  1. "why?!? why i was made to feel pain?!?"
  2. this has nothing to do w/ climb'n, kevbone - nothing! wanted to know if anyone heard what went down w/ a kid i saw on saturday on mt. hood. the hapless young pup apparently decided he needed to climb hood by his 18th birthday to make a man of himself (and here my generation thought a sloppy blow-job in the bushes by some homeless waif of nebulous gender would do the trick!) reckon his dad said he couldn't go, so the kid lied to him and went for a solo outing anyhow. by 4 a.m. as i was leaving the t-line lot the Forces of Good had assembled and were mobilizing to collar the absconded youth - i wanna know what happened when they got him back down to the lot! i saw no blood when i returned, but then many hours had passed since i still ain't figuring out that whole skiing on ice thing yet. conditons on the s side are currently sporty - pearly gates are damn thin and demoralizing for those wielding a solitary axe and alum crampons - the mazama route is better, but very icy - tickled ye olde cockles to see two chaps take a spill and surf a good hundred feet or so down towards the fumorale - i thought i was the only dumbass who did that kinda crap!
  3. i've never really understood why people worry about this kinda crap - have you ever heard of a climbing accident where the rope blew (unless it was cut over an edge or had something obviously wrong w/ it)? if it's faded, if it's funky - then it's done. unless you're rich, in which case you actually give a crap about extending your earthly existence and can afford to buy a seperate rope for each day of the week (to match your high-tech rei-day-of-the-week underoos)
  4. i meant more to bitch at kevin then suggest i would do the extendo-tour of the columbia area
  5. dunno kevin - i'm going climbing tomorrow on hood and would like to know the state of 35...
  6. i'm 6'7", 230 lbs - i'm far from the best climber, but not the worst either marcus d's bigger than me and a bunch better too i hear so tall folks can climb just fine

    SOLO run Dec 31st.....?

when did thermogenesis become a "southern aspect?" enjoy - should be cool to have the mountain all to yourself as no doubt it'll be until the roads fixed
  8. dude!?! how can you can in good conscience kill a thread that threatens to put the Fawking Nodder in it's rightful gaddam place?!?
  9. actually - sound slike you can get up to cloud cap still by going hte back way
  10. weather was beautiful today - decent crowds in the pop spots - climbed zebra-zion for the first time - worth the drive

milf? milf! i think hurley's like 60 now - i could care less...
  13. guess that oughta wrap up fall attempts on hood north face, eh? damn - never really had a chance this year...
  14. “Evidently, something gave loose by the glacier up there and it just kind of all came down at once” said ODOT’s Bob Sork. now that sounds interesting...
  15. it ain't gonna rain! in pdx - escape the gloom
  16. my favorite aristocrats punchline: "wow - what a beautiful act! what do you call it?" "the cock-socking mother-fuckers."
  17. how'bout best moment? getting crazy crunked at colchuck after belittling meself on colchuck balanced despite having what felt like a strong early summer - no finer memory than feeling busted up and a bit 'barrased drinking canuck whiskey n' puffing on god knows what looking up backbone, which i'd done in so much better style a few weeks earlier a return to triump and a nice light chronic-themed travail stands out too spring north face solo w/ a well-planned mp3 playlist and a gallon of hot coffee in The Amazing Chrome Artillery-Shell luetholds solo in a howling winter gale - the only hood climb i can recall ever doing without once taking off the puff-jacket, balaclava, gloves or goggles, or even really ceasing moving for that matter, out of fear of becoming a permanent part of the landscape dragging old friends and old fathers along on a silly sunshine-cooper spur linkup in a 100-degree heat wave - wine slushies n' avocadoes in the shade many a fun solo out at beacon - dods (well, the first pitch anyway), Da Corner, YW Aethelwulf Claiborn Linthwaite spending the night screaming at mosquitoes, chain-smoking camels and barely making out the whiskey-drunken snores of layton 6 feet from a roaring waterfall amongst thickets of Hell-Fuck shrubs in the hinterland of extremely strange lutherans shan't be forgetten soon either
  18. funny - back in appalachia i wouldn't give this house a second look - afterall, looks no different then it does the other 364 normal days out of the year the prayer flags instead of stars n' bars totally ruins the illusion though
  19. well, if the road to a person's home was out, they would either be a) stuck in their home w/ nothing else to do but pray they're not next (and spray) or b) sit at a bar and be pissed (and spray)
  20. heretic!!! burn her!!!
  21. "I like the puppet on the left," "I think the puppet on the right is more to my liking," "Hey, wait! There's one guy holding up both puppets!" -Bill Hicks
  22. marcus covered the avy info as well as can be done in general - check out http://www.nwac.noaa.gov/ before you go for specifics
  23. WA crack - big second vote for beacon's freeforall-dods-dastardly combo-meal - best finished by belaying off the railing on a sunday afternoon while macking on every grandma huffing her way up the trail WA sport - last pitch of young warriors - even better if you don't clip any of the bolts - the moves are as good as sex yet require none of the awkward well-that-was-nice-maybe-i-oughta-call-you-again bullshit the morning after Or crack - all the gorge stuff - climbing tuff cracks makes my hands sad OR sport - there's sport climbing in oregon?
  24. the scarey thing about the warming debate is "what's the alternative?" as much of the world that has for long laid in the long shadow of the wealthy US and its greedy over-consumption begins to feel the same diabetes-induced joy, how can they be talked out of it even as we struggle to cut back? seems like a big train-wreck coming at us greek-fate-tragedy style...not an argument against trying to do SOMETHING of course, but how exactly is this thing going to turn out well? the human tendency to just drink one more beer and wish for the best is extreme....and i so hate heat. though i did hear it oughta make the russians happy - something about all those resources in siberia comign onto the market (except if that whole 'day after tomorrow' thing happens)
  25. what he said temp/wind wise - it's usually butt-cold in december near the summit (20 and below) and wind can rage over 40 for a long time - i climbed luethold's in artic conditions last winter w/ very high winds the whole day, but as said, it's nicer when it's calm and not so much crap is falling down aroudn you. hood rocks - enjoy.
