Pro Mountain Sports used to rent tools and such and then apply your rental fees to the purchace of your own set. I am not sure if that is still the case, but it worked out well for me.

I was taught this from the get go. If anyone doubts this, take a look at the beiner you used after you've spent a day TR'ing it. If it was a colored anodized one, I guarantee you'll see some missing color where the rope was. The first time I saw this it was a bit sobering, thinking about how many people I've seen TR'ing on the chains. Keep in mind (before you spray) not just the nylon that wears on the metal, it's all the bits of dust and such that give it a sandpaper effect (look at the bottom of the bucket next time you wash your rope

strange as it sounds, I do carry a pocket mask and gloves in my pack (along with a bit of a first aid kit) I did so as a scuba instructor (oddly enough it's easier to give in water AR with a mask than without), and, well, I guess I've never really given thought to not carrying it.

ugh. I'm sorry to hear you had to be there. Speaking as someone who works with trauma patients on a regular basis, it can be very disturbing. I am very sorry to hear this news. All I can hope is that it was not one of our own. My heart goes out to his friends and family.

Funny that people assume I am doing this for my own female bonding issues. I have been a part of this site for a reasonable amount of time, and, well, if I wanted to hang out elsewhere, I would. Like Climbingirl33, so far the majority of my climbing partners have been male, and that has worked out fine. I posted the idea for feedback AFTER getting input from other women on the board... As I am a moderator on the site, I felt it would be nice to pass along such an idea. Lucky for the other gals they didn't post it, it would have been laughed at as a troll (as has been in the past), or they might have been drummed off the site by the negative comments. me on the other hand, yer kind of stuck with

Like I said, this was just a thought tossed around, so far other than snugtop, the only responses have been from guys... So, maybe not a good idea... never hurts to ask

Some of the women of cc.com and I were chatting this evening and came up with an interesting idea... How about a Women's forum? We've got a forum for everything else... How about it Jon and Timm@y? It would be nice for the women to have a place to ask other women climbing related questions (like what clothes to wear, etc..) without men always chiming in (if we want that we can post in spray The catch... (you knew there would be one) The boys can read, but not post... Heck, it should work out great, we know you like to watch -Laura
