  1. Hey, I'm sorry about the bottom of the cage comments; those were out of bounds. I truly do hope you live a happy and peaceful life, with full spiritual satisfaction obtained from your daily yoga practice. Ommmmmmmmm.....
  2. I entirely disagree. Now get back to the correct thread, unless you quite accurately believe that many similarities can be noted in both Hitler and Bush, including a usurpation of Constitutional Rights afforded the citizenry of our beautiful country.
  3. Ah jeesus. What the hell does his age have to do with it? And, What's your excuse?
  4. My fellow construction workers love me, and I love them too.
  5. Your welcome, although this cordiality is really starting to discomfort me. So in order to relieve said discomfort, please allow me to call you "nincompoop" immediately. Thank you.
  6. North Korea. I believe ElBaradei(?) stated that a state's nuclear capabilities can be understood without that state's compliance. Iraq can be contained entirely without war, at a much much much much lesser cost. You didn't see them attacking anyone in the last 12 years, did you? Duhhhhhhh.
  7. "Effective", oh bright eyes. People should go see Blind Spot- Hitler's Secretary, while it's still playing at the Varsity.
  8. And furthermore: What's this thing about "support our troops". Can someone explain what the hell that means? Please? Our "troops" enlisted in the goddamn armed forces knowing full-well (maybe not?!?) that they might be called on by some goddamn administration (that doesn't give a flying fuck about them) to go out and kill people. You can look at every conflict we've had since WWII and realize that war is nothing but the instrument of terror for the elite. I tried hard to find a photo of our good troops sending a bomb down on Afghanis with the inscription "Hijack this, fags", but was unable to, since I believe the rights-owners of the photo (CNN?) probably wanted it out of circulation. Fags? Yes, the military fosters the type of mentality that I would want for my children, and my friends' children, and their children, etc. I have so much compassion for the individuals who will find themselves facing death in Iraq, both Iraqis AND Americans, but in no way will I "support" them in their quest to KILL KILL KILL.
  9. Unless an apostrophe is used. As in "This pussy's location is not making sense; Trask, where's your penis?" Or perhaps "Trask, pussy's not spelled "pussys" when pluralized; perhaps home-schooling wasn't a good idea if one's parents are orangutans?" Alright alright, my apologies for the sexist and speciesist humor; I've been doing construction lately (and the careerist humor!).
  10. Where do you work? Do you have a poll on how many Iraqis will die? A poll on how many Americans will die? A poll on when your family might die? Sounds like a great game you're playing, but I'm not in.
  11. Oh, and one more thing, JayB. You seem very concerned about human rights violations in Iraq. Do you think human rights are more protected in Saudi Arabia, our ally (public stonings, beheadings, detongueing(?), limb removals), or Qatar (same?), Yemen (repeat again?), all our allies? Would you agree there are more on this list? Seems pretty hypocritical on your part.... And the Hutu/Tutsi scene....Any idea the CIA were backing the Tutsis, through all reprisals? Oh, those nasty French!
  12. Every year there are reports of people dying from falling bullets? Why haven't I heard of this? It seems like something of this nature would be broadcast on the evening news. I can certainly understand a larger caliber bullet with enough velocity (my bazooka comment was silly) to kill.... But it seems important as to whether or not the bullet kept its "rifling"(?) properties intact during flight; if it starts to tumble, it would slow down significantly? But in the meantime, maybe we really should keep from firing our rifles straight up in the air, as a precaution, of course.
  13. I don't believe it, unless it was a bazooka they were firing.
  14. Does my identity become known if i admit to leading Red m&m's onsight last year on gear, with rp's falling out of the seam when test yanking? 12a? Ppphhhhh. Not very sick, if you ask me. Iron Horse is harder. Hell, Japanese Gardens at 11c/d is harder!
  15. I do believe that an understanding of physics, or simply a familiarity with case history, would lead one to conclude that the terminal velocity achieved by a bullet in free-fall would be less than the velocity necessary to create a dead humanoid. Or dead sentient non-humanoid. No not true-a mouse might die. Anything bigger than a breadbox would be ok? Maybe not a Portuguese Man-O-War, but I'm not sure. What is bigger than a breadbox, yet killable by a bullet reaching terminal velocity in free-fall?
  16. It is quite relative. Is it ENTIRELY relative? Hmmmm.....
  17. JayB, you seem to insist on the presence of overwhelming Iraqi civilian support(?) for an invasion, citing this as evidence of its moral justifiability. I'd like to see this overwhelming support, since the information I see tends to support the opposite. From what I gather, the Iraqis don't want the US anywhere near their soil (a sentiment shared by many Arabic peoples); they would rather have a return to what was once perhaps the most equitably prosperous economy in the middle east. After 12 years of US-led sanctions killing perhaps more than 1.5 million, do you really think they see us as a liberating friend? Not according to what I see! I think much of your info comes from Iraqis living in exile, but really, how representative can they be of those living in Iraq? I don't know myself, but I do have to question this. If the Cuban exiles in Florida were asked, I'm sure you'd find overwhelming support for an immediate invasion of our neighbor island. Hell, if you interviewed ten million americans, I'm sure you'd find a sizable number who would favor a military overthrow of our present government. I think the above examples are indicative of the problems faced when trying to decide foreign policy based on disgruntled humanoids. You then speak of the positives of regime change, as shown in the cases of Germany and Japan. I think we both know that an outcome even close to similar with these examples would not arise from the ashes of Iraq. The region has had enough western-led regime changes, and we can clearly see where that has led it. How can you even begin to think this time would be different? Because we now have an administration in place that has the will and commitment to follow through with the work that needs to be done to allow stability to grow? Bwahahahaha! Oh my god, you must be off your rocker. Look at Afghanistan for an immediate example. Funny how you never hear about it anymore, huh? Perhaps because the administration would rather not have it brought up? Because the country has returned to war-lord rule? Because the women still wear burkas, and the Taliban is starting to exert its influence again? Because the US troops, all 8000, are centered around Kabul, protecting a presidency that has no effect outside the city, and would cease to exist if not protected? Ahhh, the sweet smell of success: Blossoming body-bags, led by US inc. What do you think of the administration's handling of the N. Korea stituation? () /\ (Which hair-do you like better?)
  18. You fool. Leprosy is somewhat contagious. Although I don't have it, your suggestion shows just what type of person you are.
  19. Did you READ the proposal? About Saddam having to go on tv, stating he is hiding weapons of mass destruction or somesuch? Come on VB, will they require of him next the hokey-pokey? Perhaps the next resolution will require that he air on international television his suicide (see above).
  20. Jay B, that was total hogwash. You seem to think that treaty obligations commit the French to compliance with US foreign policy...hogwash. Some of you others think that because the US helped France out in the past, it now owes nothing but obeisance til kingdom come...hogwash. JayB: I appreciate your example of Iraqi voices speaking in favor(?) of a US invasion, but certainly the opposite can be found, in numbers that unfortunately cannot be quantified. As you note an example, many counter-examples could I also note, the latest in the NY Times, yesterday or the day before. What I read seemed to indicate a growing anger amongst Iraqi civilians towards not only the US administration, but towards the US in general, something being seen internationally. So...partial hogwash. You note Germany's Rhineland invasion as some sort of parallel to today's situation. One word: Hogwash. I could go on and on, but I believe one word sums it up aptly: Hogwash.
  21. I read another post on this thread, The Simpsons was mentioned, and it absolutely without doubt dawned on me: Dwayner is the comic-book store owner guy! You know the one: The pompous, condescending fellow who thinks the world is inhabited by fools worthy only of his contempt and scorn. I don't know if Dwayner is so entirely unconscious as the cartoon fellow, although he certainly makes a strong effort to convince.... Dwayner, you're sick.
  22. There's a super fun route on I think intersection rock. You turn a roof up high and traverse a little to the right; it's like 5.7. Anyone remember the name? On the same rock just to the right is a 5.8 or 5.9 that's really cool too. How's that for good beta? Dog Leg is really fun, 5.7(?). And there's another fun 5.moderate in the area, just left or right of Dog Leg.
  23. "We now interrupt our regularly programmed pro-war evening news to bring you a pro-war commercial. Stay tuned for more pro-war programming later." When did our government take over the news? I thought the tv medium was supposed to be independent. Hahahhahahaahahaaa oh how I kill me.
  24. Hey thanks all for the awesome info. It sounds as if really the difficulties are more conditioning related, as opposed to technical. Bug, it sounds as thought the way you guys did it made it quite pleasant, in terms of time spent on the climb. Any approximations on the total mileage?
  25. The French are attempting to prevent a war in Iraq for reasons that have little or nothing to do with the welfare of the Iraqi people. If they succeed the Iraqis will continue to live under Saddam Hussein. Let's assume that the US and Brittain are attempting to wage war in Iraq for reasons that have little or nothing to do with the welfare of the Iraqi people. If they succeed the people of Iraq will not be ruled by Saddam Hussein. Unless you are prepared to argue that the people of Iraq will be better off under Saddam Hussein, it would seem that your opposition to the war is motivated by objections to the US pursuing its interests, rather than what is in the best interests of the Iraqi people. As far as Europe is concerned, I am quite familiar with the history of that continent, especially the period in which WWI and WWII were fought. Understanding how their direct experience of these two wars would lead them to avoid war at any cost is one thing, claiming that this is an ethically defensible stance is quite another. Exhibit A - Kosovo. Exhibit B - Bosnia. Beyond their history, another factor which has influenced the European worldview has been their status as an American protectorate for the past 50 years. Over this time they have come to the mistaken conclusion that the European model of conflict resolution - by committee - is universally valid for all times and all circumstances, and their impotent dithering in the face of the senseless carnage in the former Yugoslavia demonstrates this as forcefully as an example ever could. So Europeans haven't engaged in warfare with one another since America made that impossible, and haven't taken up arms against a foreign threat since America assumed that responsibility for them. This hardly makes them the global champions of human welfare that they claim to be, as their conduct in defense of what was left of their colonial empires showed in the past, and as their abject refusal to use force even to prevent yet another genocide in the heart of their own continent shows now. Good god. What hogwash.
