  1. more cross-training! I did some superfun 4WDing up to alpine. Then a short hike into the most beautiful little meadowed lake I have seen in a while. Then climbed a fun long rock ridge to a summit with the best views I have ever had. Tricouni Pk. s Then hiked back down to the truck and realized I had the worst sunburn I have had since the time I was 11 and spent the day at the water-slides and afterwards my mom had to cut my t-shirt off with scissors because I couldn't move
  2. from here "Testing done by the AlliedSignal Corporation indicates salt water, acetone, benzene, chloroform, freon, gasoline, kerosene, motor oil, mineral oil, paints and pine oil do not appreciably affect nylon and should not damage your rope. Laboratory tests performed have shown no appreciable damage done to nylon fibers by contact with insect repellents containing DEET (Test #0559). "

    Define Dirtbag

article on Harleys in this months Smithsonian ... 40% of owners have annual income over $75,000 ... that's the level of dirtbaggin I could handle
  4. I thought as much excellent ... I look forward to the showcase showdown
  5. so why did MrE's poll disappear?
  6. technically illegal and could net you a fine. Bivying at the Pigeon-Howser col and beyond is fine though.
  7. when I was there a few years back they had toasters. the word from a ranger was that anybody could make use of the electrical appliances whether they paid to stay in the hut or not, this because the hydro-electric unit they run overproduces and the excess just goes to heat anyways. only paying guests are supposed to use the gas appliances. hard to police I would think, and a not an easily exploitable set-up for dirt-bagging if you can't camp at Boulder Camp.
  8. if anyone decides the rope-up is weak they can head down to 8-mile groupsite and hang with the 50 or so canadian college kids that'll be there ... like erik and e-rock did last year ... icicle canyon is gonna be crooooowwwwwddddedddd.
  9. do whatever you like. you're a grown up. I think asking for recommendations is wacky. you have a guide book don't you? like I say have fun
  10. dunno ... maybe if you have to ask you shouldn't be doing it? without being to wishywashy my experience had always been the climbs telling ME that it's ok for me to solo them, rather than the other way. the guidebook makes it pretty clear relatively how hard climbs are and how to approach and descent ... although it also contains misleading errors and inconsistencies. maybe this thread has a more subtle motive though anyways ... dunno have fun
  11. whatta loser yay Wayne ... enthusiasm is infectious. maybe you can scan some pics for those who con't get to the slidy show in Everett?
  12. which side are you going to jump off?
  13. is that in the Tchaikazan? ... big ice faces?
  14. Murray is not a cop, but a community minded business man who has contributed more than his fair share to the benefit of climbers in Squamish. Access issues in the Bluffs and the Malemute, Adopt-A-Crag day, safe-bolt fund, you name it and Murray has been generously involved. His opinion and input carries some weight in my view. to Murray
  15. some of those Taj-maWalmart tents I've seen like in Camp 4 are so big you could even park your tiny car inside!
  16. me too Slesse was fun. I had a good week, 4 summits, one new route and led my first .10c ... yay me ... thanks for climbing with me dru
  17. east ridge of mt.trudeau ... oops logan.
  18. he's alive but injured and will be spending the night up there. He jumped off the Prow. Pan Wall would have been a better choice.
  19. I think both of you talked to Stefan ... you headed down pretty much the same time I got to camp. there was about 9 people from the BCMC there to climb Matier. Most headed down Sunday morning. 3 stayed and climbed Joffre on Monday instead.
  20. I think Mills Winram is still alive ... one of Slesse's FAs
  21. popular baby names popularity of the name eric/k, place out of 1000 most popular names: 1950s = 71st, 1960s = 26th, 1970s = 13th, 1980s = 20th, 1990s = 26th.
  22. 3lb sledge, cold chisel and a funkness ... it's a quarry after all when you get all the bits out you should mail them back to the manufacturer and ask for a warranty repair
  23. I think we ran into you at the campsite on the ridge on your way down. An abnormally tall fellow and a short girl. Bad weather on Saturday night and Sunday morning sent almost all those partys packing without climbing anything on Sunday, too bad. We climbed some other stuff and never had to share a summit in 3 days. That's a fun area, and still in pretty good condition, lots of snow lingering.
  24. my truck runs fine. just the steering is a little ... shutupdrusubarusheepBAAAAAAA
