Once a friend of mine stumbled out on to the cascade lakes highway after an epic in the three sisters. He and his bud dragged themselves over to a still-snow-covered Sparks (maybe Devils?) Lake entrance where there was an bridge paved with asphalt. For some reason they had some hot dogs and started cooking them right there on the bridge. Unfortunately they set the asphalt on the bridge on fire. I'm not sure if they repaved by now but there was a noticable depression where they had their barbeque. This was decades ago so it is probably gone now.
Same goes for Jack...
There's only one other winter line on Jack that appeals to me, that east face up to the crawl. The rest are just terrifying death routes put up by insane lunatics.
unfortunately I have an appointment at Steelhead Falls near Terrebonne on Sunday am, but I might be running into the Sisters via Pole Creek for the day on Sat and see what happens. I will feel the plabness emanating from the lake basin to the south.
