THis was a very commonplace occurrence that Reinhold Messner talks about on many of his solo climbs. He held a running conversation with a young girl for two days, I think, on Nanga Parbat when he did it solo after his brother died.
I realized yesterday that regardless of what is going on, I can still dial into the zone. Then, nothing else matters.
I ran the gammut from James Brown to Johnny Cash to Confederate Army marching songs.
Have you ever been so in the zone on a lead that the gear is almost superfluous? I had this experience yesterday, and apparently I hum quite a bit. Hm.
Sitting on a horse with 500 acres of sagebrush flats and rolling hills in front of you, chewing on a toothpick and wearing shitkickers. Could someone please pay me to do this?
That's what I hope to avoid! I currently reside in Texas, may move to Georgia , but there is a chance to end up in Bellingham with a new job.
I'm soaking up the guidebook and info gleaned from cascade...com., and prepared to do whatever it takes to get high on the Chief. Would love not to incur the expense of a rental by making it worthwhile for a partner to provide the ride, but beggars can't be choosers. Ed? Anyone?
When? PM me.
No need. You wanna come test the limits of reality? I spoke with Jim Morrison yesterday as I rapped off of Princely AMbitions in the pitch black; he told me not to fear the edge, man.
SO YOU COMING UP NEXT WEEK FOR THE ALPINE EXTRAVAGANZA OR WHAT????
What alpine extravaganza? And, more importantly, specifically when is DFA coming to SEattle? Trask and I need to plan.
Uh, that's Ms.
Knowing how well you and Ms. Ballard get along...i was shocked you didn't say Mr. Ballard!! You're gettin' soft!
hahaha. Good one. I was going along the lines of "Mizz" ultra feminist bitch. ya know? Oh, well; too late now.
wait a minute! who's using greg_w's avatar?
Hey, I never said I didn't have a soft side for new life. Granted, I did shoot a calf elk last year, but it was her or meatless. I like puppies, I just wish they were birddogs (German Shorthairs, please).
I don't live in fear, I wouldn't know. I'm not chubby. Uh...can't think of anything other than a bug or two; tempted to shoot a threatening looking/acting/sounding dog yesterday. I did get an elk tag for this fall, so I'll be in Oregon for Thanksgiving; hopefully eating fresh tenderloins!!!
I did assist in the birthing of four beautiful dachsund puppies a week or two ago; it's a beautiful thing!!! They're cute as buttons.
