One can either be psyched by the accomplishments of others, actually allowing it to inspire, or be competitive in a negative way and create a living hell for oneself. You decide which road to take.

I don't think the Sunnis were too concerned about Afghanistan.

Defeatist thinking! You start where you're at, and if you are so driven, well then drive! Do you have a goal in climbing? Let's here it, and WE'LL judge if it's possible! (No seriously, do you have a goal? Climbing can be super-fun, even with goals in mind!)

Numbers & News: Another B for Christof 8b+ by 59-year-old 2005-11-15 Climbing.com reports that Lee Sheftel (59) has done The whole shot, 8b+ in Maple Canyon. This should be a new world record and human beeings now have proven to be on their maximum climbing peak for 48 years, 11 (Adam Ondra) to 59. source I think the biggest issue is motivation and not listening to the cultural conditioning that says "too old".

Heh. Listening to Mortiis while pumping iron has developed a certain cynicism yes? Gates was criticized at an IT conference for speaking against market development in third world countries that had a hard time dealing with the basics. The caveat is I don't know him, but I won't criticize him either simply cuz it's fashionable amongst a certain sect.

He's put 23 billion into vaccination and education programs around the world.

"Dear Lord, I really pray that RuMR doesn't have an aneurism tonight. Amen."

I think it's generally well-known he's Rep. As far as his wife and the charity work, believe it or not, Republicans actually engage in charitable work. They don't all eat babies for breakfast. I think what their answer might be is that they would prefer to be in control of their money and its uses instead of the government. Pretty standard Republican position.

It was an article about the ultra-rich and their politics. Can't remember the article, but I'm sure if you googled any well-known name along with "voting record" or "political affiliation", you'd get the answer.

And another thing: How are mini-vans a tangible evidence of evil? They seem to do ok in mpg ratings, are safe and roomy, and generally support car-pooling. What gives?

Bill Gates voted for Bush. As did Marie Von Savant or whatever her name is, the one with an IQ of 223 or somesuch nonsense. As in: IQ don't mean much, especially when hashing out one's political and moral beliefs (you can be an idiot and still sport a MENSA membership).

True, cuz it very much is an access issue.

But HOW do yo uncage your soul? Is there a specific mantra you use? Some solicitation for strength from above? This man needs real answers, not vague inadequate hard-to-follow instructions. When one uncages the soul, is it a decision? And who is deciding? Is it you, or is God playing a part in it, or does the desire to uncage come from God? Are you God himself, masquerading as a human? And if this is true, then one would simply be praying to oneself, yes? As in, "uncage my soul, me." I also wonder if God thinks climbing is trivial, and if we tried praying to him, he'd let his vengeance out on us and rip out all our pro or slice our rope just as we're hanging on a mono pocket 120 feet in the air on an overhang super-duper pumped out cuz we're wasting his precious time while he's trying to save sailors heading to Bethlehem, or killing bad people who don't believe in him? So like then prayer would actually kill us then? I don't knwo about this prayer stuff. Sounds kinda scary when I think about it. I think I'll just keep my mouth shut.

"Oh it's so cute! Let's see if it'll lick honey off little Kikao's face!" (True story. Sad story. Japanese tourists thought bears were just like in American cartoons.)

You have a good point, but the tensile strength of perlon can be compromised when loaded under configurations such as a Double-Fisherman's, Figure-of-Eight, or even the standard Bowline.

Sounds like yer gettin payback after only a coupla weeks cool. Don't get addicted when the power really kicks in cuz its easy to injure. Listen to your body!

Redmond's too far. I'm in the valley. SoCo. 253 represent. Well, not that far. Seward park area, so no Redmond for me.

Um so I got this campus board with just the right sized rungs on it and such, but don't have a really good place to put it. Basement's too low, don't wanna invade upper living area. Maybe Matt's down with setting up in his locality, or somewhere else. But the point is I'm down for a month or 6 week program of some ugliness. Not sure if I'm psyched on doing it at the gym though. Rungs aren't the right size.

How's the training going, Unisport?

Hey, there's an easy solution: Don't side-slip!

I think boarding is more aesthetic and fluid, with only one board strapped to your feet (versus two boards PLUS two poles waving around every which way, endangering all those around you as well as yourself). But the back problem you have might be a concern, cuz you're twisted close to 90 degrees, with your back taking some of that twist. I'd definitely recommend trying it first to see how your back feels. If your back is ok, then boarding without a doubt is the superior and only way to go.

Plus, the neocon position is stated (by Grover Nordquist and others) as one that endorses misrepresentation as a standard for realization of policy objectives. If you have an ideological movement that endorses deceit, then most assuredly you cannot trust anything they say, which is the position this administration has gotten itself into with more and more of the American public.

MattP, you know his style, so why do you engage? I think he's simply egging you on, without any intention of revealing any of his own arguments (I don't think he really has any), which doesn't make for a serious discussion! Thanks for the rope, BTW!

Yeah yeah yeah fine everything you say is true, but I preferred the mishmashtic unprofessionalism of a runaway dj that might play 3 hours of throbbing gristle and possibly get the boot, only to be replaced by an equally unscheduled interlude of subjective programming ad hoc instead of playlist playlist playlist. Come on! College radio with paid DJs? NO! Plus, they dumped Pacifica and other alt programming. And Paul Allen owns them?
