my fav dog of the day was the morbidly obese pekenese i saw on the trail down - certainly it must have had a heartatttack at the summit and got left up there.

sweet - a goal for 2morrow if no one's there first! a couple weeks ago i found my partner unwilling to follow me up cruising - i found the route could be rapped w/ a single 60 m rope if i used the beat up shrub just above the crux as a directional - rapped down to the foot rest just right and below the crux - put in a piece in that huge flake so i could get off the rap rope so as to ensure there was enough to make it down - then finished off the rap by pulling on lower pieces to stay on course for the last piece. more fun than leading the route, really.

had this thing for years and after letting the battery stay dead for a few days the display is now in the metric system, which my thoroughly american mind can't begin to comprehend. i lost the instruction book a thousand years ago and can't seem to figure out how to get the units back to english. anyone know how?

i think there've only been 2 electors who ever voted in a manner other than that dictated by their elections - one was a simple mistake i think, the other was done out of jest - in niether case did it make a bit of difference. the parties that win the election afterall do get to choose the electors in the college, so there's little chance that system would ever go awry. again, as a history teacher type, i would not really describe the events of the late 18th century in america as a full-fledged social revolution. basically one group of rich white dudes telling another group of rich white dudes to fuck off and convincing a handful of proleteriats to duke it out - succesful mostly only because another group of despotic rich white fucks (the french) felt like helping out to spite the brits. the american south sent essentialy as many troops to fight for king george as against him - their economic interests afterall were more closely aligned w/ remaining under the crown.
