nice post, and agreed.
I'd add that for some, religion can be understood in the same way: So for some people, religion is something to believe in, but for others, it is something to be understood, and tested.
read my edit above, and since seahawks is fresh on everyone's mind, in his defense, i'll say he sincerely (and literally) believes in his particular fairytale/myth/allegory.
but what is reality? is it a collectively homogenized platitude that one is then jumped all over (like evolution?) if one questions it?
or is it what is happening right now?
a note: there's no question in my mind that there are many folks who accept evolution as a religion; they do not understand the technical fundamentals of the theory, yet profess to believe in it (blind faith), simply because it has been the proper course of behaviour. there is an ENORMOUS amount of pressure applied to individuals to comform to the prevailing thought structures wherever and whatever the cultural/social ethos/theme happens to be at the time.
dude, you suck. this is IMPORTASNT SHIT that must be discussed.
as far as feck goes, yeah he sucks, but that was pretty much established long ago.
what is IMPORTASNT? Izzat like IMPORTAINT? As in NOT IMPORTANT?
Dude...speak slowly and carefully...
Oh yeah, here's a preemptive for your rejoining post!
arent you sposta be skiing at crystal stead of chekin my spellin? it's bin going off, yaknow.
seahawks is a sincere young man just doing his christian duty.
banning him would be nothing but the continuation of the growing and menacing persecution of christians in this country, and would undoubtedly lead to blowback of unimaginable proportions.
self-castration would probably be banned again, as would kneeling during liturgy. this would suck ass big time for obvious reasons.
? ok then.
but counting votes for locking a thread? that's ludicrous. there's no reason for locking the thread in the first place, beyond your silly predilection regarding previous inane drivel threads (this one is no different: inane drivel, but i support our right to inane drivel).
wrong. "science" refers to a process which does not necessarily have anything to do with being published in ANYthing, including a peer-reviewed journal.
Funny. I neither live in SF nor am a whipping boy of the ACLU, but I will not support the Boy Scouts in any way until they stop with the rules excluding atheists and gay people. I know a lot of you grownup types got dragged outside because you were in the Scouts, but nowadays the BSA have made far too much of their exclusions. What a terrible turn for a formerly quality organization.
It's not that the BSA has turned, but that they have continued without turning to match popular culture.
or: continued without maturing/evolving/wisdoming etc etc.
