    Why?

Who said that forgiving or sacrificing does not involve thinking? They are decisions that would take a lot of thought and determination. They are two acts that don't come easy in our society. It is a "ME" or "I" world and the 'greater good' is often forgotten - such as the "WE" of marriage and family. I personally find it very sad and disappointing Nobody said that. I was addressing two points to the "Dumb Fucking Asshole" and maybe they looked like they were related. There is no "greater good" because someone is always left out in the cold. "Society" begins with the individual.

    'Bout Right

Ah, yes, a subject of the crown; you guys sure do love your nanny state government, don't ya? Go back to Scotland and suck of the entitlement tit there.

Your privilege to decide the most basic of all rights: how to defend yourself and those you love? Privileges can be taken away, your right to protect and defend yourself (a foundational point in the Natural Law theory that influenced the Founding Fathers) cannot be taken away. naw way man...some f-ing convicted drug dealer or serial rapist still has those rights?? Get outta here and put that crack pipe down! We have a system of laws, dude. Convicted criminals lose certain rights as a consequence of their criminal behavior. How do you lose a right? you lose a PRIVILEGE... In this civilized society, our laws have dictated that there be a loss of rights (freedom: prison) as part of the punishment for breaking laws. So now you're saying that freedom is a privelege?

You're offbase and miss the whole point, so, whatever. We'll disagree.

Many Constitutional scholars are changing their minds on that; even liberal ones. 2nd Amendment guarantees the INDIVIDUAL's right to bear arms, being consistent with the wording of the First Amendment in addressing the INDIVIDUAL

You are incorrect. Read supporting documentation of the time: Jefferson, Adams, Hamilton, Federalist Papers, etc.

It is an extension of your right to "Life" and "Liberty" in that only YOU have the ability to decide how best to guarantee and protect those rights. Notice, also, that it says "...among these rights..." This implies that there are others, legions of them, that the founders chose not to list and, therefore, left it open to the broad range of rights that we all truly do have. I know it's against your nature to take a stand or be passionate about anything, Erik, so fuck off. It's nice that you live in a country where you can roll your eyes at the rights that have been guaranteed you by forward thinking individuals 230 years ago.

Then why was that right explicitly spelled out in the Bill of Rights (which it arguably wasn't . . . well regulated militia. . etc. etc. etc.) while the rights to "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness were not? Seem to me the drafters were pretty specific. No where does it say the right to bare arms is endowed by the creator. The GUARANTEE of our right to keep and bear arms is specifically spelled out in the Bill of Rights (as with all 10) because the Founders were worried about the trampling of these specific rights and wanted clear language about there protection. Also, items in the Bill of Rights were things that they had seen trampled by the Crown and were particularly sensitive to.

    Why?

DFA; You are right, that is not why you forgive; but inherent in the act something is gained. Have you ever seen those bumper stickers, "Let Go and Let God"? Sounds like a relinquishment of self-determination and responsibility to me.
  15. I thought that was where you were living for the past 30 years.
  16. That took some sleuthing, I'm sure. Way to go Sherlock.

    Are you a pirate?

I hear JGowans is a butt pirate.
  18. Out of respect for my partner's opinions, this will be a gun-free trip. I'm bringing the big maglight, though. and obviously a crowbar or two??? But of course.
  19. This is such bullshit and pisses me off. This is the RCMP covering their ass by selling a bullshit story. Why would 3 climbers act aggressively towards 30+ obviously riled up people? A gun? Come on. Even if one of those guys owned a gun, I find it hard to beleive that they would run the serious risk of sneaking it into Canada. Please; this totally smacks of coverup. Moral: Never, ever trust the police to look out for you or protect you. Case law, in the U.S., supports the fact that this IS NOT their job.

  22. THATS WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING!!!! IT ALSO GAVE SOLACE TO NEW LEADERS SKETCHED ON FINGER CRACKS. Hey, jumping into the deep end is the best way to learn to swim. I never had a prob pulling my rope when I rapped down on the right side of that tree.

And, how does that make you feel, Trask? Mhm, hmmmm; very good...yes...does that bother you? Mhmmm...hmmmm. Really. And how would you respond to that?....Yes, it's okay to cry.... I'm sorry kids. I'm way outta line. Seeing as how I'm not a touchy-feely kind a guy, I am insensitive to these types of feelings. I'll go sit in the corner for awhile and reflect on the errors of my ways. Carry on. Euphemism for 'play with myself'
  24. CAREFUL GREG, I HEARD THAT OLD GUY CAN GET VIOLENT WHEN CONFRONTED. YOU KNOW OUT IN THE BACKWOODS ANYTHING GOES. AND THOSE BOLTS MIGHT BE HOLDING THE CHOSS TOGETHER! I think as long as I keep him in beers and tequila he'll stay mellow. Bolts are in solid, pristine granite.
