the sar mission for a mt bachelor employee last year really woke me up to the dangers of tree wells. seems to happen more often than you think (close calls, that is, not necessarily fatality).

and stress the fact that it is not necessarily the amount of money that's the issue, it's the precendent it sets and incompetence of its application.

the best option is to get a wireless card and move into an apartment near one of those swanky businesses in NW portland who have the t3's and poor wireless security cruise around there and find a coffee shop across the street. spray at high speed for free.

The edging definitely sucks. I have had to be really careful setting track for someone following w/ split board to make sure I don't sidehill them too much. In rolling terrain, esp with trees, it can be very difficult to get around with those waterskis on your feet. I've never seen someone more frustrated than a splitboarder around treeline. Of course once in the open bowls, they tear it up. Gets frustrating waiting for the assembly/disassembly process though.
