  1. come now sean, quit your bellyachin', its not that bad. i'll even give you a ride so you don't have to drive. besides, erik's got a good point. i mean, he has been climbing in california while the rest of us have only been working in seattle watching it rain. we shouldn't have to make him drive so far...hope you had a good trip, e, j-tree was pretty nice too. so anyway i'll give anyone a ride from seattle if they want, and i'll even try to stay sober enough to drive home too.
  2. i can't vouch for the tents but integral designs is a great company. i have some other products that i really like and the customer service rocks.
  3. just wanted to get this back at the top of the list--gotta keep our priorties staight. i don't know much about murphy's but i'll take michelle's word for it being the professional pub clubber that she is... quote: Originally posted by ehmmic: Sorry for the mix-up Dr. Jay. Murphy's was more of a group decision, just gave you the credit. Here's the info for anyone planning that far ahead:Murphy's Pub1928 N 45th StSeattle, WA 98103 For those who need a map or directions... http://www.mapquest.com/
  4. free your heels and free your mind!
  5. dave, i would vote for cat in the hat--it is a classic 5.6 on a great piece of rock in a great setting. you will not be disappointed, but olive oil is a nice alternate as well. just try to stay out of the casinos and strip joints the night before--an early start is very helpful with the short days now. descending by the lights of the strip is pretty cool, but with the rangers on the loop road its not worth the ticket. have an awesome time. Jay
  6. i found some worms in my backyard today. will that work? or maybe slugs to give it that nortwest flair.
  7. well actually michelle my new neighborhood is fremont and i don't know where murphy's is, but hey, i'm up for anything. it was probably just the beer talking. good thing i didn't drive home--thanks for the ride V. sorry to hear you'll be out of action for awhile beck so i guess the rest of us will just have to pick up the slack. cheers!
  8. oops, i guess i was one of the culprits who left you all hanging with the check. i promise it wasn't on purpose. i'll get you all back next week. cheers, Jay
  9. hey caveman, are you showing up? if so i've got something in my trunk you might be interested in. if not then check the yard sale postings tomorrow.
  10. don't sweat it, dave. i would have been there with you but i guess i'm just not sneaky enough. any chance to avoid unneccesary run-ins with the man should be taken. unfortunately my fine had nothing to do with the parking lot but that i played along with the fake name and larry was not in a good mood.
  11. geez, dave, you left just as things were getting fun, too. and yes, it certainly was the good officer larry on the scene. after the initial round of harrassment was over, i didn't have my i.d. when he asked and so i told him it was indeed nick space who climbed orbit just like it said on the day permit. but i screwed up the math when i gave nick's birthday so i came clean but larry didn't find it too funny. first came the handcuffs and the threats of violence and jail time, then the shock and disbelief that i would actually lie to him, followed up by the $100 fine for misleading an officer. he then dished out another $50 fine for wating in the parking lot and everyone else got a stern talking-to. in a surprising act of goodwill larry then "activated" john's pass retroactively and he got off with a warning. all in all it added up to $150 in fines, a huge waste of time and energy and a lot of tired, bitter, outdoor enthusiasts. i don't know if will make any difference in my case, but i plan on taking my ticket before a judge just to air out some complaints in public and pretend i have a voice against the man. any legal advice would be most appreciated. fight the power! 12. can someone post a set of directions for those of us who missed the last one?
  13. hey dwayner, i got a real neat thermos i'll trade you for the whole lot. now that's all you really need. i'll even throw in the paddleball game.
  14. another pilgrim to the collective conciousness known as boulder, i see. you know if the clouds part just right you can actually see out to the real world. but you do have more rock in your backyard than you can imagine and there is neptune mountaineering to boot--time out for a shameless plug. well enjoy the winter, they sure do last long out there.
  15. right on beck, i'm in. i'll just bring the whole coffee arsenal i have and we'll see what happens. what time do you want to get the setup going? early enough to get in some afternoon cragging i hope. or just get right on to partying, whatever works for me. cheers, Jay
  16. hey beck, my folks have a big party size coffe maker i can use. i think it plugs in but if there's a generator it shouldn't be a problem. also how early can we get to the site? do you need some folks to show up early and help set things up? Jay
  17. as another bellevue native, i can definitely say there are no good bars there, but i do know plenty of cool spots where we used to throw kegs in high school. [This message has been edited by dr. jay (edited 09-07-2001).]
  18. i've got a couple coleman stoves and lanterns, and can rally some tiki torches as well. how many will we need? how big is the campsite?
  19. hey dave parker, the 16 bus funs right by my house in fremont. if you want i'll give you a ride the rest of the way. Jay
  20. and you can have a rainbow to hang above your door...its pudding time children!
  21. and how can i forget the ever-loving, ubiquitous, urine-chugging goats. i hear that if they get close enough they wont even let it hit the ground first. ouch!
  22. every view in the enchantments is pretty much a postcard shot, but my favorites were sunset from the top of asgard pass, moonrise over prusik peak, and the morning reflection of the high peaks in tranquil lake.
  23. right on, carolyn, more power to ya. and bronco, about rule #2--don't be so hard on yourself just because you're new to the mountains. anyone who thinks its not a priveledge to climb needs to take a step back. a good attitude can make up for alot of experience. i always like climbing with beginners--i always like climbing anytime--and if you ever want to get out just drop me a line. cheers, Jay
