Our esteemed patron, Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., is on record to the effect that voters should choose for their elected representatives people who are "honest, courageous and wise." Those are three excellent adjectives, but we do not observe them as much as we should in our halls of legislature. Honesty has been made ridiculous by the highest officials of the land. Courage is conspicuously absent when it comes to taking a stand which might conceivably lose votes. Wisdom is hard to judge, but it does not seem to be high on the list of the attributes the voters like. Ronald Reagan may be the last chief executive who might be considered to be honest, courageous and wise. People to whom those words apply seem reluctant to put themselves forward in our current political system.

Leakage of governmental classified material should be punishable by firing squad. Without it's secrets, how can government work? Off the bitches!

beck, I take back the book comment...peace. I don't have the answers, so I'll get out of this thread.
-
Beck, I don't know where you get this intel, but you're off base. I have a good friend that is a year or so from retirement with the CIA. I'm not totally sure if he's a "spy" or what, but he's been on "assignment" throughout the world for near 30 years. He's never married because he always felt his time could be up at any moment, and a lot of his time also involves embassy work in hot zones. I've tried to pry the details of his job from him and usually strike out, but he has said in no uncertain terms, that if the shit hits the fan, he doesn't expect Uncle to bail his ass out. I think you've been reading too much Gresham. hehehe

I didn't know where to put it and I didn't want to start the same old "Iraq" thread. Figured this was as good'a place as any.

Beck, the CIA agents know the risks going in. Didn't you watch Mission Impossible for Chrissake? "Jim, the information you are about to receive......"

I know that many of you are twisted in knots over the weapons of mass destruction thing. I know that many of you think the President lied about WMD. The fact is that all the indicators were there. Some say they are now in the Bekaa Valley. We, the United States of America, did invade Iraq. We defeated them militarily in record time, covering darn near the whole country. In the process we destroyed a lot of infrastructure. Not as much as we could have, but we did destroy some. Moreover, we destroyed their government. Most will agree that was a good thing. Some will say that at least it was stable and Hussein was keeping his foot on the neck of Shi'a militants. OK. That is probably a valid point. But the bottom line is - we destroyed their government. The problem is that while we have won the war militarily, politically at home we represent a divided country over the WMD issue. Our enemies - Al Qaeda and similar factions - see this as a weakness. They consider us (Americans) a decadent and spineless people. We do not have the wherewithal to see this through to the desired end. They also see that the present administration is in trouble. They see the Democrats as anti-war/anti-occupation. So they are going to do whatever they can to drive that wedge deeper. That means more and more attacks against American soldiers. That means that they will ensure that any WMD will stay hidden forever - unless they pop up in NYC, Washington, Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Francisco, LA, wherever. As we draw closer to the election of November 04, I can guarantee you we will see the attacks heighten. I am sure that more and more foreign Arabs are flocking to Iraq for the opportunity to kill Satanist Americans. Why? Because they think we will fold. Go home. Leave them alone to fester in their little hell holes and cook up another 911 somewhere. The bottom line? We are a country divided. We are allowing them through our sense of "fairplay" or whatever you want to call it to drive that wedge deeper. The only way we will defeat these bastards is through unity. Yes - I think we can and should criticize our government. The problem is - that is a totally foreign concept to these idiots. They think that our freedoms are our weakness. How do we combat that? How do we win this war on these terrorists? How do we shut them down? How do we make the situation better? Do we run and hide? Do we isolate ourselves from the rest of the world? Do we cower in fear at the term "jihad"? Do we let them divide and conquer? I'm looking for answers. I see none. Other than to stand upright in their midst and smack them down at every opportunity. There are going to be casualties, of that I am certain. But how else do you do this?

I'll bet they're both just shit talkers. They won't go to blows.

I don't know about you, but I love Taco Bell. Sure, the meat they use might be bottom-of-the-line Grade F & infested with foot-and-mouth disease (whatever the hell that is), but how can I deny any restaurant that has a 49 cent menu? And any restaurant that can have Little Richard singing their theme song is a great restaurant in my book. I mean, can anyone think about Taco Bell without thinking about Little Richard yelling "Fifty-nine, Seventy-nine, Ninety-nine!" I think not. However...there might now be a new reason to give a fuck about Taco Bell...that reason being Dwayner

there is a lot more info there than can be cut into a single paragraph. putting a spin on events takes a sentence, straightening out the spin put on by a number of posters takes a short article. if it's too long for you, skip over it. Who appointed you chief cook and bottle washer? Must you always feel the need to "un-spin" our comments? What makes you possibly think we agree with you? I do skip over most of your shit because it's extremely boring and one-sided. I would suggest that you buy some friends and pretend you have a life, and spend less time playing "cub reporter". Again, thank you for your patience.

I don't know as it once again was too fucking long to read. Get a clue Mr. Cut'n Paste...no one wants to read those long-assed boring posts you come up with. Can't you try cutting it down to a paragraph similar in size to this one? Thank you for your patience.

She called this morning and said she'd been shopping at the Cabelas Store. Said they had much more and cooler shit than REI and for much less money. Later she's going to the range to shoot some guns a friend that lives there is bringing along. My kinda girl

I was talking to a friend of mine who's vacationing in Kansas City, MO. Both of us have an Everett number with Verizon, and there was no long distance or roaming bullshit goin' on. Verizon's coverage extends at least that far. On the other hand, when I was in Montana this summer, I was roaming...go figure?

Smith & Wesson announced its largest handgun ever, called .50 caliber Magnum. It has an 8.5 inch barrel, weighs 4.5 pounds, a pound heavier than Dirty Harry's .44 Magnum, and 3X times more power. Cost, only $989. This S&W .50 Magnum will be real popular gun with thugs and street gangs. Although its barrel is too long to conceal, you could easily modify it by sawing off the barrel to be a snub snose revolver. I give it -trask
