another pilgrim to the collective conciousness known as boulder, i see. you know if the clouds part just right you can actually see out to the real world. but you do have more rock in your backyard than you can imagine and there is neptune mountaineering to boot--time out for a shameless plug. well enjoy the winter, they sure do last long out there.

right on beck, i'm in. i'll just bring the whole coffee arsenal i have and we'll see what happens. what time do you want to get the setup going? early enough to get in some afternoon cragging i hope. or just get right on to partying, whatever works for me. cheers, Jay

hey beck, my folks have a big party size coffe maker i can use. i think it plugs in but if there's a generator it shouldn't be a problem. also how early can we get to the site? do you need some folks to show up early and help set things up? Jay

as another bellevue native, i can definitely say there are no good bars there, but i do know plenty of cool spots where we used to throw kegs in high school. [This message has been edited by dr. jay (edited 09-07-2001).]

i've got a couple coleman stoves and lanterns, and can rally some tiki torches as well. how many will we need? how big is the campsite?

hey dave parker, the 16 bus funs right by my house in fremont. if you want i'll give you a ride the rest of the way. Jay

and you can have a rainbow to hang above your door...its pudding time children!

and how can i forget the ever-loving, ubiquitous, urine-chugging goats. i hear that if they get close enough they wont even let it hit the ground first. ouch!

every view in the enchantments is pretty much a postcard shot, but my favorites were sunset from the top of asgard pass, moonrise over prusik peak, and the morning reflection of the high peaks in tranquil lake.

right on, carolyn, more power to ya. and bronco, about rule #2--don't be so hard on yourself just because you're new to the mountains. anyone who thinks its not a priveledge to climb needs to take a step back. a good attitude can make up for alot of experience. i always like climbing with beginners--i always like climbing anytime--and if you ever want to get out just drop me a line. cheers, Jay

sounds like another fine time, but unfortunately i'm off to work for the night. i hope none of you upstanding citizens pays me a surprise visit in the e.r. while trying to drive home with a buzz on, though. and happy birthday lisa, someone please make sure she gets plenty of shots!

and what's wrong with the sleestacks? they live in those funky caves with the trippy lights...kind of like most ballardites.

i know slobbering beasts really make me thirsty. but it is good though.

well i finally made it back to the alehouse to pick up my credit card and pay my bill. for some reason i couldn't quite manage it the other night but after seeing the tab i realize why i was feeling a bit rough the next day. i hope the booze flows as freely up north.
-
well actually i just keep re-visiting the old ones. i guess i can't blame it on the climb, though, just my own fucked-up feet. and by the way, i noticed the name change--have you been suffering the same? blisters kind of get in the way of a good time, eh? i'm going shoe shopping this week.
-
and an easy mistake it is. aiming for the crack pitches higher up and then working backwards may make it a bit easier. doing the urban bypass also helps keep you left, which by the way is a great variation. it definitely adds a little excitement to the day. hope you have comfortable shoes, though. i'm still feeling my blisters.

hear, hear. i certainly had an interesting stumble home myself. who bought that damn jager anyway?
-
well yes we do...but usually its not about bolts. and no, i wasn't proposing that thing you said but just taking a moment for some legal system bashing. perhaps it is just a little of my euro-envy but it seems that they are much less concerned about the threat of being sued. if you do something stupid or are a victim of bad luck then its no one elses fault. and that mentality is certainly not exclusive to the mountains. mcdonald's coffee anyone?
-
maybe its because there's not enough lawyers around to scare people out of allowing access to the mountains

well now the flu can be a real bummer to catch, but usually unless you're old and fragile, other than being a bit of a drag the flu's pretty safe. unfortunately there's plenty of those frail folks out there to skew the statistics. not enough climbing when they were young, i reckon. even more justification to tell the missus, in case you needed some.

its nice to know mother nature's got us covered this that. in case of emergencies or other such unexpected losses.
