  1. Oh pish MtnGoat, your position is like saying if you oppose exploitive child labor don't wear sneakers.
  2. Yup, what mattp said. Though in the funny small world we live in, I bet I'm only two degrees of separation away from him, since my wife goes to Art School in Portland with a guy who I think might be a house mate with this guy. I don't think violent revolution is a viable path to change in this country. It didn't work for the Black Panthers, and I sure wouldn't want this country to resemble Algeria, either in the time period he references or the current era.
  3. Vin Diesel?
  4. Annie Green Springs on Burgundy? And whatever happened to Bobby, I've missed him around here.
  5. Okay, here's the psuedo-official press release. Yesterday Cpt. Caveman again threatened to smash faces in over differences in a political thread. He also sent personal messages that were more specific. The last time this came up I edited out the threats and made it really clear that personal threats are not allowed. I responded in yesterday's thread to Caveman, to the effect of "that's two strikes, third strike you're out" and I sent him a pm to make sure he saw that response and to reiterate that threats will not be tolerated. He retaliated today with flooding the forums, which is bad etiquette, but also included both death and beating threats. Its really simple, that's three and he's out. It's not some personal agenda, and a preponderance of the moderators are behind this. Play by the rules or go away. For spray, the basic rules are really plain and not very confining: No threats. No rascist jive. No pedophilia. No porn. Call me names, I don't care, but threat and intimidation have an adverse effect on the social life of this board, both online and real world, and its not acceptable from anyone.
  6. Here here FS Trask is not just the lewd humorist we've come to expect. for you too Trask. I may not agree, but thanks for putting out some real thought and opinion. Oh, the joke was good too.
  7. Fuck off Veg, and no, that's not an invitation. It's been under discussion elsewhere, and what I'm doing is not some flash in the pan heat of the moment response, but rather a measured reply that is happening on a variety of levels you are not aware of. Moderators don't babysit every moment around here, and if you'd like to see otherwise you can put your money where your smarmy mouth is and start sending me a monthly check. Perhaps you'd like to make a few personal threats, then you could scream about oppression (elsewhere) because you weren't given the same consideration.
  8. The last time you made physical threats in Spray I edited them out. That's strike one. This is strike two. This shit is not acceptable to me, other moderators, or the adminstrators of this site. Third strike and you're banned. That goes for personal messages to anyone on this board as well. This is not a platform for you to play playground bully.
  9. Do you mean the simple response to pain, or the pain earned by struggle with the uncooperative beastly sizes? Truth be told, it there wasn't an almost endless vein of jokes to mine the name would not persist.
  10. Now I'm totally lost Peter. What do gross photos of dead ethnic Albanians in Kosovo have to do with CIA action/non-action with regards to Saddam Hussein? I don't know about the original rise to power of Saddam Hussein, but it is totally undeniable that he was supported, supplied, and encouraged by the US prior to Gulf War I. We even gave him an implicit green light on invading Kuwait. As April Glaspie said in a meeting with Saddam Hussein on April 25th, 1990 (8 days before the Kuwait invasion) "We have no opinion on your Arab-Arab conflicts, such as your dispute with Kuwait. Secretary (of State James) Baker has directed me to emphasize the instruction, first given to Iraq in the 1960's that the Kuwait issue is not associated with America." Please refute if you can Peter, or admit that we've had our hand up that puppet's butt in the past.
  11. Dave, if she wasn't given the willies before, I'm sure your little search will push her over the edge. stalkersRus.com
  12. No dude, I'm applauding your foresight in positioning yourself well for developing markets.
  13. No Iain, that's smart ass horsecock, and Trask has been working hard to corner the market for the last year.
  14. I can only hope you're spinning the shit my friend.

    happy easter

Easter about Jesus? That's a good one This is a quote from an interview with Neil Gaiman:
  16. If 12 years of containment was ineffective, why hasn't the Iraqi military been more capable? Their total strength is nowhere near what it was in Gulf I, and the policy you disparage is directly responsible for the relative cakewalk we've experienced so far.
  17. Under this reasoning, the North Koreans, with whom we only have a ceasefire agreement, not a peace treaty, are fully in their rights to nuke the US because we certainly pose a threat to them. Or vice versa I suppose, we should absolutely invade immediatedly. My country becomes Travis Bickle, what a revolting thought. (for those who don't know, Travis was the DeNiro character in Taxi Driver). Your assertion that Iraq posed a threat to the US is bogus. If you honestly believe that, its a point of disagreement we cannot move beyond. Now that things are winding down, I think its interesting that you trumpet about freedom for the Iraqi people, rather than this great threat that we have averted through pre-emptive war. Please re-read my earlier post regarding reasons for this war, which you did not respond to in any meaningful way. This war is about advancing the neoconservative's ambitions for US world empire, and ALL that other crap is just so much advertising campaign. Pleasant side benefits and your pythonesque "no it isn't" assertions do not justify this illegal action.

  19. Yeah, I thought that was an interesting turn of events. I know there have been a number of times in old threads I've found where people went back months and months later to delete or edit their posts. Historical revision strikes me as a little odd, don't say it if you don't mean it, and if you want to retract, just come out and say it. That said, it doesn't really matter to me, I've just been over in spray and I've got soapboxes strapped to my feet.

Sobo, I'm not certain of my facts, but didn't we install the Shah after Iran elected a government we didn't like? You're right though that its difficult to dictate a political system to someone unless there is a strong internal component behind it. We're not done with interesting times, and I'm not ready to make any predictions. Hope for the best, but expect the worst, that way you're hardly ever disappointed and sometimes pleasantly surprised.
  21. Then why are you entitled to take credit for unintended benefits? Like saying "hey, I just wanted to shoot the dirty hippy, but isn't it great that he can't beat his wife now?" If you take an illegal action, an unintended happy outcome does not justify the action.
  22. Umm, that would be you? Go back, edit your post so that mememe... is not all one word, so it doesn't stretch the frame all out like you wearing your ex-wife's overalls.
  23. MtnGoat, it was only a little while ago you were beating the "threat" drum. Now its liberation. You used to believe in the power of the market, but now you're in favor of force as the foundation of foreign policy. Your principles keep shifting to suit your needs, just like the ends you use to justify your means keep shifting to whatever you think plays well to the world.
  24. Iain, we live in a po-mo world, the truth doesn't really matter. Liberation is mythology that makes us US citizens feel good about ourselves as a country, so expect it to be widely swallowed whole.
