Not sure what areas you mean by "Whistler", but as far as I know, everything north of Squamish is closed.

Another trick is the shake-n-heat. You can get ones that are supposed to fit in your boot, but I can't imagine they would go in any boot that would give you any performance... I tuck them down next to the insde of my calf, just at the top of the boot (sort of at the 4 o'clock position on the left leg, and the 8 o'clock on the right), nice and comfy, and it warms the blood heading down to your toes keeping them toasty. Used my regular Nepal tops like that in the Rockies early winter.

Stephan- Drop in to Rope's End climbing gym and ask around, good motivated crowd there, and some of the older ones actually do some ice and alpine shit too. Most of the young ones are sprot monkeys, strong ones at that.

Claimed.

Aug 31, a couple of climbers just turned you lost shoes in @ Valhalla Pure in Squamish, BC. You were a couple of women from Portland OR. PM me and ID to claim, or drop in to the store...

Try a Google search , and calm down already. As far as I know, it is the wire used for transmitting movement of the stick to the control surfaces.

Well good for them, they finally caught up with the rest of us.

no, it's the one that is happy. 'Dirty Pretty Things' is the sad one.

That image just made it onto my desktop, a pretty coveted spot aeround here, as usually I prefer basic black.

From what I heard, there was some opportunistic smash-and-grabs in Kelowna too, so those should cancel out any way.

or just replace the fucking links you fucking dink. it aint like its brain surgery. Why don't you go do it yourself, asshole. There are only several hundred routes there. If you start now you'll have them all done by the time you die of old age. Chains are put there for lowering and rappeling. I'm afraid I have to agree with lummox on this one. If you notice that there is signifigant wear, then take it upon your self to go fix it up. Who do you think is gonna do it if you don't? :confused. See if there is a local bolt fund that can help with the cost of the materials. I've done a lot of this stuff myself, and it always peeves me to hear a climber complaining that the chains are worn, or that there is hanger missing, and that "Some one should do something about it."

And it is also more widespread, including many provicial parks and the Smoke Bluffs in Squamish. This thread is a good summary.
-
Actually the "good" weather is going to ruin a lot of people's trips this weekend... Smoke Bluffs and just about ALL of the BC backcountry is now closed.
-
I can confirm this, we just came home, and there are Trail Closure signs being posted on all access points to the Bluffs. Doesn't seem to be stopping people though.

whatever looks good from the bottom basically. some cams usually, a few nuts, lots of slings, and maybe some water pro if need be. pins from time to time.

Yup, had some of those the other night Blue all the way through, not just the skin. I once went to a blue moon potluck, where all the food was blue. We brought blue corn chips with blueberry salsa. A lot of people just used food colouring.

Hey kitten- You should go do those better things then, no? BTW, you asked a question, lokking for input, therefore I think I have a right to comment on it... Don't ask if you don't want an answer, you know all that jazz. And like I said, it wasn't a comment directed at you or your situatuion, neither of which I know or care anything about. Oh, and it is a question of trust for me. 24/7 there is trust, I wouldn't want it any other way. to you too.

Use your judgement... It is nice to preserve the chains. but they are gonna get some wear even from pulling a rap line, although not as much fer sure. In some areas there are glue-ins which can be threaded, but are hell to replace. Then it is kinda de rigeur to rap whenever possible. Another consideration is if the anchor is less than bomber, you can put less stress on it by rapping than having someone lower you. Of course if it is really sketch, you can leave a biner on a bolt below the anchor for a back up while being lowered... A nice aside here is a trick that I like: Lead, then thread the chains. If you are gonna TR, hang the rope through a draw such that it is weighting the draw instead of the chain. TR all day if you want to, then last person up pulls the draw and lowers off. Nice thing here is any one can clean the anchor safely, even if they have little experience, because it is already threaded.

So is there nothing to the rumour that S'bucks owns SBC???
-
How 'bout 9 years, that long enough for you??? No kids though. I would say , if anything, there is more trust now than there was, say, 7 years ago.

He's a cool boss too! He took us all out to see the Cirque de Soleil a little while back, on his tab! Of course now that he hangs around here, I can't post as much during work hours...
