  1. Hey, Wayne. As Ursa noted, I was asking in another thread. Check out your PMs. -josh
  2. it's not at all. lots of people, myself included, think mines and old ordnance need to be dealt with immediately and properly. Wether it's "collectivism" depends on the way you go about it. MtnGoat, given your past arugments, you should be stating that the mines don't really affect you, so you shouldn't share the cost of removing them. Shouldn't the people near the mine fields that care about that give money to have the mines removed?
  3. What do you like more, sitting in traffic or getting money? I would sell it.
  4. I wonder if they'll chase out climbers as part of a "rid the town of homeless people" push for the olympics?
  5. I didn't realize you'd defend your treasured Ayn Rand with such vigor. Relax, relax. Go fire off some guns or yell at some migrant workers for taking advantage of your hard earned tax dollars. It'll make you feel better about your spot on top of the food chain.
  6. Good job, stupid. Did someone think that up for you? Way to contribute. Are you a product of some southern state educational system or are your parents cousins? Wow, quicker than I expected. Where is Erik's trolling picture when I need it. I figured even a gun-toting redneck like yourself could pick up on the sarcasm given found in "There is my well thought out and proven thesis for today." GUess not.
  7. Ayn Rand is a worthless bitch. There is my well thought out and proven thesis for today. Thanks.
  8. My X-girlfriend was a gymnast who, when a bit younger, was on the road towards the olympics. She withdrew from high level gymnastics when she finally got tired of being yelled at and beat by her eastern european coach.
  9. If you are going both up and down the sitkum, take your tennis shoes all the way to boulder basin. It was pretty much snow free the entire way there a month ago, so it certainly is now. You'll be glad for the tennis shoes. If you are going up by another route (which I would *highly* recommend; the sitkum is very boring to ascend), then I would cache your shoes at kennedy hot springs or the trail junction near there.
  10. Hell no. I plan on staying as far away from that clusterfuck as possible. Crossing the border and driving to whistler is bad enough without having to compete with thousands of others doing the same thing!
  11. It still boggles my mind that any city would acutally *want* the olympics. While the politicians gloat, I think the poor residents of vancouver get screwed. My guess is far more money gets spent improving infastructure than gets brought into the economy from 2 months of games being held there. That doesn't even touch the hell the poor locals have to deal with while the games are taking place. Also, on a different note...why not just hold the games entirely in whistler? isn't that what happened in Squaw Valley, CA in the 50s? Vancouver is about as much of a winter sport city as seattle. Instead of calling them the vancouver olympics and holding shit up at whistler, etc. it would seem to make more sense to just hold them in whistler. I dunno, I don't understand the politics of any of this.
  12. No whistler that year... At least we'll get a better road to Whistler.
  13. looks like they paid the IOC the most. Gayness. No fun in whistler or vancouver for us for a few months in 2k10.
  14. I got some August freshies last year on Sahale. Schloppy!
  15. Relax man, Erik always yells, it's nothing personal. He has a nervous tick which causes him to hit the caps lock key a lot.
  16. fremont glacier? another route?
  17. Hey Gearhead (is this Brian?), do you guys have the Trango S in stock in a 43.5? I think I have to take mine back to REI for a manufacturing defect and if I'm returning them anyway, I'd rather buy the new ones from yuo guys.
  18. MtnGoat...when one person tells you that you are making no sense and argue ridiculous points maybe you are right, and it is that person that doesn't understand you. However, when EVERY FUCKING PERSON ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD is telling you that, you may want to start looking in the mirror. Your arguements are moronic and your reasoning comes from the mind of somebody who has either taken way too many drugs, been brainwashed, or just wasn't dealt a good set of genes. Do us all a favor and just talk to some of your other personalities.
  19. Stefan, just curious, but did you see many people along the trail from the highway to the turnoff to whatever the name of that other trail is? More importantly, if somebody I knew wanted to ride a bike on that long stretch of trail, do you think they'd get harassed?
  20. Yeah, I think we've all learned our lesson about arguing with MtnGoat before. It's not even worth the effort. He's a confused simpleton.
  21. Greg, it's easy to preach your self reliance and personal responsibility crap when you were handed everything one needs to succeed in life for free with birth, huh? I'll state again that not everybody was born in this country and automatically granted so many opportunities as you and I were. Don't give me this crap about how you got yourself where you are today. Bullshit. Your success is built upon the backs of millions that came before you and you happen to be able to take advnatage of it because of where you were born. As others have pointed out, you can drink cheap coffee and eat cheap fruit thanks to the undesirables you scoff and turn up your nose at. Wake up. They aren't looking for a free handout, they are looking to improve their lives any way they can and help their families out. That is the definition of the personal responsibility crap you throw around. Next time you see a migrant worker, or any other foreigner working for minimum wage to make your life easier, why don't you have the balls to tell them to their face you want them out of "your" country because they don't deserve to work their asses off for the opportunities you got for free. That would at least show more integretity than hiding your thinly valied racism/anti-foregin sentiments behind an internet message board.
  22. Watch out in the area. CHeck out this thread: http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB2&Number=204479&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 Between torment become active, the bridge repairs and the raptors, you could be setting yourself up for one hellavu epic.
  23. Yeah, everything else in the North Cascades is closed for bridge repairs and raptor nesting.
