Scott Harpell --You carry a gun when you go trout fishing in the backcountry because you think a cougar is going to attack you if you carry fish on the trail? I'm sorry pal, but you are truly a moron. How many times do you think you can do this your lifetime and not let luck catch up to you? I hvae done this near 15 times this month. I also do it for a living... I think my exposure level is a little bit more involved than some climber at smith rocks toting luna bars. Ask Fred Beckey or any long time cascade climber how often they carry guns into the wilderness. And I beg to differ. While I might get pretty hurt in the process I think an ice tool would kill anything off but a bear, and the chance of a black bear attacking you are pretty slim. Do you honestly worry about some animal attacking you in the woods? That's pretty sad if so.

LOL...no, I'm just dumb, I swear. I was actually fucking stunned with what I got on English. I always thought I was better at Math. Dad has a masters in mathmatics and momma's got an english degree. Guess I got her genes or something.

Motherass...I keep forgetting that the SATs are out of 800 each not 700 each (so, yes, I failed the math ). Actually they used to be out of 1400 and I was reading something about this in a time magazine from a few months back and got that number stuck in my head. So, I meant 770. So you suck it crack! Oh good god, this is getting truly nerdy. In my defense I dated two cheerleaders and the prom princess. and DAMN...8 hundo on the math is fucking impressive. From all those practice SATs it seems there is always some damn trick one that fucked me.

I took that definition out of the dictionary. Go look it up yourself if you are so inclined. I'm out of HS, and I scored 670 (99 percentile) on the verbal SATs when I took them, so I hardly put any stock in your critique of my command of the English language. Thanks, I was pleasently surprised with the results as well.

I am NOT Canadian... nor do I attend a junior college... nor have I ever. Sorry, "sharpest marble" is not the expression...you could try: brightest bulb in the bunch sharpest tack in the box etc. etc. you still have to match the adjective with the noun dipshit. So, in other words, NOLse is right, "sharpest marble in the bag" is pretty dumb. those are called cliches... mine was a modified coloquialism. Do you mean colloquialism? Like I said, at least match the adjuctive and the noun correctly. It would make a little more sense.

His foreign policy address the other day was quite intersting. He basically said that we need to stop worrying so much about spreading democracy everywhere we can and doing what we can within reason and looking out for number one first. He made some statement (paraphrasing here) to the effect of "we would like to do all these great things, but we have to realize the reality which is we can only do so much at one time" Sounds about 100x better than bush's plan already. I'm certainly willing to give him a shot. I'm 100% he can't do any worse, and frankly, I think he has the possiblity of doing quite well.

namesake \Name"sake`\, n. [For name's sake; i. e., one named for the sake of another's name.] One that has the same name as another; especially, one called after , or named out of regard to, another. It's a correct use of namesake. It's just more convienent than saying "the guy with the same name as you"

I would argue the plan for executing this war was flawed from the beginning. I guess you are right, we shouldn't blame Bush because it's pretty obvious he doesn't actually develop his own strategy. So I guess whoever fed this to him (rumsfled+cheney+rice, etc.) is to blame. Maybe if this shit gets even worse we'll see bush stand up to admit "don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger!" Oh, and Teddy, I think you'd know I was referring to Theodore Roosevelt, creator of modern american foreign policy groundwork and a steadfast progressive.

That people on this board actually know me to exist. God knows if you are "theodore" or not. You should read a little about your namesake; one of our better presidents. He'd probably tell you that you are an idiot too.

It takes a big man to post insults behind an avatar. Says the child posting behind an avatar.... HUH? My name is Josh, it seems little like an avatar. You can ask any number of the people on this board that I've climbed with.

Generally there are some raised nice slabes on the far side of the lake that melt out, but I would be guessing to say I knew what time of the year they generally melt. You might get lucky in this low snow year...

What completely bilwilders me is how you war supporters can support how the execution of this war has gone. Fine, let's say both of these wars are totally nescessary. Are you really going to argue that this clusterfuck of a situation our completely inept president and his chronies have gotten into couldn't have been executed just a little bit better??

That's actually a little trick I've used a few times lately...when it's so slushy that you know it'll slide easily, go ski cut a side swath...wide enough that it gives you a nice enough piece of slope to make turns. Wait and watch the slush slowly plow to the bottom and voila...not so heavy snow!

Where you been hikin' boy?? I think a nicely planted ice tool would do a real number on somebody.

The two bags I use both lack a very water resistant shell. I have never had a problem except for once, and that was my fault...bivying with a non-closeable bivy in a snowstorm was just stupid. Unless you plan on bivying in crappy conditions a lot I personally dont think the heavier shell is worth the weight or money on a lightweight bag. If you can't prevent spilling stuff on yourself inside the tent then...well...learn

There is something called sil-net which is specifically for silnylon. You'll want to use that, not regular seam grip. There is some sort of tri-fold seam that is suppose to be the way to go for equipment, but I still sealed all my seems anyway. With the amount of rain a pissed off cascades storm can dump I figured I wouldn't want to find out the seams leak in the middle of the deluge.

That sounds pretty cool. What types of lizards? Do you keep them as pets or just check them out?

OK, you know you need to get out...after 10 days of shit weather, we are going to have three days of good weather starting tomorrow then followed by yet more shitty weather. I'm planning on doing a long ski traverse...lotsa milage, lotsa elevation. I've got ideas I'm pretty pumped on, but willing to take other suggestions.

I 2nd east ridge direct. Very fun climbing. Just be prepared to spend longer than you would think for 400vf of climbing. With all the gendarmes you climb more than you would think. Go down the west ridge if you want to do a mountain tour, otherwise the east ridge ledges decent is not as bad as everybody says, just be careful! A slip would certainly suck. I'd watch out for it with snow, however. I imagine it would be sketchorama.

Hopefully I'll have one on friday night or saturday. FINALLY! three days of decent weather. It's turning to crap again after that so I am not missing out on this.
-
LOL. sounds like fun. Was it the kind of hail that dented cars and shit? I've seen that on various "real video" shows on TV but never witnessed it. Aside from the damage, I always thought it would be cool to witness from a safe distance.

He didn't fire the warning shot at the guy... once again, you have failed to read the article josh... Scott, I wasn't referring to the article, I was directly responding to your post, ya idiot.
