  1. Hah, I've been told I'm a late bloomer: Now I can climb pretty hard multiple days in a row.... Perhaps now in my thirties I'm where most people are in their twenties? (Oops, wrong emoticon!)
  2. Hey you guys, mellow out. This is my thread and there are some rules here. 1. No name-calling. 2. No anger. 3. No drunkenness (That goes for you, Glassgowkiss). 4. No idiocy (That goes for you, Rat). This is MY thread.
  3. how do you cross without a boat?
  4. It got quiet over there!
  5. True dat. In my twenties I thought training was to be scorned, looked down upon as something impure and compromising.... Funny.
  6. So blowboarder, are you just fat now, or did you get all muscley? Just curious, cuz you still work out and shit. BTW, I just started doing weighted pull-ups again, and am psyched. Got to two #45 plates three reps. Next comes one-arm negatives with a #45 plate. And glassgow, I don't think forearm muscles are the only factor. I was a skinny weakling, and after hitting the weights and putting on 10 lbs, I came out way stronger. On endurance routes too. I think cuz it was just easier to pull.... And...I'm climbing way stronger than I ever did in my twenties!
  7. So when does this thing come into shape usually? And how can you tell without slogging all the way up it to find out if it's solid or not? Kinda new to ice, but really want to climb this thing this winter (along with the pencil).
  8. Werd.
  9. This is why Ihab rocks out in the mountains:

    What

is wrong with you people? Discuss please.
  11. You must admit I have beautiful eyes....
  12. You just can't STAND anyone being shorter and lighter than you, can you?!?!
  13. Jeez people, haven't you ever heard of Josune Bereciartu, from the Basque region of Spain? She's not really 10, that was just a nod to Dru's silliness; she's 30 something (I think?) and has a pretty deep hunger for climbing that's downright contageous.
  14. More on 10 year old phenom Josune: And Logical Progression is just her warm-up: She has traveled to Japan this winter hoping to climb Yuji Hirayama’s 2003 route Flat Mountain (5.15a), one of the hardest rock climbs in the world. My bets are on Josune getting it, since her power has improved so much in recent years, cranking up to V12 or so on power problems....
  15. So like, don't fight, ok people? Fist hitting face is NOT a nice sound.
  16. I don't know.... He had a bit of a skin condition in Y Tu Mama Tambien.... I bet his butt-cheeks are pretty pimply.
  17. Dru, only in your case is density constant. Haha. ha. ha.
  18. On Dec, 4th, at the Happy Boulders in Bishop, CA, Cicada Jenerik sent Lowrider, 7C/+ (V10) at 10 years old. As far as we know no-one else has ever bouldered their age and no other 10 year old has come close to a V10. Peter Mortimer (Front Range Freaks) filmed the send for his upcoming movie "Return to Sender" Cicada worked the moves on Friday the 3rd, but didn't feel reved up enough to really go for it. The temperature was really cold. She went back on Saturday the 4th and sent it within a dozen or so attempts. 'Lowrider' is the extension to 'Cholos' which Cicada sent on November 13, 2004 Bouldering her age has been one of her primary goals since she was 7, needless to say she's rather stoked. Badass. And Josune cranks again! Josune Bereziartu has done Logical Progression, 9a at Joyama in Japan. The route was put up by Dai Koyamada in 2002. The same year Josune did her first 9a, Bang de sang at Saint Loup. You go girls!
  19. I think it was Faulkner who said that.
  20. I think he's sweet! Can you imagine being on the back of a motorcycle with him through South America?
  21. You guys are all overweight and too big for climbing, IMO. I'm 5'3", 112 lbs, and it's a serious advantage for hard red-points, no matter what anyone else tells you.
  22. So a friend of mine snowboards, and snowshoes to get there. He claims he keeps up with his telemark brethren. I have not gone yet, but plan to real soon now. I think I will snowshoe, then jump on my snowboard. Can I expect to keep up with the ski crowd on a bc tour? Would anyone recommend this approach on a longer (5 day or so) backcountry tour covering about 20 miles?
  23. Collum's retrobolting on routes like Cunning Stunt and Angora Grotto are plain silly. Cunning Stunt is one of my faves at Index as a trad line, and I'm glad it got chopped. He seemed to be motivated by personal convenience above all? And his plastic add-on east of the hills? Glad that got removed by someone who could climb oh say V7 or V8. But hell, hard for me to get too worked up about bolts and plastic with everything else going on in the world! As far as bolt-spacing goes: be honest with yourself. What are your motivations? Are you truly intrigued with the lines? Do you objectively think the lines are safe (if that is your intention)? Are you rap-bolting and tr rehearsing? If you're just putting up standard sport-lines, I think you have a bit of a responsibility for making them safe. If you're following a more subjective internal vision, then I suppose others will see what kind of vision you have! (I'm assuming the area in question is the exfoliating schist near Leavenworth, with the above-mentioned plastic hold (now called Heart Transplant, 13a-ish).
  24. Shortly after being photographed, three hunters were killed by armed members of ALF. "Doesn't it seem rather arbitrary that humans would enjoy protection from murder while innocent animals don't?", says ALF member Flame Keeper. In reaction to these events, lawmakers have introduced a bill outlawing all hunting and other murder of animals; most hunters interviewed felt relief, realizing the emotional guilt they had carried for so many years might now come to an end.
  25. I have never witnessed MoveOn engage in something as base as using an execution for humor.
