  2. Ah, I hear the sweet sound of chainsaws...
  3. Officials in the Dept. of Interior have decided to overrule the scientists in the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife to declare our Washington and Oregon population of Murrelets are not a distinct population and are therefore expendable. So I want to ask all you Canadians to take real good care of our Marbled Murrelets after we exterpate our local population. We know we can count on you to preserve this endangered species.
  4. The East Coast has many advantages. First of all it's flat so you never have to walk up hill. Second of all, population density is very high, so if you want to go visit your neighbor, you don't have to walk very far. Also, it's much easier to get the deep fat fried foods one craves. You can buy landlocked property for cheap and end up with an ocean front lot. There are many, many reasons to live on the east coast.
  5. Gowans, politics may suck, but it is far preferable to the alternative, IMHO. There are those among us who may disagree. There was a time when all disagreements were solved through war. This still is the norm in many parts of the world.
  6. I couldn't agree more with you Merv. The right to protest peacefully should not be prevented, but go over the line to violence and you should be busted. Protesters who cover their faces can only be doing this because they have committed or plan to commit crimes. Someone who is proud to raise their voice in opposition shouldn't be afraid to have their identity known.
  7. Pax, who was there? I would have come, but I was playing with the jazz band. Did anyone get pictures?
  8. Trans-fatty acids- they are everywhere!
  9. Like this?
  10. Seems like it would be easier to create intermediate rap stations on the route than to blaze a trail down the wild and wooly backside. Just replacing the existing tat with chain as mtnfreak proposes would be a big plus.
  11. They will learn what germinates from the seeds of appeasment.
  12. I'll bet the next time you are a passenger and you start to feel sick, you'll think about this story and ask the driver to pull over.
  13. The very reason why asbestos is so damaging to the lungs. Nano technology opens up a whole new vistas of occupational hazards.
  14. It's all good, dude. I was just trying to come up with a hasty algorithm. I realize now that my formula doesn't take into consideration a number of factors like the distance to the first clip or the sharpness of the rocks in the crater zone.
  15. When he was only 18 months old he picked up his first stick and started waving it around. The rest is history.
  16. I don't oppose genetically modified foods categorically as long as they are labeled as such so that the consumer can make an informed choice.
  17. It's like asking a goat for a restaurant recommendation... You can leave me out of this discussion. I wasn't even going to post until you dragged me into it. I don't use a stick clip. Since you asked, though, I decided to make proposed algorithm: Loserdom = B-A+2, if the result is positive and you are using a stick clip where A= Your top rope limit and B =Route Difficulty Example: top rope limit 5.10. Route difficulty 5.8. 8-10+2=0 If you stick clipped you are borderline suck. If you top rope at 5.11 and stick clipped this route, you would rate -1, well into the suck range.

    Lies?

...and Michael Layton still wouldn't be able to get a date.
  21. I was just being honest. An 8 year old can have an opinion, but it probably wouldn't carry much weight as somone who was eligible for the draft at the time. So I am asking the older climbers here what they think. My opinion ran contrary to that of my parents. Greg you probably just parroted whatever pap your parents fed you.
  22. There were a large number of editorials published in Today's Seattle Times in response to the Time's endorsement of John Kerry for president on August 27. The following was one of them: My question to you all is, if you were around in the 1960's and opposed the war, was it a fashion statement for you? I was too young to know what was really going on, but I thought the war was stupid.
  23. Darrington was our original plan, but we bailed in favor of Leavenworth when we saw the weather report. We thought, "hmmm, 54% chance of precip in Darrington versus, 5% chance in Leavenworth; which should we choose?"
  24. Who gives a shit, anyway? Just climb.
  25. Gritscone DOES have an 11a and an 11d.
