Like fern says, we can hook you up with lots of partners in the 'loops. Plenty of people I know there go often to Marble Canyon. And just think... you will be 4 hours closer to Canmore too!

You can have my beers too. I have a course this w/e, and besides it's a long drive from here. Have fun gapers.

I have a Sony Clie PEG T415. I love it. Get the smallest one you can afford. Otherwise you will hate carrying it around. The ability to synch to my computer, then cut and paste notes that I made during the day into emails and such is probably the #1 benefit to me. Check this out. The Pocket PC platform seems better if you want to watch movies, play tunes etc... However if you want it just as an organizer, then the Palm platform has some advantages. Longer battery life, more freeware(?), and lower prices. Be aware that youy can also get your GPS to talk to the PDA if you are a

Obviously the >Save as< option is the quickest, but irfanview will convert almost any file format to any other. Not to mention all kinds of other handy features. And yes, it will play MP3's too.

Never said bounce did I??? I'm wondering if I mis-spoke - it's been a while since I was out on aiders. Still, I'm sure that I like my adjustable fifi out to full reach length.

Yeah, maybe I had it backwards... You can do as Lambone suggests, then flip the whole pile onto your partners tie in, if you are leading all the pitches, or in blocks. This works pretty good. I usually pile on the tie in. Sometimes I stack on my foot, although this might not be good advice for ice climbers . If you have a ledge to stand on, I flake the rope down. If I am leading off again, I grab the whole pile and flip it. Works pretty good.

Place piece, hook fifi in, test with bodyweight... Depends on you style really.

And add a little bit, cause you can always reach further than you think when you are desperate!

The guides I know (quite a few) find that guiding clients and teaching classes is so different from being out there having fun, that at the end of the week they are raring to go climbing for themselves. No problem burning out there. If you want to make a good living at it, it seems that you have to approach it as a business. You wanna be a guiding company, not a guide, if you want to live better than cheque to cheque. It's hard on the body too. You might not be out there pulling down on 5.11 every day (although it can happen), but there are other overuse injuries that are common amongst the guides I know. Say goodbye to you elbows if you do much multi pitch work. Pulling two ropes all day seems to kill them pretty quick. Check out the ACMG website too (www.acmg.ca). They have also a certification program similar to the AMGA. Most full mountain guides say that is similar too getting a university degree in terms of time and money. Good Luck.

You's gotta raise the body to get bigger tires in there, that is the only way to get more clearance. I'm betting those tires are bigger than average, they just look small under the excursion. The real way to get clearance is to use portal axles like a hummer or unimog. 18" under the lowest point of my truck! That looks like a pimp rig anyway. Who the hell wants chrome springs???

Wrong. It is a double wall tent, and the fly seperates if you want it to. You just don't seperate it in normal use. From the Marmot website. Bold mine.

What movie was this vehicle used in? Oh, wait, it's not out yet. It will be in the Disney movie "The Miracle."

I've only played with it in the store. It sets up real easy. You can pitch just the outer and leave the inner tent behind for an ultralight bivi style shelter. It seemed plab to me, but I've only played with it in the store.

No Unimog for you then Sold a Volvo at 350k (kilometres about 240K miles) on the clock. It hadn't had a working odometer in a long time though.

Repair advice on a BD Express screw?
snoboy replied to michaeljosephnozel's topic in Climber's Board
This really sounds like a warranty issue to me... -
Revived so catbirdseat can learn the true meaning of plab. And so all the newbs like me can enjoy it.

Like me , otherwise, what she said. Funny, allison and I were talking about this whole thing in the chat room a couple of days ago.

How about the sound of a REALLY BIG ROCKFALL when you are in the tent and can't see a thing?

Another vote for MEC, unless you need the haulbag strength duffle, the MEC ones are well made and cheap. duffles

I'll bite (sorry j_b)! Should we compare those numbers to the numbers of Americans who believe that Saddam was actually involved in 9/11? Or should we compare them to the number who beleive that WMDs have been found in Iraq???
