Yeah, why don't you make like a bakery truck and leave.

If you're not a one day ascent speed demon obsessive, I highly recommend the bivy on the ridge about a pitch and a half up. Spacious and scenic.

You know, I'm not even going to think about how you have sex with a chicken. Nope, not gonna do it, you can't make me.

Having spent a lot of time in St. Johns (North Portland) lately, I've been impressed by the three burrito joints. Things get a quarter cheaper with each step further from downtown St. Johns. The $3.00 carne asada burrito from Super Burrito Express (next door to the carneceria, across from the public health building) is pretty good. Not quite on par with some of the stuff I grew up with in San Diego, I think it's due to the lack of access to that stringy lean brush fed beef out of northern Baja, it does hit the spot. Portland seems to be liberally sprinkled with equivalent emporiums too, a greater concentration than Seattle.

Here's a link to the Scientologist's bit on Barbara. Religiousfreedomwatch.org is a Scientologist site. I think I've understated Barb's antipathy to the "church." It's worth noting here that among her transgressions they list a number of chatroom and bbs comments she's made online. Scientologist Enemies List

I know someone who is on the Scientologist's enemies list. They're vindictive bastards. Among other things, they went through her neighborhood distributing flyers identifying here as a convicted child molester, and have tried gathering information from all sorts of friends and relatives. Of course, she did testify in a trial against the "church." The things at the core of their belief are as bizarre as can be, so their dismissal of psychiatry carries as much weight as Ramtha's mandate to buy land above a certain elevation because there will be a terrible flood when the lizard people emerge from Mt. Rainier. Of course, now I've done it. Coming soon to my neighborhood, my picture on a bunch of fliers.

Troll, troll, go away come again another day google results for JOEBIALEK

Yeah, and did you know that the word "gullible" is not in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary?

Keeping the thread in this forum means the administration at this bulletin board expects a greater degree of civility around the discussion than if this was in Spray. Some folks are expressing anxiety around representation and information availability, and I think this thread provides a place to express those concerns in a considered manner, so we can move on to figuring out what we're going to do about all this. Does ANYONE here want to see Darrington shut down?

I think Mr. Noggin hit it on the head, it's about people not bolts, and the nature of this route is irrelevant. Pope, I think you have more to lose here than you might realize.

I don't think there has ever been a bridge at the Queets trailhead.

Rain rain rain, no climbing tonight.

What a difference one little vowel can make. This is an example of "pectoral work"

You mean giving the "Young Mother Of The Year" award to someone who is 37?
-
I did get stopped in the nearby tiny town of Rainier for doing 26 in a 25 once, but local status got me off with a warning. If I had been from Redmond I'm sure I'd have been ticketed. Scott, do you come to a full and complete stop at every stop sign when you're riding your bike?
-
Did you come in on Hwy 41 from Fresno? That's the one that winds along a boring hillside until you go through the Wawona Tunnel and right on the other side it's like running smackdab into the middle of an Ansel Adams photo, zero to sixty instantaneously.

So Ken, do you drive a Jeep? Me, I'd do the pull over, wait for the dust to settle, then head on myself. Hopefully, when I'm the fast one, someone else would return the favor.

uhm... that is not a comedy. nor is koyanisquatsi or nayquoiquatsi. I think Chirp was responding to Layton's offering of Happiness as a comedy. If you found that film funny, you might try Affliction.

I think it's Dierkes Lake, and there's also lots of BOULDERING. Had a fun day there after getting snowed out of City of Rocks, they were setting up for some archery competion, so you'd go around a corner and run into some towering bear or fleeing deer target. Added that surreal touch. It's quite a bit further from Mtn Home if you're looking for after work fun though.

Hey FW, stop picking on John just because of his location. Jeez, if you wanna play "locals only" go take up surfing. He was alluding (not very clearly I don't think) to some establishment of precendent that serves real estate development? I don't see how repairing damaged roads in National Forests does that. I'm not surprised that local real estate interests there want the road opened back up, but that's more due to recreational opportunities as a sales tool, and I don't think their interests in this case are at all in conflict with climbers. If there is a precedent to set, it's that damaged roads don't get repaired, and that doesn't serve my interests at all. Where does that trend lead? Yeah, the Mountain Loop highway is expensive to repair, let it go, and the Cascade River road gets damaged a lot, Highway 20 takes a lot of hits, maybe it should be returned to a natural state... Bad enough that we're losing a chunk of the Middle Fork Snoqualamie road. I think maintaining public access to wilderness is the best way to ensure it's survival, because that's how you can turn the uninformed into proponents.

After Hours was good, and King of Comedy (another Scorsese offering) is great. Other suggestions: Blood and Concrete Six String Samurai

That would be an excellent service! Yeah, those anchors are rats nests built by the "I'll just add another sling" mindset. Josh, I'm pretty sure the route hasn't been skied yet if that's what you have in mind.
