    poison oak

If you suspect you've contacted poison oak or ivy, try to avoid rubbing or chafing the area before you can wash thoroughly. Don't scratch with your fingers, it get's it into the skin and you'll be affected a lot worse.
  2. I was rapping the route on Dark Rhythm and the anchors are so well camouflaged that I once went 15 ft or so past one of them on a 60 m rope. The Reverso in the "ratchet" mode would have been nifty for scrambling back up the slab to the anchor.

    Drug testing

There are different types of tests. Some are just inexpensive screens that are less accurate and specific. However, once you are suspected, if they want to spend the money, they can use LC-MS and that data will hold up in court any day.

    Luke!!!

Next thing you know, DFA will win a set of ice tools. Luke, can I have your rope if you don't want it?

    Drug testing

There was a case in which the berberine in goldenseal made a drug test come out POSITIVE. This got turned around in folklore to where it make the test come out negative.

    Drug testing

All I'm saying is that if you get caught trying to evade or defeat the system, the consequences could be worse than a postive test result. Find out what the deal is. Most times you won't lose your job. Chances are they just have you talk with your supervisor and come to some agreement.
  7. Jason, that put it over the top for me. I'm going to buy a reverso. They are so versatile.

I think you better have a good story. Maybe you got it second hand? Good luck, you'll need it.
  9. The American press likes to portray the muslim world as a homogenious population, but in fact there are many different ethnic groups, sects, etc. The rabid ones represented by the cartoon above are still in the minority although a large one, but if we keep up with stunts like humiliating prisoners they WILL be the majority.
  10. MrDoolittle was too nice to last as long as he did. If you come back, come back as a more Necrotic type avatar.
  11. All you can do is spread the word about ethics to the new people when you see them and hope they get the message. Kids are born trashers until they learn otherwise.
  12. Tell that to Dru, but only if you want to.
  13. TLG, how do you finance your lifestyle?
  14. Claim your page top, Greg.
  15. the more extreme the predicament the more i laugh at dumb asses who actually would think it's probable they would find themselves in such a situation. Come on Dru, no one used the word "probable". You did. My little brother and I used to play the What If game and all the scenarios were highly improbable if not impossible, but that didn't stop us from having our fun.
  16. Naturally, but this is the What If game. The more extreme the predicament, the more compelling it is.
  17. Naturally, that would be preferred, and yes I did ask. They want someone to work four hours every morning.
  18. My hours just got cut in half. Looks like I'll be doing a lot of afternoon cragging starting next week until I can find a new job. Getting off at 11 am, there are lots of possibilities, Index, Exit 32, Mt. Erie. Hmmm.
  19. They should be shot. It is just this sort of thing that could make the difference between victory and defeat.
  20. There are a lot of big talkers, but I disagree that the average age is younger than other sites. I'd say it's older. Just go look at RC.com. The average is in the lower 20's, if I had to guess. 70% 17-19 year old boulderers, 20% 25 year old sport climbers and 10% old school trad climbers.
  21. There was a story in the Burgess brother's book about this guy they used to climb with who took a leader fall and got so sketched he panicked and hand over handed up the free hanging rope and back onto the rock. All they could do is shake their heads and say, "damn!".
  22. What is it about aluminum that makes it behave differently from steel with regard to stress cycling? This effect accounts for why airplanes have to be retired after so many takeoffs and landings. Sometimes the wings fall off.
  23. I prefer Greg's answer. It allows for more plot development.
  24. Okay, Iain, let's play the "What If?" game. What would you do if, you rapped down, your rope ends were uneven, you didn't tie knots and one end went zigging through your device. You are holding yourself by pinching the ropes with you guide hand and your brake hand still has hold of the one strand through your device. What would you do?
  25. Why does my avatar image keep changing by itself?
