  1. Thanks!
  2. I think DL forgot his meds today. That, or Dan Larson sucks. [ 06-11-2002, 12:43 PM: Message edited by: glen ]
  3. Dan, if you're going to rip on Lambone, you need to do it right. Tell him to go play some solo dome hockey or something.
  4. Just because...
  5. Something tells me that you didn't learn that one from the mountaineers. I guess there is a real use for those little plastic biners afterall other than shameless activity identification by placement on keychains, backpacks, etc...

    Strange Correlation?

I pretty much made that one up as I stared out the window trying to find new ways to procrastinate and avoid working. I could easily imagine "I hope it's not contagious" being associated with Mounties Basic courses though. ha!
  7. Is Dan Larson Scot'teryx's alter ego?
  8. I hear the permits for that climb can be tough to get. It always difficult to bail when there is so much pressure from sponsors and you've worked so hard to get there. Good judgement will allow you to return once again to the 'G-zone' (aka Gumby zone) high on Ama Marymoore.

  10. There are restrictions on glass bottles out there. As long as you pour it in a cup and put the empty back in a cooler and keep it closed it's no biggie. There's enough broken glass on that beach to warrant the glass restrictions. Burn one... pallet that is...
  11. sure it does... ice is just frozen water. Good for 'chilled' wine too.
  12. I just enjoy what I do and still get time of to do the things I like. I don't hate my 50-60 hours a week I spend doing gotta do's (granted, it's grad school) and I spend my summers under the sun doing field work in alpine environments and taking time to go cimbing and hiking. Why have a job you hate? Why sell 40-50 % of your waking lfe doing something you hate? Life is too short. If that means quitting your job, being a bum and climbing, that is great. Be glad that you know what you want and are actually doing what it takes to make yourself happy. How many people do you see who are miserable in the lives they've created for themselves?
  13. don't forget the 12 essentials. Comes conveniently boxed with a picture of your favorite volcano on the front.
  14. Late night NPR ahs some good stuff. On AR, one of the speakers called NPR 'National Pentagon Radio'...
  15. Troll...
  16. Personal responsibility is inherently selfish. The fact of the matter is that Reality doesn't care what decision you make. It is what it is. If you choose to drive too fast on mountain roads, you are responsibile whether you choose to be or not. Reality is incapable of caring. The ability to take risks is not for me to judge for someone else or for someone else to take for me. This whole thread seems a bit of a symptom and indicator of what makes us such litigous society. If you presume to impose your judgement on another, are you also willing to take responsibility if something happens to them?
  17. In a way, I'm kinda surprised that the Pres supports the Forest Service subsidy of logging, after all, he doesn't like it when people start cutting on Bushes. "Back off!" Ouch!

  19. Who... Me?
  20. The mounties climb schedule is scarier than the weather forcast this season. Jeez. Still, a fun day with some good folks on the summit.
  21. You might be a Gaper if... ... you post a trip TR for the Tooth. I think most people could figure it out on the following formula: 1. Ascent through kicked steps up to P. Pass. 2. Lots of Mountaineers. 3. Passed Mountaineers at belays. 4. Nice view from top. 5. Waded through Mountaineers on the way down. 6. Hiked out. Those were some pretty fun glissades on the way out though, eh Doug?
  22. I think that might be in the trailer: "Wet and writing, they struggle to the top of the epic wall... only to be caught at a moment of inattention (script reads, in the sack), by the evil terrorists. In a moment of American nationalistic heroism, they escape after pushing the guard to his doom (script reads a disembolwment with an ice axe and a big fall of guard off spontaneous 130,000,000 foot cliff)." Guard played by a Keanu Reeves? Acting ability might be appropriate...
