    Semantics!

    It's all just Semantics!
  2. That's a pretty vicious looking fish.
  3. Jeff Lowe has instructional videos on Alpine Ice and Waterfall Ice. Watching the guy swing a tool is very illuminating.
  4. How about these boots (Lowa Stuktura GTX)? They are about my size.
  5. How fat is phat for a fat boy (200 lbs)?
  6. It's either AT or ice climbing ... .
  7. What's the best AT gear for a beginner? Never downhill skiied before.
  8. According to a post on Bivouac.com, the climber named it Chinamans Peak.
  9. My favorite: 33. Lower-back tattooes. Lately, it seems that if there's no faux-Celtic design between your low-rise jeans and your baby tee, something's missing. Recently, we've been seeing girls with their names in thug font in that place. Must save a lot of awkwardness.
  10. It's too bad some people feel the need to chuck summit registers.
  11. "Unfortunately, some route names were better left abbrevaited due to their possibly offensive nature. The complete route names can be found in the first ascent information for those of you who are interested. Abbreviated names are denoted with the symbol 8< after the shortened route name. For example: Tammy Fay's D8<." Too bad Tammy Fay (the climb) is gone. Why was Chinamans Peak in Canada renamed Ha Ling Peak?
  12. Wild Country Zeros 4-6 DMM 3/4 - 4
  13. Until climbers fall off, then they call the government to DO SOMETHING.
  14. The ellipsis should also have spaces preceding and following. Are you are some kind of teacher?
  15. Who will be the first to mount one on the back of his truck?
  16. In another thread, avatars are railing against Beck for chatting with political types. The only way to maintain the climbing corner of public space is to keep an open channel for dialog with such folks. Erik constantly bitching about the trail park program whenever rangers post on this site isn't the answer.
  17. What is the Icicle considered, then? My party climbed several routes in the Icicle this past weekend that were an absolute tragedy, with closely spaced bolts protecting what would be very reasonalbe trad or mixed routes. Case in point, the 5.8 route at Stone's Throw. The 5.9 would go on gear too, or at least mixed after the first two bolts. (Crackbolter's post seemed to have disappeared.) Why should there be any bolted, protectable cracks?
  18. Yup, I certainly haven't been exposed to your perspective! You need to be more outspoken, Dwayner. Too many people have that attitude, apparently including your buddy Dope, uh, Pope. With what?.....dude. The adults are trying to have a discussion here. You two please run outside and play.
  19. I'm waiting to buy a matching white schoeller jacket to go over a black polypro shirt and complete the ice cream suit look. Staying alive, staying alive Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh, Staying alive, staying alive
  20. Ohhh, gosh. I took the term "the new Fred" to mean that the guy is a dork. Think shorts over polypro.
  21. True. The GoLite is rated only for up to 30 lbs. And by the looks, it probably wouldn't reliably carry twice that comfortably. But if your load is only 30 lbs, why carry it in a 4-6 lb pack? The difference is about 10% of the weight on your back, or 1-2 days more food.
