  1. yeah, the vandals may not be a good football team but the greatest seahawk ever was played for them. Sam Merriman went to the probowl and still holds the seahawk record for most fumbles returned for a touchdown i believe.
  2. Becky was a hardman. Hasn't he put up some 5.10 routes or did he aid those? I think the ultimate hardman challenge has to be something in the pickets. If your going to use modern gear then it has to be in winter. If your going to use army surplus gear and wear wool, you can be hard like becky and do it in summer.
  3. I was wondering if you could french in the koflach verticals. I have woren the artic expis once and i couldn't french in them. If you can't french in a boot i would think it would probably rule it out of the volcano and moderate alpine ice stuff, unless you have calves of steel. Right? Caveman those la sportivas your friend uses for everything are they the trango extremes?
  4. Never done it so i can't tell you to much about conditions but i hear the easton on baker makes a good winter slog, you can ski down too.
  5. I agree with his thoughts that paying 60,000$ to be guided up everest is kind of lame. I image he feels much the same way i do when people who don't climb tell me they have climbed rainer. Then I ask if they were guided and of course they went up the dc with rmi. I know eveyone has there own sense of adventure but of the 5 people i have talk to that have done this none could tell me anything about crevasse rescue and only 2 new what i meant by self arrest. So is it really climbing, to be guide up rainer? I know everest is different but i image thats how he feels. Oh, and i willing be going to Kearneys side show on Thursday instead.
  6. Metal Hexes sound cool I doubt there lying about strength, however, i to would question durability of the peices.
  7. I got a sleeping bag from costco for 30$ it was been used in winter. you can get forged friends for cheap from mec. I got a mountain hardware etherenal shell for 115 from www.seirratradingpost.com I don't own a stove because if i really need it i bet my partner has one or i can borrow one. marmot mountain works has good deals from time to time. Bolt clipper got a brand new pair of rages for 300. I got a pair of Garmot k2 GTX for 200 from there discount section. I know Rei sucks but i got a pair of atlas snowshoes for 40$ from a scratch and dent sale. I also got trekking poles for 30$ from www.rei-outlet.com My favorite pack lowe alpine huate route was also bought on clearance from rei for 60. For maps find a friend who has topozone or one of those programs and a nice printer. It is mostly about being patencient and getting by with what you have though, take it from a poor college student.

    Balance of power

quote: Dru: valleys you refer to are ones where the only access was through canada and we weren't about to let americans come through canada to log american wood Interesting point, I will have to compare that to a map next time I'm up high that way.

    Balance of power

Dru if this Gordon's plan goes through does it mean that US will have to log right up to the Canadian/American border like the canucks did. Cause I for one would like to keep some trees on our side of the border.
  10. I was at big four ice cabes two weeks ago. There was plenty of good bouldering outside the actual caves, mostly just traverssing. Don't both heading up to the moat if your just starting like me instead go to west side of the caves thats where the best traversses were.

Greg W next time DAF is in seattle come find me and you will get a beer. I could have free health care from my parents but I use the health care from my work, instead. I don't have to pay for this except for deductables and stuff but it isn't free because i work for it.

I can't believe your pondering this. Go to the Nuits. I would jump on a chance to go there, but helicoptors are expensive and i'm poor.

    Tweak Scratch

I think making fun of the whole cougar incident can be funny. I also think it is sort of a were not laughing at him were laughing with him, he probably fells pretty dump about that. Other times when people make fun of him is not cool. Scott does have a decent site but so does Chuck and i don't see Chuck asking for money. (only beer and thats cool) There is a guide to climbing at the UW rock. can i buy it somewhere. Is it published online? (maybe i'll donate money to that site)

  17. I know Trask can fight his own battles, but necro why are you looking at articles about sps in the first place. Well unless you have an issue yourself.
  18. or maybe the landing gear was down while testing so the good guys could keep it on radar. I guess will never know.
  19. quote: Orignally posted by SEF Observation Rock, it would seem, is ice climbing's answer to the Tooth Does that put Big 4 Ice Caves in the same boat as exit 38.
  20. From a time and money standpoint taking up climbing would have to be the stupidest thing I have ever done, but it's to late now. The week and one of my friends got his license we decide to go hiking. It happen to be in the middle of April. Are goal was Melewka lakes i believe or somewhere off 90. Anyways we ended up getting lost, traveling up snow that was steep and hard requiring at least ice axe we used sticks. Then "glissading" by sliding down the steep hard snow luckly it was soft at the bottom. I'm not of legal drinking age so I'll keep you posted as to if I do anything stupid in the future.
