Looking to cash in on the new craze that wasn't, REI has come out with the new devil's clubber--an indispensible addition to every NW peakbagger's quiver:

At 12:30AM Doc C was really stumbling.

"If you leave index on a Sunday nite its best to go the back roads, you can bypass most of the gnarly traffic, plus Reiter Rd. is a good scenic drive." This is true...once you get to Reiter Road. I've taken it a half-dozen times or so. Sometimes/often, the cars are backed up looong before this point.

It's the deadliest because people shoot themselves to end their suffering of endless stop 'n go traffic coming back through Sultan.

Answers: yes and yes of course. Team Sub-Basics (as in sub-Basic Mountaineers Class) won. Team Sub-Basics was made up of initially Alpinfox, AlpineK, and klenke. Later, we bolstered our brains by adding knotzen and mattp, and later still with Peggy G. We bad, we bad, we bad! Good fun...though the location inside a nicotine chimney flue wasn't all that great. Thanks for the invite/heads-up, snugtop.

I made this one up today: Did you hear the the one about the Sumo Wrestler who wore transparent trunks at the high diving competition? . . . . . . . He wanted to make a big splash.

Maybe your relatives would find this trivia thing fun. Better than sitting around on couches silently looking at each other saying, with eyes, "yeah, I know you. And I know you too." Instead, you can sing that Olivia Newton John song with them: "Let's get trivial. Trivial. I wanna get trivial. Trivial."

Visuals: great. Music: use of choral song O Fortuna from the Carmina Burana opera is getting old. Are there no original ideas out there? In the entertainment industry: not really. Lyrics: dumb.

I found your groove. It was lying face down in a downtown gutter intoxicated again. Describe your groove (including born-on date) and I will return it to you.

I think I can make an appearance (at the Boxcar, not at Dave's family's place). ...Cold and dreary, can't understand why anyone would want to live up here.

Whoa Nelli, hold back that enthusiasm there Wayne! I purchased my RF ticket today. It seemed like they still had a lot of seats left but I could be wrong. I went to the Pike Place Market info booth for mine. Bring cash or suffer a $4 surcharge. Resemblance?... ...

...And....here comes jerky Dru with another pointless snide comment trying to look cool.

I plan on picking up at least one ticket for the Fripp show on Sunday 10/16 tonight (if they're not already sold out). I'll probably hold off buying tickets for the Rieflin Wednesday 10/19 show as the difference between advance sale and day-of sale is only $2. Or if it threatens to sell out I may purchase advance tickets for it.

"Are we rolling, Jimmy?" "Yeah rolling." "Rolling on 1. One again." brrrzzzrrrrzzrrzzz... [cough] "Trying to get this airplane on here." "Nah, not even....yea." Du-na-nu nu-nu, Du-na nu nu-nu, Dun-Dun Du-na-nu nu-nu, Du-na nu nu-nu, Dun-Dun Hey hey momma, what you gonna do?...

I didn't see this thread until just now. Why didn't you PM me, PP? No harm no foul. Rieflin's music is good too so I can see going to both. I have always been curious what a Fripp Soundscape performance would be like in person. Wayne, if you go, bring C and M!!

Is it just me and my computer (doubt it cuz it's happening at work and at home) or are all the Gallery plabnails missing? Most of the actual photos to these thumbnails that I've checked still have the largest resolution images available. Some have the lower resolution ones too.

As promised, Sloan Peak and the Sloan Glacier from the east (from "Baekos Peak") on Sept. 26, 2005: The normal route comes up to the glacier from the right. And now that I look at the picture, traversing underneath the glacier wouldn't do you any good because it would miss the Corkscrew ledge all together.

Hurry, hurry, hurry, place your Senate vote predictions now for Harriet Mier. The winner wins a free date with Josh to the Republican National Convention or a corporate mug with a red white and blue donkey on it.

Okay, Coast ranges. Dru, I wouldn't mind learning the Canadian hiearchical system. Can you provide me a link? This bivouac one doesn't give me what I need (the hiearchy link says nothing toward your end), but it does say this, which, read different ways, supports either of our arguments: "A mountain range is a group of mountains, bordered by lowlands or passes. Thus mountain ranges have an area and boundaries, they are not simply a list of peaks. A mountain range does not necessarily have the same geology. For example, the BC Coast Range contains both volcanoes and metamorphic uplifts." then "What is the difference between a Range and a Mountain or Massif? There is really no difference other than the way people want to discuss the landforms." What was Round One, Blake? I can't remember. Oh wait, was Round One where I had the definition of granite wrong or something like that and Dru was being his usual jerky self and I didn't want to lose face? ...Okay, no more thread drift. No matter what you say, no matter what you do, no more posting by me in this here thread.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I too call them the Coast Mountains. Nonetheless, they are a range. As are the Rocky Mountains as a whole. So, to be correct for your pernickety needs, Alex should have typed Coast range, not Coast Range.

Mountains, Range? What's in a name? Apparently, not much: Bivouac.com
