Such a shame that faith no more was a one-hit wonder. they ruled!

They've played all those songs at Mariner games. Another reason why the Mariners suck. Anybody notice how not-shitty traffic was yesterday evening. 3 words: NO MARINERS GAME. I find it hilarious when people complain about traffic yet also supported keeping the mariners in town.

I was wonderful if I was the only person that found the metolious nuts a pain in the ass to clean sometimes. I find them manage to get themselves stuck rather easily.

Well, of course Matt, isn't that what this place is all about?

The unfortunate thing is that is what the dividend is supposed to be for...returning profits to the co-op members. Unfortunately it instead goes to opening yet another store in bumble-fuck, nowhere.

I have to nominate "sugar ray" as the ultimate multi-one-hit wonder. They seem to have multiple one-hit wonders and still nobody takes them seriously (myself included...they suck) yet they churn out a new bubble gum hit every so often.

I'd definitely wear trail shoes for something with that much of an approach. hell, I take trail shoes for glacier peak, where I can where them for the first 5 miles to the hot springs then cache them. on something that is easy snow I may even just wear them up the glacier and deal with the lack of support and possibly wet feet.

Oh shut the hell up you wanker! You’re analysis is as fucked up as undoubtedly you are. Without a doubt you are an Everett Mountie member who has registered to defend your poor, blameless, innocent, hardmen dip shit members. Kiss my ass tool. Well said. Whatever, if they had been competent they would have allowed for the fact that weather could change for the worse and they'd have to get down in shitty visibility.

8 liters!? Holy shit, that's a huge amount of water. I can't imagine forcing that much down me in a day. Also, anybody else notice how absolutely terrible Evian tastes? I will drink any water from a bottle cause I think they are all about the same with the exception of evian, it tastes horrible.

I'm curious what money do you guys think should be used to provide parking lots, roads, etc. that allow us to access these public lands. Taxes? User fees? etc?

Spouting off on here is one thing, if you really want to change something, take action! Head up to Squamish and offer free sex and blow jobs to all the climbers and put that damn brothel out of work!

In my opinion, spring corn is so easy to ski that if you are a good skier, you should have no problems on an AT setup. I find skiing on my tourlites + ML4s (basically a plastic climbing boot) in spring corn is still quite easy, albeit not as easy as a full on alpine setup. I think you'll be fine, esp. on the south side of adams. I would agree on just hauling your skis on your back however. you won't gain much by skinning up with the way the snowpack is now. -josh

two questions... 1.)Anybody done a traverse of maude, 7FJ and Fernow? If so, I'm curious what type of climbing you encountered, the route you used, etc. etc. 2.)Anybody climbed the entiat ice fall? If so, what type of climbing are we talking about here. All I can find is it described as "50 degree snow and ice." If you climbed it, would you have felt comfortable soloing it? What about objective dangers?

Don't soil my bullshit TR thread with your "please ropegun for me and I might let you touch my ass" bullshit climbing TR. Start your own bullshit, no-leading, "cock-tease young guys into leading for me" TR.

"Extinguishing the flame, you can not blow out the flame unless the pot is on top then a strong breath will do it. Or use a tuna can dropped upside down on to the stove" Hmm...sounds like a *great* stove for alpine use.

Yes, the story was unsensationalized which is great to see. I do find the 30 below thing pretty easy for them to check and get right however, and I suppose to some extent claiming "30 below" tempertures is a method of sensationalization (word?) too. I just found it pretty amusing considering how cold 30 below actually is.
-
"Severe and sudden whiteout conditions — including estimated 60 mph winds and 30-below-zero temperatures" 30 below? BWHAHA....riiiiight. Maybe wind chill. GOtta love the top notch fact checking in the reporting.

Great for sweating out that extra water weight!

Gotta 2nd this one. I've got a pair of montrail something-er-other gore tex tennis shoes which I bought for approach shoes. I eventually found myself using them for more and more shit, including glacier slogs. Sneakers?!? Yeah, they rule. The hike great on trails and work fine for easy snow when combined with a mini-gatier. they also climb easy 3rd and 4th rock just fine. Granted, I wouldn't go on a 5 day trip with them, but for lots of stuff they work fine. I got my best looks when I climbed sahale last year in them. it had snowed the night before (didn't look like much from the parking lot), but by the time we got to the glacier I was walking through 4 or 5" of freshies in tennis shoes. The folks going up with plastics, ropes, pickets, huge packs, etc. were pretty confused.

Jeez, sounds like a couple of strategically placed wands by the 'schrund could have saved a lot of hassle on everybody's part.

Nice pics, Martin. Very cool line.

You can't see Stuart from prusik? Huh, I thought I remember seeing it. I've been up to the enchantments a lot so I guess it all blurs together. What's in the way?

The weather forecast for this weekend wasn't questionable, it was just plain shitty. No reading between the lines was nescessary to determine that a big ass snowy volcano was *not* the place to be. I'm not one to wait for perfect weather, but given a forecast so poor with a high level of confidence, you have to realize what you are in for and change plans. I mean, c'mon, 5k snow level, winds and rain in June...that should tell you the last place you want to be is rainer. The forecast also specifically stated the worst weather events were going to be on Saturday and Monday. I'm willing to say leaving Schurman and heading up on Saturday despite this is stupid. They should have gone earlier (sounds like one group did...and summited) or waited a day. Also, given the fact that they knew they were walking into worsening weather, they should have been prepared to descend in whiteout conditions by wanding the route, etc. Many people have pointed this out before, but I think when people make plans to "do rainer" (or whatever else) months in advance they will force a climb despite good reasons not to.

MK1 XL...that's what I got. Many thumbs up.

Again, I think we need to return to the fact that these people are apparently idiots. I'm sure the thought of *not* being able to be bailed out of their self-created situation never even occured to them.
