    Idiocracy

    Let's consider this: Oh, yeah.

    Idiocracy

Gosh, sounds like the whiners from when Bush was reelected. They're still around. I don't think you'll make the same mistake. Don't let the door hit you in the ass.
  6. So basically you're suggesting that this be dumped on future generations to pay back. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23241606 A future crisis in the making is retirement. Social Security will continue to shrink. With the change from Defined Benefit programs (pensions) to Defined Contribution programs (401k), individuals will have less money, as it turns out that they are poor investors, have bad choices (high expenses), or simply opt out of the programs and save little or nothing at all. In a few years, poor retirees will be clamoring for the govt to *do something*.

    Ethical Question?

What it suggests is that Simon has a life and doesn't spend all day every day reading cc.com to get all of the backstory on every character.

    Exxon Valdez.

And you who still pump Exxon gas into your Tacomas and 4Runners are paying for it.
  9. Not quite what you asked, but if you want lots of good top roping options, go to the Ice Park in Ouray, CO. Ouray is a cool mountain town.

    Driving Pickets

That's something to think about. Even with a hammer, how would you drive in a picket into hard snow while in the arrest position?
  11. The interest rate on a credit card is only important if you carry a balance. And carrying a balance on a credit card is pretty stupid.
  12. What Black Diamond sells for a double is the old Cliff Cabana, which is much bigger than the original A5 Alpine Double. Conrad was selling a bunch of portaldge stock on eBay over the past year, and the only Alpine double fly was the TegralTex Expedition Fly. BTW, if anyone has an old A5 or A5/North Face double, I'd be interested.
  13. Don't let Joe scare you. They're not that bad. Common sense goes a long way.
  14. I think that was Bill. And only one voter.
  15. Our country need you to vote as you mention. Only you can save America. Unless you're a jaded fucknut posting on an internet BB, that is.

ALPINE CLIMBING: TECHNIQUES TO TAKE YOU HIGHER By Mark Houston and Kathy Cosley has some good info.
  18. As Muffy mentioned, climbing in the gym is typically steep face climbing while moderate alpine climbing follows slabby crack systems. At VW-Magnolia, focus on the slabby wall (less than vertical) and routes in corners (dihedrals) where you can practice keeping the weight off your hands and arms. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of good places to practice moderate crack climbing in the gym. The other big difference is exposure. At VW, you're never further than 20 ft from the ground. In the mountains, it can be a bit further. That's just a confidence game. Have fun with it.
  19. I guess that explains why you're full of it.

  21. Sky Valley Rock shows p1 of Green DragOn to be 100 ft to the right of p1 of Davis Holland which you climbed. It's a much more interesing aid pitch, but the top out can be sketchy in wet weather.
  22. New article on Fred in Rock and Ice. Nothing earthshattering, but it's a good read anyway.
