  1. If a screams rips at 2kN, it won't rip on a typical fall. I weigh about 1kN, and am rarely yanked up when a partner falls. So typical force on a belayer is significantly less than 2-5kN.
  2. You couldn't pay me to ski in climbing boots. Unless it's truly flat.
  3. I think Colin and I are very nearly of exactly the same age. Weren't you the one trying desperately to gain weight before going ice climbing, Dru? Punter.
  4. Man, I can SO TOtally relate! Fuck, it's been...lessee...FIVE DAYS since I last went skiing! Man, life's rough. Be strong, Rudy, you're not the only one who has to wait interminable periods between having fun. Cough, cough.
  5. I have a pair, but have only used them a handful of times (too busy skiing ). I came from uninsulated leathers as well, these are way warmer than my old Sportiva Eigers. The sole is a bit fragile, chunks of rubber around the edges have been ripped out. Haven't done any postholing, so I can't comment on the waterproofness. I think I'll seamgrip the seams for better abraision resistance. Very light and dexterous. I wouldn't mind them being a bit stiffer, but I put more leverage on the sole than most. I have wide, flat feet, and these fit pretty well.
  6. Don't be silly, cj001f, just 'get over it'.
  7. Gee, like, maybe HAVE A LESS THAN PERFECT NATIONAL GUARD RECORD??????
  8. Your jacket might be defiant but mine is magnanimous! Defy that!!
  9. yes. fixed heel. E-Rock. I was on a hut trip w/a 10 mile approach, 6 or so is meadow flat. Sure, splitboarders made it in. Sure they can log vertical. Did it look like the best tool for the job - hell no. The best tool for the job when the job is flat is a dog team. Or snowmobile.
  10. Their 'belay jacket' is even better than the Coal, and I found one on sale for 99 bucks!! I also have the 6mo night and find it's overkill for most of my winter trips, ie, skiing. Good for belaying at Smith, though.
  11. Either way, there are no dynafit compatible Adrenalines or Denali TTs.
  12. Happy Birthday, man. Damn, but you're getting old. Soon you'll be like Rudy!!
  13. I wish they made a Denali with dyafit fittings. Hey Scarpa:
  14. I can't wait until you're arrested for drunk and disorderly.
  15. Would you like some cheese or crackers with your whine?
  16. I have to admit that my Ice Floes work pretty well for biking to school each morning. Props to Cloudveil.
  17. I'm an AT skier, but regularly ski with splitboarders, and must point out that Freeman is full of shit on all points. I have never been significantly held up by my boarder friends.
  18. You guys are harsh! And I haven't even sprayed on your thread (until now )!!
