the dog.
  19. To SkyKilo(meter)- To Dave- To Catbirdseat- To Klenke-
  20. How is the Roosevelt? And the Talum? Just kidding. I think Dave is shooting for skiing the Park Headwall, though. He isn't really a climber, he skins up glaciers even in mid-August! Sorry, Dave, couldn't resist.
  21. Wait till next weekend, then I can join you. -Paul
  22. My dorm room is carpeted, and I'm too lazy to vacuum. So now I've got a big sheet of nylon covered in wax curls.
  23. Scraping makes a mess, the actual waxing doesn't.
