kanye west would be happy to tell you i seem to recall it might have had something to do with the democratic party being for the civil rights movement when the repubs were bitterly opposed to it...the republican party later aggrresively calling for every drug dealer (black man in the projects) to be locked up the rest of his life while cutting social services for po'folk and taxes for whitey probably helped too Little known fact: when the republican Richard Nixon took office 70 percent of schools in the south were still segregated. Since I was in High school myself then, it seems like recent history. It was Nixon and his secretary of state, John Mitchell, who really finished tossing out the old south. That one thing being in his favor and being said: Nixon was a power hungry asswipe may he rot in hell for eternity. The fact that a decent political argument on the facts themselves can't stand alone anymore without an immediate racism debate flaring indicates to me that many of our countrymen and ourselves are still widely deceiving ourselves that race issues are/were solved and behind us. After all, we have a Black President. Done! Fixed! Over! Ta DA!!!

Rather than reminding the women that prostitution is dangerous and illegal and advising them to change their careers, counselors at the social-services group shockingly offer suggestions on how they can launder their earnings. "Honesty is not going to get you the house," a loan counselor at the offices told two activists posing as a mortgage-seeking pimp and prostitute. "You can't say what you do for a living." ACORN workers in two other cities, Baltimore and Washington, DC, had already fallen hooker, line and sinker for the hidden-camera sting operation by two conservative activists. Four ACORN employees have been fired as a result of the earlier videos, and last Friday the Census Bureau severed its ties with the group, whose members had been hired to do canvassing during the 2010 census. Mayor Bloomberg spoke out on the controversy today. "Prostitution is illegal in this state and I don't know why they would -- why an organization like ACORN, who's trying to encourage voter turnout and voter registration, why they're getting involved in any of that stuff," Bloomberg said. "But clearly it's not appropriate and they shouldn't have been doing it. Whether they broke a law or not I don't know. You'll have to talk to the legal (authorities)." The Brooklyn DA's office announced today it would be investigating the group. In an unrelated outrage, ACORN was accused of widespread voter fraud during the 2008 presidential election by helping unqualified voters to register. As in prior videos released by the filmmaking team of James O'Keefe, 25, and Hannah Giles, 20, employees of the group -- which specializes in housing and voter activism -- were eager to dispense advice on gaming the system and skirting the law. "You know, what goes on in the house we don't care," one counselor said. "We just help you with the mortgage." O'Keefe and Giles were garishly dressed as a stereotypical pimp and prostitute. O'Keefe was decked out in excessively snazzy flesh-peddler couture, and Giles, going by the name "Eden," wore almost nothing. The ACORN workers were not the slightest bit judgmental or put off by the request for help in getting financing for a brothel. Counselor Volda Albert freely offered financial advice. "I can't tell you don't do it, because you won't listen to me," Albert said. For tax and banking purposes, and to establish a legitimate income and credit history, Giles was told she needed to start saying she was a "freelancer." "Don't say that you're a prostitute thing or whatever," she said. Albert also suggested that Giles open two accounts at separate banks, depositing no more than $500 each a week to ensure few eyebrows are raised. As for the rest of the money she earned from turning tricks, Albert told her to hide it away. "When you buy the house with a back yard. You get a tin . . . and bury it down in there, and you put the money right in, and you put grass over it, and you don't tell a single soul but yourself where it is," she said. Albert even had advice on protecting O'Keefe from getting tied by authorities to Giles' prostitution. Her illegally obtained revenue could be given to O'Keefe through an intermediary, and then he could use it for a down payment on the house by applying for a "no doc" loan. In the earlier videos, counselors offered similar suggestions to a "prostitute," telling her to list her occupation as "performance artist," and even offering advice on how to claim as dependants underage girls recruited for the business. Milagros Rivera, the Brooklyn office administrator advised Giles, "don't get caught -- it's against the law what you are doing, and there's a chance you'll get caught." Before bidding them good luck, Albert offered two final suggestions. "Save for a rainy day," she said. "And live well." O'Keefe, who majored in philosophy at Rutgers University, said he and Giles funded the project themselves. This kind of undercover, guerrilla tactic is the "future of investigative journalism and political activism," he said. Inspired by "Rules for Radicals," Saul Alinsky's bible for rabble-rousing, more often associated with the left, O'Keefe said he has been targeting and exposing the "absurdities of the enemy by employing their own rules and language." "If you can make impossible demands on your enemy, you can destroy them," he said. So he began using a hidden camera "in a location I'd rather not disclose" and started visiting ACORN offices around the Northeast. As with a series of videos O'Keefe made in 2008, in which Planned Parenthood employees agreed to earmark his donations for the abortions of African-American babies, he said he expected ACORN would yield maybe "a few gotcha moments." "But we never imagined they would all comply -- it's just disgusting they didn't just throw us out of the office," he said. In a statement released Saturday, ACORN said that it could not defend the actions of its employees but that what O'Keefe and Giles did was criminal. "And, in fact, a crime it was -- our lawyers believe a felony -- and we will be taking legal action against Fox and their co-conspirators," the statement said. Fox News aired the Baltimore and Washington tapes. O'Keefe said, "ACORN wants it both ways." "You can't fire the employees and then say I have defamed them," he said. jeremy.olshan The scandal surrounding the left-wing activist organization ACORN has spread to New York, with employees at its Brooklyn office caught on video helping supposed ladies of the night get loans for their dream houses of ill repute.Rather than reminding the women that prostitution is dangerous and illegal and advising them to change their careers, counselors at the social-services group shockingly offer suggestions on how they can launder their earnings. did you see the part where the "new" Bin Laden called it Iron? As a building contractor, they say he would have called it steel.

Man that bites, but don't give up just yet. Dude may have been totally disoriented and wasted when he got down, and only realized that he owes you so big once he got back...maybe he's still good for it. People are good. (crossing fingers and holding breath here) -
Do papercuts and ping pong accidents count cause if they do I'll be jumping in right here in a big way. Jus sayin'....

THAT IS AWESOME!!!! LOL! (embarrassed to say I didn't even think of it!) Mark, If I had even a single picture of those days it would be yours. At one time I had a pic of my brother on some steep near vertical water ice that forms on Mt Emily on occasion...styling with 10 point crampons, wool shirt and pants with a single ice axe, but don't even know where that is. Good luck! -
Thanks for sayin it Marc. Regards

Hah! Just last night my wife of 29 years was saying that I was way out of shape. I knew that saying "hey I'm still cruising 5.10" was meaningless so I just used the classic Scott Peterson line as she was doing that eyebrow arch thing and giving tubby hubby the stink eye: "Round is a shape too honey". Knee Pain Questions for the Doc

Did anyone reading this try the internet rehab for chondromalacia patella ? "The primary goal for treatment and rehabilitation of chondromalacia patella is to create a straighter pathway for the patella to follow during quadriceps contraction. Initial pain management involves avoiding motions which irritate the kneecap. Icing and anti-inflammatory medications (for examples, ibuprofen [Advil/Motrin] or naproxen [Aleve]) can also be helpful. Selective strengthening of the inner portion of the quadriceps muscle will help normalize the tracking of the patella. Cardiovascular conditioning can be maintained by stationary bicycling (low resistance but high rpms), pool running, or swimming (flutter kick). Reviewing any changes in training prior to chondromalacia patella pain, as well as examining running shoes for proper biomechanical fit are critical to avoid repeating the painful cycle. Generally, full squat exercises with weights are avoided. Occasionally, bracing with patellar centering devices are required. Stretching and strengthening the quadriceps and hamstring muscle groups is critical for an effective and lasting rehabilitation of chondromalacia patella. "Quad sets" are the foundation of such a program. Quad sets are done by contraction the thigh muscles while the legs are straight and holding the contraction for a count of 10. Sets of 10 contractions are done between 15-20 times per day." -

Well, I can say I'm amazed...but realistically despite being way old, over the hill and decrepit I totally understand as last weekend I hung out on this side of the hill and got rained on 2 days in a row. Went exploring Saturday since it was so wet, the Granite on this side of the crest near PDX was so damn wet you couldn't even see it from the road. Bet the granite over there was dry. I think I did that route you are calling "Free Ride to Heaven (4 pitches, 5.6)", in 1976 with a handful of wired nuts and hexes with the late Ken Cronk and Richard Canelaria. I mostly remember it cause there was a huge mass of glacial ice 7/8 of the way up blocking the route and we didn't have crap for tools, nor did I think having the ice break clean off and falling on us was a good idea as the day was way warm. I basically got the quiet peer pressure thing that got me going up it. But the ice hung like the sword of Damocles the entire way, threatening our lives if it collapsed off. There was an easy traverse off into the trees (5.6?) where the ice blocked all passage as it turned out. Then later these guys, mostly Ken I guess, all teased me publicly (in a friendly way) for being such a pussy...so I got some feedback from some other bros about this climb throughout the year which made it more memorable than about everything else we were climbing on all the time. We thought we were the first there till my brother explained that about everything up that way had already been climbed years before. Bad memory but I think maybe Dave Jensen (Jensens ridge) or Mead Hargis (Yos ranger) did this one, like a lot of the cliffs over there. Some good stuff over that way, but you have to hunt for it or hike to it. The Matterhorn for instance, the longest, biggest baddest assed rock climb in Oregon, has gone how many years without a 2nd ascent? 36 years....Dave Jensen was a Mensch for sure. A badassed Super Ubermensch. Found and climbed some bits of sweet sweet Elkhorn granite last year here and there. My Manboob pose. -

I actually think that more accurately I'm just an asshole, which give's me blanket coverage. LOL! Yup. If a racist means that you married outside your race, then I am guilty. It was actually her parents who first clued me in on this as it turns out she was marrying outside of her race as well - but that's another story.... I wonder if Acorn is hiring now? Oh, looked it up and they are! http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9AKORB81&show_article=1 "BALTIMORE (AP) - The group ACORN has fired two employees who were seen on hidden-camera video giving tax advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman who pretended to be a prostitute. Fox News Channel broadcast excerpts from the video Thursday. On the video, a man and woman visiting ACORN's Baltimore office asked about buying a house and how to account on tax forms for the woman's income. An ACORN employee advised the woman to list her occupation as "performance artist." The pair also claimed they planned to employ teenage girls from central America as prostitutes, and an ACORN employee suggested that up to three of the girls could be claimed as dependents, according to transcripts of the video posted online by conservative activist James O'Keefe. O'Keefe told Fox he posed as the pimp and that he was shocked by the ACORN employees' helpfulness. In a statement, ACORN Maryland board member Margaret Williams said the video was an attempt to smear ACORN, and that undercover teams attempted similar setups in at least three other ACORN offices. Williams said no tax returns were filed and no assistance was provided. ACORN—which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now—advocates for poor people. It conducted a massive voter registration effort last year and became a target of conservatives when some employees were accused of submitting false registration forms with names such as "Mickey Mouse." ACORN has said only a handful of employees submitted false registration forms and did so in a bid to boost their pay. "
