the ubergeeks have the hp 48g

If I was a prof these days I would line the room with tinfoil to keep the kiddies from cheating
-
the ti-85 was great because you could program it to do exam questions for you. unfortunately the knowledge involved with programming it was more intensive than the exam questions you were trying to solve.

hmm still not as lazy as all these kids with two-cycle motorscooters buzzing around these days. I give 'em another month before a city ordinance is in place

The ever-increasing desire to do things "in a day" as a show of "coolness". Tacking on "car-to-car" in every discussion of a climb. One begins to wonder about the motivations of some people to be out there.

when the wall came down the options for tagging were significantly reduced

Greg, that makes sense to me. It might not reduce the force by much though. I still don't like the sliding x. Using a cordolette, I think it is somewhat unlikely that a single piece will be loaded in such a manner at a belay anchor, unless the person who set it up completely blew it when determining the focal point of any forces involved. It won't be perfectly equalized, but such is life.

I bet Bush's split times up the D.C. on raindawg are laughable.

Exactly. I sometimes wonder how much those kids like running gates endlessly all summer up at Timberline. I'd be so sick of skiing. The time off makes November really exciting and fun. Enjoy the sun and summer weather, there's only so much of it left this year!

if I remember the bolts on the top of spiderman at smith are kindof like what he's talking about. too close to the edge to sit comfortably with feet over the edge

Stefan - Edelweiss makes their nice stratos ropes with a similar weave (changes near the ends, but not quite like you are suggesting). ketch - thanks.

Hate to see such an experienced guy die that way. That makes me re-evaluate what I'm doing here. It's a strange feeling to have someone gone like that, someone you sort of knew through this place, someone I've "talked" to about things, but obviously didn't know as a person. But by what he wrote here, you could tell there was a good spirit behind those words, a person who will be terribly missed by those who really knew him. Maybe they could write a bit about him to share. I think he was one of the first on this board too.

Even if Kerry was accidently shooting his own troops over in Vietnam I consider it more dignified than the service records of those in the Bush camp who were getting on his case about Kerry's service. It is nice to see that perhaps this is being set aside now, now that both sides realize there is not much to be gained out of it. The 1000 figure is pretty staggering. I wonder when it will match the WTC casualty figures. Time to send in the forces or get them out. Just do something!

er, no but I can do this:

maybe this time with an inflatable castle and waffle on a stick!

I'm sure someone was there at some point.

I remember that UIAA study coming out and all the uproar surrounding it. I remember there being some issues with the study but don't remember the outcome. I still don't see how the pen can do any damage to the kern of the rope. I have a bi-weave rope. The worst thing about the tape is when it starts sliding down the rope, so you have a fake middle mark. Best thing to do in my opinion is know how many "flakes" it takes to flake your rope. Then you can easily tell when you are halfway. That's where the "yard" unit of measure comes from if I'm not mistaken. It also makes it easy to divide up the rope for glaciers, etc.

Well if you do, I'll be there. It is a rip. I had to budget for that one!

Note that rocks come off of Moscow even when people are considerate. I wear a helmet if I'm hanging out in that area and people are above. The route to the left is Peking. The first pitch is the money pitch.

I'm there at least one night a week. Any particular day? I've started going a few times a week usually 9-11pm. Not even checked off to lead there (usually just boulder or tr), but willing to if that's what you want to do.

at least they did not cut them while they were in use. and how did they get down? just loop the rope around the rock?
