  1. Lummox, I think you hit the nail on the head. Those nail guns don't go off by accident. You have to push hard on them, unless the gun was illegally modified, which I am sure happens a lot.
  2. Dryad can pick up a pair of La Sportiva Cobra slippers for you on sale in France for $44 EU (or $53 US). We're getting ripped off here, big time.
  3. Iain, did I tell you about my rock collection? I keep it right next to my nail gun.
  4. "About 150 students attended the dance, Tate said. All had to meet academic and behavioral standards to be invited."
  5. Baggage = Babies, i.e. Single Moms
  6. It would be terribly gruesome.
  7. I would believe that.
  8. Welcome to alpine climbing. A very entertaining and unusually lucid TR for Mr. Wind.
  9. A friend of mine is taking her Alphas with her to Denali in two weeks. She has the thermo molded liners. I asked her if she was sure they were warm enough. She said that with the overboots, they would be.
  10. One of these might be useful for packing.
  11. You can't top AlpineK's tree chipper.
  12. Confidence men are always the most likeable sort.
  13. What do you mean "except online"? GregW only exists online.
  14. It depends on whether you are hiking on trail or scrambling, doesn't it?
  15. I hear so many people mention how such and such a politician is "likeable". Why is that important? None of us have to work around the guy every day. It's not like you are interviewing him to be your coworker. Who gives a shit if he is likeable, if he can get the job done? I'll bet GregW gets the job done, even though he's as prickly as a porcupine, not that I'd necessarily vote for him.
  16. I was told is that the Intuition liners don't compress as quickly as the Alveolite liners. Is that true?
  17. Free solo everything. You don't need much money for that except perhaps air fare. Leave a will so the money goes to your favorite charities. Make sure you remember timmy and jon in your will. They got expenses you know. "Where there's a will, prosperity is just around the corner". --W.C. Fields.
  18. It must be karma. I seem to remember something about a lonesome shoe...
  19. I don't like to have my rack in the bottom of the pack because it messes up the weight distribution, although lower may be better if the approach is more technical as Dru suggests. Since it is the most dense piece of equipment in the pack, I try to locate it more towards the center by putting extra clothes and slings in first. I just put it in a stuff sack.
  20. That piece of advice is already dated. There are better liners and boots available now, like the Intuition liners and Scarpa Alphas. My understanding is that Twight used Invernos. You may or may not be able to size the shells smaller than you would with the standard liners. The Alphas are lighter, smaller and more flexible and with the thermo molded Intuition liners are just as warm. Furthermore they don't absorb moisture.
  21. I am just speculating, but it may be the water entrapment issue has less to do with corrosion and more to do with freeze/ thaw? Perhaps frozen water crystals are able to break the bond between epoxy and rock?
  22. I would be accurate to say that it starts 50 ft to the left of the Dark Rhythm anchors at Blueberry Terrace. The two diverge by hudreds of feet from there.
  23. Almost anything at Erie can be protected mostly with stoppers.
