Ulnar Tunnel Syndrome - $%!@^$&*!
icegirl replied to ClimbingGirl33's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
ulnar tunnel sydrome I thought was more related to the ellbow than the wrist (but I could very likely be wrong) I'll ask this weekend at work.. I assume your symptoms are the last three fingers numbness and tingling? Dr Doug Hanel at HMC is a good person to ask about this. PM me. -
That WAS his shirt... no wonder he couldnt hack it in the mounties... "Laura, where's my shirt" me: "uh, I dunno, it wasn't my day to watch it" Loren "well, I have this", Laura: "I have a spare prana top you can borrow" ... SO the question you need to ask is... "what is under that jacket?"

just your desire to climb Just so everyone knows, we pull the ropes around 8:-8:30, so even if you show up a bit late, I'm sure you can get some climbing in...

it'll never go away... we should do a series... Six stages of embarassed Loren... Read: "no, really, I'm not a part of this group.." One hand over face, two hands over face, hands pushing hat up, fists over eyes, fists pushing hat up, hands pulling hat down so as to not be recognizable, and looking for bag to put over head (or over the girls heads)

Okay, so there has been some talk about exposing the "Girls" to some more "traditional" climbing methods. The closest place to do this would be Exit 32, Repo I, British Aisles area. There are a few things to consider, so I figured I'd toss the idea out for input before making any solid plans. Up side; super easy cracks, learning how to climb a different "style", learning about gear and how to clean/follow a "trad" climb, experiencing another aspect of this wonderful sport we call "climbing" Down Side: Further hike in, meaning we need to get there a bit earlier and leave a bit earlier. Different type of climbing, not as "easy" as the first day at exit 38 (read: low angle slab with big jugs), so might scare off some potential newbies (but don't be scared, please come, we will find super fun easy stuff for you, I promise) All in all, I think it would be a great experience, and if we ask really nice, we might even get one or two of the women on this site who lead trad far better than myself to come give you a show and tell... (Minx, Chelle, ya out there? Fern?)

Sweet Baby Jesus! If that is what is talked about in a "Womens climbing forum" no fucking way! Tis an embarassment to the fairer sex. I realize I at one time supported the idea, but after reading that... Crikey, what happened to my nice thread about climbing! -

Hey, these girls climbed up a storm this week... Non-stop action, they were running laps on the 5.9! We had 3 ropes up at one time, and someone on every rope (ranging from 7's to 10c) -

I'm going to scope out exit 32 myself hopefully this afternoon and/or friday (partner dependand) to see how those routes go first hand. ? -

Ben. we are talking about girls who have never been outside and some that have only been to the gym once. Sorry if we are not up to a 5.9 crack route just yet. Rapelling? what make you think they know how to rap??????!??!?! you are very assumptive grasshopper. Go look at your "grades" again. The book I've got sitting here says "5.5-5.8 (easy) 5.9-5.10 (intermediate) 5.11--5.13 (advanced-expert) Oh, and here is another one: 5.0-5.5 Easy, 5.6-5.8 intermediate, 5.9-5.10 hard, 5.11-5.12 expert, 5.13-5.14 Elite. In my limited experience, this seems to be correct. I can talk the girls up a 5.5-5.8, and the strong ones can do an easy 5.9 (5.8 by any other yardstick) with rests. so why do I want to take them to godzilla again? Please, give it a rest. Let them have some fun on nice 5.5's and 5.6's before scaring them away from climbing altogether. Heck THIS kind of thinking could be part of the reason some women like the idea of an all girls climb at an easy location like Exit 38. Climbing is climbing. You don't want to climb with us anyway on our rhino-rock, so why do you keep tossing in your input? When they are ready to "make that leap" to granite cracks, I'm sure they will be looking your way for direction, NOT!
