-

-
i'm wearing a red bra and black panties and a blue dress. what does that say? i'm so confused
-
dr b...you're treading on thin ice.
-
awww trask, you say the sweetest things. when are we having lunch again?
-
i like flavored tofu just fine especially spicy. maybe it's the psychology of the concept, i don't like the flavor they use to make it taste like meat.
-
thanks trask. it was nice...lunch that is
-
despite my vegetarian ways, i have never learned to eat "fake/soy" meat. facon, soysage, fake burgers, tofurkey and the like don't taste like meat, they don't taste good at all.
-
rather ordinary and not as swedish as i used to look.
-
nope...sorry. i have the attention span of a gnat and lost full attention to this thread a page or so ago. hmmm...when i was in france some folks thought i was swedish and bought me a cup of coffee
-
are there any great canadian patriots or are you folks just stuck up there together by default?
-

by your definition scrambler, if i don't think you and i have enough in common then then we don't need to be part of the same meaningful collective, so i don't need to be patriotic. so "patriotism" might be defined as a meaningless contrivance and any politition who peddles can be rejected as pushing a bullshit agenda. yes...that would seem to be what he's saying although i kind of doubt that's what he really means. we don't all have to agree or even be all that similar if there is one over riding thing we're supporting. it seems to me that in times past, the people of this country rallied around the concept of democracy and the freedoms provided to us by the constitution. they truly believed that it was a duty to protect these things. many felt that there was an obligation to spread the concept through out the world. today it seems that we pay lip service to these ideals but we(speaking generally here...i don't mean every single person) surely don't hold them as dear as generations past. perhaps that's the common bond we could/should all share to unite us as a nation. as part of a corporate entity, i am very different from many if not most of my coworkers. despite not sharing many things in common we are all able to work together towards the larger goal...success of our company. sharing many common traits is not a requirement for uniting. having one strong thing in common can bond a large group.

my definitation of patriotism... i don't think it involves specific borders. i'm always fascinated by the olympics. people from different countries competing against each other. this seems so odd and irrelevant to me. borders in many parts of the world change often. they're really just arbitrary lines on a map. it doesn't make the people who live on one side it very much different than the people on the other side. the ideals and concepts set forth in our consitution are worth supporting. my patriotism doesn't relate to our country as a geographic entity but rather the ideas by which we govern that area.

no, they're family. they weren't invited. they came with the package. i was reminded recently just how much riff raff there is in my family. i was also reminded that underneath a rather displeasing exterior, some of them are truly good people.
-
yes, the definition of what consititutes a patriotic act does vary with the individual. some people consider protesting the war in iraq to be unpatriotic. i see it is as a very patriotic thing since i feel that it would've been best for us to stay out of iraq.

with all due respect to pope and dwayner, their climbing accomplishments and knowledge, i am sooooooooo tired of this. anybody else? talk about beating a dead horse. come on pope, i'm sure you're capable of something new. why hit the same schtick over and over?

hey this was a toilet accessory thread! not a poo thread!
-
my very sensible date (that doesn't explain why was with me) from last evening, offered up some very practical explanations. (needless to say i won't be seeing him again) after he finished looking at me like i was from another planet when i asked, he offered up the following: a) it keeps the porcelin from "clanking" w/the tank when the sit is raised b) it keeps your tush warm if you sit down to dress or dry off after your shower.

that fuzzy thing on the toilet seat....why? when i moved into my house it was fully furnished, right down to a fuzzy thing on the toilet seat. i've never seen the point of this accessory.

there's plenty of stuff that gets posted in other forums that drifts off topic and even turns into interesting spray. i'd agree that part of it could be moved to spray and relevant parts left in the appropriate forum. sorry to hear about your experience at 15
