  1. I dunno Mike, I know the most recent brown Beckey (which I don't have) lists a route or two in that area, NE Towers, some other stuff, but I don't know about that corner. There is a lot of potential on that shoulder of the peak to be sure, and the rock I've been on there has been pretty good.
  2. That's close Paul, but no matter how I tilt my head I can't get it to pan a little further right. Great shot though.
  3. Rain, pfah. From this picture representing the last several weekends, you'll notice that my weekend didn't much resemble climbing at all.
  4. Welcome back. Ummm, who were you again?

That guy in red, where is his right hand?
  6. Those are some great shots, but not quite the section I'm looking for. I'm interested in the area of the various NE Buttress routes, sort of between Dragonfly and NE Couloir. Essentially, this shot, but not all fuzzy and poor contrast.
  7. Does anyone have a decent digital image of the NE Face of Dragontail? That's the side, usually shaded, that faces the Asgard Pass route. I need one for a project I'm working on, and all I have is a so-so print from a disposable camera.
  8. Keeping my wife in line? That is not in my job description.
  9. Yeah, me and Johnny go way back, he used to bugger my roommate in college. I'd just recently moved Doug's thread of a similar nature, and I felt I had to uphold my - = Spray precedent. Feel free to prove me wrong by going all scholarly on the topic, but I thought we'd be more likely to get a Fido sighting if this was in Spray.
  10. So last week we had 4 climbers and the beer was Milwaukee's Best. This week we had 6 climbers and the beer was Henry's. Do I detect a trend? I guess this means with 8 we'll get Pyramid, but I think we'll have to have at least 20 to qualify for a pony keg of Terminal Gravity.

You get the Catbirdseat award for the day, Dru.
  12. Why is it folks can't discuss a speed record without mentioning Dan -? I'll wager he counts that as success, but it also gets this thread (along with Doug's earlier thread on the same topic) shunted to Spray.
  13. I think Hummingbird Ridge is in 50 Crowded because Allen Steck was on the first ascent, same reason guidebook author's routes sometimes get more stars than they deserve. It's not that they're out for shameless self promotion, its just that their personal emotional attachment can make the route more notable or enjoyable than someone else might find it. The crowd photo of Fuji reminded me of Popo in Mexico. You could (back when it wasn't erupting) be slogging along the dog route at 15,000' and have little kids in sandals trying to sell you gum. Locals would do the route in soccer cleats instead of crampons, and I saw one guy with home made crampons welded up out of rebar. Yeah, they had a lot of accidents there too.

I think Dean himself said it would be a bad idea to put him as VP, simply for the fact that the ticket does not need two people from the NE. I'd say look for someone from the south (edwards?) or the west, but then again they haven't exactly put me in charge of that committee.
  15. Gerber-Sink N. Face route on Dragontail.
  16. Scumbag Digest, the 1977 update to Mission Gorge in San Diego. Back cover photo:
  17. No no, Olympia is the obvious choice.
  18. So, that's six real people, three of whom are still posting, four if we count you. See my earlier post, you weren't banned for being conservative, you were banned for being an asshole. Bitch about it a little more, I'm sure it will help.
  19. I think people mostly get banned for being assholes, for their manner of delivery not the content of their ideas. Draw your own conclusions.
  20. On the otherhand, Lowell will come forth with beta on things he's done when asked about it, and other people hold forth on routes "of interest" they've done in years past when folks ask. MattP didn't hesitate when asked about Yoccum Ridge this winter, despite it having been maybe 8 years since he'd done it. The high activity rate of the posters here is one of the assets of the site, but so is the depth of experience represented. The NNB is in a special category of hard routes (for the Cascades) that hasn't seen much traffic, and folks are curious. Much as everyone wants to know what the protection and descent are like on Nooksack Tower, folks would like to hear some about the NNB, and (though I could well be wrong) I think you're the only source here.

    GAS WAR

Yes, but don't forget that 7.9% of $2.35 per gallon is more than 7.9% of $1.68. Same effect in my business, if the clients select more expensive bathroom fixtures, I make more money too. Profit is a good thing, and business offers plenty of risk too.
  22. Is that address correct? I tried it and it bounced.
  23. Wednesday coming around again, so I thought I'd bump this up. Last week was fun, with four of us out until headlamp time. Looks to be a couple more this week. Here's an old TR butt shot of The Manly Wham (mebbe some new/better pics after this week)
  24. really guys, admit here on page six, don't you really wish you'd let me hijack this phrase into griping about pad people lingo instead of whacking each other like a punch and judy show?
  25. Do people really sell their old out-of-print guidebooks?
